We planned our trip knowing we (6 of us in the house)wanted to stay in Key West longer than a weekend. We saw the house on-line and read the reviews. Our experience was great. The house was everything we read and more. The house was clean and very roomy. Having the kitchen and grill worked out great. The location is very close to Duval but we all commented on how quiet the location was. This was my 4th trip to Key West and I am always thrilled with how easy everyone is to deal with. We talked around the pool about if we would rent the house again and everyone agreed that this will have to happen again.
2 little thing. The neighbors who live in Key West behind the house have barking dogs early in the morning(nothing we can do) and the king size bedroom has no dresser. These are not things that would stop us or anyone we refer from renting this house.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Duval Roost. The house was perfect for three couples and the location could not have been better being only 1/2 block off of Duval street. Checking in and out was a breeze. Everyone was very helpful. We would definetly stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Duval Roost. Check in was fast & friendly. The location of the home was perfect. We felt like it was our own little hide-a-way. The heated pool was used many times a day every day. Other than buying groceries, everything was provided. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom and with 6 of us being there that was helpful. The bedrooms were spaced apart so you each felt the privacy. When we first checked out the two upstairs bedrooms we thought the first one we walked into was the Master. Then we actually walked into the Master Bedroom. Just so very nice. Rooms were decorated very nice with relaxing colors. The TV cabinet in the Livingroom had games and books to use & enjoy. Plus there was a additional little sunroom. We felt like it was home. Our only issue was the gas grill was left a mess, but hey there was a gas grill for outdoor cooking.
We were able to walk to anything we wanted to do. We rented bikes using the referral and received a discount.
There were a few issues but not enough to ruin a vacation. We have an SUV and the parking was a bit tight. Once we parked we only used the car twice so that really wasn't a big deal. In the kitchen we had a small problem with very tiny ants buts as long as we didn't leave food out and cleaned up they weren't there. It took us a bit to figure out all the different lights & switches (oh my such a problem to be had. lol)
All in all it was fabulous and I would rent this place again. -

Key West goes without saying, fun & relaxing. The Duval Roost was a very nice place to stay; everything was provided, clean and modern. There were 6 of us and we all had plenty of room & privacy in the rental and at its location. The pool, although small was perfect for any time of the day or night swimming. I have only one minor complaint, the gas grill that was provided on the patio area was filthy and appeared not to have been cleaned for a long time, beyond safe use. Overall I would recommend this rental and its location to anyone who with a small group whom will be coming to Key West for vacation. We were not disappointed not do I believe you would be thanks Duval Roost staff!

Duval Roost is nice, but needs an overhaul.
Pool needs a filter & was very dirty.
Downstairs room needs to be cleaned. We striped the bedding in that room because we saw lots of ants.
Centrally located & the roosters will wake you in the morning!!

Our Duval Roost home will be experiencing renovations to all the bathrooms and the kitchen in September. The owners just replaced the living room furniture and added a new sleeper sofa. As with most of our pools they are located outside and have scheduled cleanings once a week. Also, all of our homes have scheduled services by an exterminator. It's very important, especially in the summer months, to properly store all foods. As far as roosters...they are part of the Key West culture and 'rogue' from neighborhood to neighborhood so you never know what lucky guest will get a free wake-up call in the morning ;)

The perfect location! Except to go to the grocery stoe the first day we never needed the car again. The pool was great for soaking in after walkinf around. The staff was great and even called about clothes that were left at the house. The mattresses were like sleeping on cardboard but everything else was great.

We attended Key West for a destination wedding and Duval Roost was the perfect "host" location for our family. We loved being one block off of Duval Street and in the middle of the action. We loved having a pool and the home itself, while a tad "dated" was very clean and well stocked to make our stay comfortable. We are already planning our next trip back and we will most definitely try and stay at Duval Roost again. The entire experience was first class.

Duval Roost is tucked away perfect on a private lane, but close to all the action. You're steps away from the liveliness of Duval, but can easily escape and take a nap. The house is very spacious, and the pool very nice to have. There's a CVS right around the corner to pick up snacks and beer. Also next to CVS is an Urgent Care center 'just in case', which we ended up utilizing. They were very affordable even paying out of pocket. We had a couple nights where some neighbors were loud, but hey it's Key West. It's very close to our favorite restaurants Blue Heaven, and Santiago Bodega. Having a basket full of beach towels was much appreciated. We would definitely stay there again.

