      Coconut was paradise...in paradise

Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in September 2012

This amazing little house had everything you could need to make a Key West vacation even better. The whole house was clean, and with a tropical flair that told you the moment you walked in that you were on vacation. The Kitchen was well stocked with anything you could need to make dinner at home. The "dipping pool" was perfect!! about the span of three hot tubs, it was the perfect way to cool down and the the landscaping around it made it feel like a lush grotto (privately fenced) ...complete with barbeque and patio table/chairs! Like another reviewer said, the pool is where I revisit in my memories. Really appreciated having the washer and dryer. An unexpected bonus was being able to have free long-distance calling and of course wi-fi. The location is great, just a block from handfuls fo places to eat and a short walk to activities like the Buttefly museum and shopping. I would highly recommend the Coconut Cabana to make your vacation in paradise even better.

The house was spotless. Easy to live in. Close to everything. Comfortable. The small pool/grotto is where I hang out in my memories. Everyone was sweet, accommodating and clear about the steps we needed to take to move out for Tropical Storm Isaac.

      Best vacation experience yet!

Left on 08/08/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Perfect size for a family of 5 and could have fit more. Kitchen was perfect. We ate in almost every meal and whenever I thought, "I should have brought...", there it was. For instance...tin foil, a cupcake pan, cooking spray, etc. Location was great. We walked everywhere except when hauling stuff to beach or on snorkeling trip. Kids 5-11 and had no problem walking full length of Duval from here. Quiet...no loud music or roosters crowing. Price was right on. The only 2 improvements I could suggest would be to not put so much chlorine in the pool (we are fl natives and in the pool constantly, but kids' hair and eyes suffered from this one...bought goggles) and also to post a private parking/tow away sign. A neighbor down the street took our 1 spot one day and I had to park on another street until he moved his car. According to the neighbors (we tried to find out who's it was), he does this to everyone on the street. Neither of these issues would stop us from coming back and recommending this location to all our friends!

This house was perfect. The location to Duval was great as well as to the small beach at the end of Duval. The house itself is adorable. The small pool is great for an end of day dip. I'm glad I paid for the heat for the pool. We will stay here again.

      Home away From Home!

Left on 04/10/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My wife and I stayed with two friends from 3/31/12-4/6/12 and I think we all agreed, the house was incredible, more than fit our needs, had everything we wanted, close to Duval and the beach, we were able to park our rental car on the street outside the house for the most part. To us the home is larger than it looks, we would not have needed anything more. We had decided early on during our time there that when we return to Key West we will rent the Coconut Cabana again!

The Perfect Home away from Home

Left on 12/30/2011 for a stay in December 2011

I loved this house. It was the perfect vacation for our family of 5. We were able to go out all day and have a place to come home and relax. The rooster crowing was somewhat of a surprise but that is part of the charm of Key West. It had all the amentities to eat in if that is what you wanted. It is located perfectly to get around with out a car. The decor is perfect and everything was in working order and of high quality.

Three couples shared this house for a week. It is very nicely deoorated, clean and well-maintained. The back patio area is private with a very small pool. You should get the pool heated unless it's summer months. It's in a nice location. There was never an issue with noise at night. Highly recommended. The only negative is the back patio is completely shaded. It wasn't an issue with any of our group though.

My 5 friends and I stayed here for a week. We loved the house! We will stay here again...soon I hope. I would like to see the pool cleaned at least twice a week. The trees drop a lot of debris, including branches into the pool. Other than this...the house is awesome! I do suggest not having a vehicle. We did not and found that one was not necessary. However, if a vehicle is rented, parking will be a problem.

1st timers to Key West. Enjoyed the experience and weather. Very good location. Easy to get around. Plenty to keep you busy. Needed the pool heated - which was extra $ per day. Would like to have seen that included in the pkg fee.

Some additional amenities would have been nice - like shampoo. Needed towels to take to the beach and more than 3 rolls of Tpaper for 4 people for a week.

Traveling light (carry luggage on the plane) means not bringing items that you believe should already be there.

Rent Key West employees did a great job.

When we arrived house was full of ants. When the pool company came to service the pool they placed a chemical in the pool that did not clear up. When we called Rent Key West they did not send someone out. I had to go back to the office on the third day before they would send someone out to look at the pool. We were 5 out of our 7 days without a pool to use.

Left on 12/16/2010 for a stay in November 2010

This was our fifth or sixth time using RKW and, as always, it was a worry free vacation. Our previous rental property was always Casa de Cuba but this time we opted for Coconut Cabana since there were only two of us. The property is well appointed and maintained. We always rent a car and were concerned about on-street parking but it was not a problem the whole time we were there. Also, when we arrived, we had a few minor maintenance issues (ice maker and safe) which were resolved within an hour. The staff of RKW has always been delightful to work with - rent from them with the utmost confidence.