Much room, calm, clean, peaceful, Locks have been lubricated
a/C unit had a Knocking under sun room but could only be heard from patio semi annoying. Checkin and check out very efficient. Page was a wonderful associate to work with.
Pool heat probably only needed by people of the north Dec-early March. Pool only got sun for approx 3 hrs a day. Will stay again. -

Renting a house is the only way to go. Before this year we had stayed in hotels. Having a house is so much more relaxing and enjoyable. The atmosphere of Duval Roost was warm and welcoming. The location was terrific; being about half way down Duval Street on a vert quite side road. There are very few TV channels and only one parking space. But these concerns were small compared to the great time we had. We will come back to Duval Roost if available!

Great location, quiet street yet extremely close to all the action. Home was nice (slightly dated) and the size was adequate for our family of 6. Pool area provided shade for small children. Would definitely use rent key west again; great service!

The house was very nice, roomy and they supplied everything you needed for your stay.
If you want to spend time on Duval street this is the place to stay. It is just one block behind Duval and the corner next to "Bourbon Street”.
The only negatives were the pool didn't get much sun and it was almost impossible to lock/unlock the door.

Duval Roost is well hidden from just about everyone except one home next door. Even several locals had a hard time locating the house and street. Please note that despite what the rental brochures imply, this is not a freestanding home, it shares a roof with a very similar rental on one side. Overall we loved the privacy and also its proximately to everything in Old Town Key West, it is barely a few footsteps from the center of Duval street. The home was very clean and quite roomy by Key West standards. We stayed 10 nights and the only challenges we had were with the pool, when we arrived it had not been cleaned, a hose was running into it, and the water was very cloudy. We called and spoke to the rental company and they said they would call me back to let me know when it would get taken care of. They never called back and the pool did not get cleaned for several days. Later the pool heater turned on by itself and would not stay off, this is a big problem when it's 90+ outside and the pool water is 100++. Fortunately this was taken care of, but it took the rest of the following day to cool down. I want to believe that the pool issues are not the norm and we would definitely consider staying there again. I only wish the rental company returned calls and followed up with us to make sure the pool issues got resolved.

We were at the last minute moved here from another rental, and it turned out to be more than we could ask for. Everything was there for us at the house and it was in a convenient location to activites. The neighbors were quiet and we will definitely be back!

Working with the agency was trouble-free. The house was located close to Duval St, so convenient yet so very private. The roominess and openness of the house felt like a real vacation: far away from regular days and in a beautiful setting.

Our rental house exceeded our expectations in space, location, cleanliness, privacy, amenities...although randomly chosen, it couldn't have been more perfect for us. We would most definitely choose this house again and recommend it. The rental company was most helpful and accommodating.

We had 5 adults and a baby. The house worked out beautifully. Everyone had their space and the community area was large enough for all to enjoy. The location was superb, 1/2 block off Duval and near the middle of Duval. The rental agency was great with suggestions and help with crib and high chair rental. Only complaint was the floors were a bit dirty. Our barefeet needed a bath every night.

as a frequent traveler to key west, i enjoy trying out different accomodations each time. the duval roost has, by far, been my favorite. i traveled with my bf and his fam... all of us had ample private space - bedrooms were quite large and private bathrooms in each bedroom was a huge bonus! the house was clean and in the perfect location - 1/2 way between mallory square and the southernmost point, close enough to duval st to make it easy to stumble our way home yet far enough off duval that we barely heard the noise. i have to thank the staff at rent key west for being so helpful in finding the perfect location! all in all, the accomodations were perfect.

We really enjoyed our stay and would reccomend Duval Roost. The two master suites worked out perfectly for our party. We enjoyed staying near Duval Street and liked the pool in the back yard.
Now for the downside: Fourth of July weekend was way too crazy for an old guy like me (age 51), neighbors were jumping off of their balconies into their pools at all hours of the morning (5AM) and I had to yell at and challenge our next door neighbor to stop using profanity. Other drawbacks, mice in the pool area( I pointed this out to the realtor) and the house is down the street from four gay bar/drag clubs. We thought this was fun but others with young children may not like to stay in this end of town. -

We had 3 couples vacationing together and we preferred staying in the Old Town area, so Duval Roost was perfect for us. Three bedrooms and 3 baths made the house quite comfortable. The outside pool/deck area was great for 6. There were no loungers by the pool but plenty of deck chairs. The rental company was very accomodating. We would considering renting this house again!