The home was great and decorated very nice and felt very relaxing. The kids age 31 and 29 had not had a vacation in years due to finances being tight. One warning though. If you are having a few drinks while riding a scooter the police will arrest you as they did my son. The Key West police are very rude and I had not had anything to drink and they treated me like I have never been treated before when I tried to find out what they were doing to my son. I think they have a racket going on with the local lawyers to compensate for the slow economy. This was my 11 time in Key West and unfortunatly I will never return after being treated the way myself and my family was after my sons arrest. You would have thought he was a armed killer.

Stayed here for 9 nights with my mom, stepdad, my husband and our 2-1/2 yr old daughter; great, convenient location, and a beautiful home base! Swam in the pool every day, and slept great each night. Only issue was the upstairs shower was leaking some - caused dripping into the bedroom on the 1st floor, but property manager did their best and did seem to get it mostly fixed while we were there. Overall a wonderful property - would totally stay there again!

      Perfect Spot in Key West!

Left on 06/01/2010 for a stay in May 2010

I travel quite a bit for work and, in the past, have gone the route of booking a hotel for my accommodations. I am so glad I chose to stay in a vacation rental home while down in Key West. Price wise, I paid about the same as I would have if I stayed at my typical spot down there (Sheraton). The location of the house was perfect... only a half block off of Duval and a few blocks from the beach. I could easily walk to where ever I needed to go. Restaurants and CVS were all within a short walk so even though I had a rental car, I barely used it. Since parking is a bit limited, I was ok with leaving my car in front of the house so I didn't have to fight for a spot. The house itself was very charming and well decorated; full of character. There was a small pool in the back yard but due to all the folliage, very little sunlight made it through the palm trees... great if you are looking for a spot to read but not someplace you'd hang out at if you wanted to get a tan. There was a washer/dryer onsite as well which was super convenient.
Since I was by myself, when I checked in I had asked about things to do while I was down there. Joyce had several recommendations that included information on the song writers festival that was going on that weekend. What's better than laying out on the beach and listening to live music at the same time? It was the perfect getaway... I almost forgot I was there for work :)

A perfect vacation for 2 families

Left on 03/03/2010 for a stay in February 2010

This house made our vacation that much more fun and relaxing. While we
were worried that all properties on Key West were small, this house ended
up being absolutely perfect for 2 families with little kids (4 adults, 2 kids
and 2 infants). The infants fit into the bedrooms in a Pack-N-Play and a
crib just fine, each kid had their own bed, And the parents had their own
rooms (with infants in our case). The kitchen was perfectly functional with
all the appliances to make vacation easy. The living room was relaxing and
opens right up to the pool. The staircase is open, which wasn't an issue for
the older kids, and we rented child gates from a company on the island to
keep the infants away from the stairs. The kids loved the pool which was
very clean when we arrived, and a pool guy came in the middle of the week
      to clean it again.
The property was located where we were looking for, half a block from
Duval street where there is a fantastic coffee shop and breakfast place, 3
blocks from South Beach, and a block from a liquor store. It is on the
'quieter' end of duval which we appreciated. We liked to walk to the other
end of duval street which does take some time. The other family liked to
take cabs to the other end which were usually $6 plus tip to Mallory Square.
I would absolutely come back to this house in the future and highly
      recommend it.

We really liked the house, it was nicely decorated, very cute. We would probably stay there again but the pool doesn't really get any sun so we had to leave the property when we wanted to sunbath. One of the things we enjoy about renting a house is being able to sit by the pool with our friends, get some sun and have the convinience of the house/bathroom only a few steps away.

      Great House, Good Service

Left on 09/17/2009 for a stay in September 2009

Two couples and a 2-year-old spent a magical weekend in this lovely, well designed house, enjoying the lovely secret garden with its tiny pool and eating their way through a mountain of food prepared in the well-stocked kitchen.
The upstairs bedrooms connect via a bathroom with doors on either ends, making it the prefect family suite. The downstairs bedroom is a little small but very well designed and has its own bathroom. Unfortunately (and this is why the house only gets 4 stars), there is a party house right across the street and - because the bedrooms face the street - the loud, badly preformed renditions of tacky rock-and-roll standards (think "mustang sally" with shout-outs to all the Sallys in the audience do filter in through the windows.
The house was incredibly well-appointed, down to the pool towels stacked neatly by the back door. We were all very sad to leave (the fact that we had to be out by 10 Am sharp was another minor annoyance) and would stay there again tomorrow...if only we could.

First of all, the location was great. Close to everything, yet not too noisy. We loved that we had plenty of room to spread out, as we were travelling with our twin boys. Had we not had our boys with us who were crawling at the time, we might not ever had noticed that the floors were pretty much filthy. My idea of a good vacation does not involve having to mop the floors. The only other issues we encountered were a ceiling fan in one of the bedrooms that was broken and the oven wasn't working either.

We did have a great time while staying here, and I would overall recommend a stay at the Coconut Cabana, I think they just have a couple of issues they could work on to make the house perfect!

      Coconut Cabana - Go Nuts!

Left on 06/18/2009 for a stay in November 2007

We loved Coconut Cabana! This house was perfect for a "sibling celebration" of my brother's 50th birthday. The house was darling, well equiped and the entire rental process was smooth sailing. There is no place like Key West and this house just off Duval was just where we needed to be. We would highly recommend!