Unfortunately when we stayed at Duval Roost, Key West was going through a rare cold snap, and Duval Roost doesn't have a heating system. 99% of the time this would not matter, but it was a little chilly for us. We found that Rent Key West was very responsive and a very easy company to work with. I would recommend dealing with them any time.
Duval Roost is well located, only 1/2 block off Duval Street, but we didn't hear a thing. It has all the amenities,including two great, huge bedrooms upstairs with queen-size beds. My friend and I chose to sleep in the twin-bed room rather than share a queen size bed. (If it had been king-size, we would have been comfortable in it.) The twin-bed (kids) bedroom is very small and desperately needs redecorating so that it looks less like a kids room, but the little beds were comfortable. I would rent it again if I could have an upstairs bedroom. -

The house was perfectly represented by Rent Key West. I cannot stress enough how nice the deck/pool area is compared to the other properties we looked at. Rent Key West made the whole process easy. We got to the property late and the keys did not work. I called the emergency number and Paul said he would be there in 10 minutes. He was there quicker than ten minutes with the right keys and this was at like 9:30 on Monday night!! The location of the house is within walking distance to everything but behind Duval by only a block so you don't hear anything and don't smell any smells from nearby cafe's. The house itself had everything we needed and more, although we never did find the remote for the downstairs tv!! I am sure Rent KW has taken care of that by now. There is one full bath and another half bath downstairs, we thought there was only a half bath. The 2 bedrooms upstairs were very nice, and quite large. No complaints here. Rent Key West has my number, if you're on the fence about this house call me...we LOVED it and loved working with Paul and all the nice folks at Rent Key West. You have some return customers here!!

The house is in a great location to walk anywhere. Quick access to Duval. Though I leave near and brought many things I thought we would need, the house had almost anything you need. All in my party were surprised how much was there. A overall nice rental and I would do it again.

I was treated like royalty from the initial e-mail correspondence to every personal telephone call I made to the office with questions. To be able to have our luggage shipped UPS to the office to avoid airline mistakes was a JOY! The home was spotless and looked just like the internet photos. Everything worked and boy did we use the laundry facilities!!! The pool area was lush and private. The location was PERFECTION! Walking distance to everything a vacationeer could want.
I loved the quiet of this homes end of lane location. The total pkg. made for the perfect New Years Tropical Get-A-Way. We have already booked the Southard House for our New Year Get-A-Way for 2009. This will be our third Rent Key West Vacations home. We haven't been disapointed yet!!

This was an amazing vacation for a group of friends that still talk about it months later. This property is centrally located, basically equal distance from Southern Most Point and Mallory Square. The house had everything we could have needed for our stay and the pool was cleaned several times during the week.
The staff offered us many great suggestions from fishing to great places to eat.
We did have a small issue....a/c didn't work when we first arrived. The office had already closed, but we called and staff arrived quickly. They even waited, while we went to eat, for the serviceman to come to complete the repair.
We are currently contemplating our next vacation and aren't sure how anything could be as great as our Key West trip. We would definately return and we hope that "our house" is available. -

This house turned out to be perfect for 5 women (cousins) on our biannual Chick Trip. There were 3 bedromms and 3 1/2 baths (always important for women to have access to mirrors!)and a great little pool with nice deck area if we didn't go to the beach. Location was perfect for walking to shops and restaurants on Duval St. Renting a house makes sense so that some meals can be prepared there which saves $. Would definitely recommend this place & would return there myself.

We loved the house and the location. The only reason we didn't give it 5 stars was because somebody had a wedding reception right next door with live music. This noisy affair went well into the night and it was on one of the weekday nights that we stayed there. I believe there is a noise ordinance that was just basically ignored. Otherwise, this is an ideal place to stay.

We really enjoyed the big, open air surroundings at the Duval Roost. It is very convenient to the middle of Duval St. The house was very comfortable, and easily cared for. We really enjoyed our one week stay, but had minor issues with the clothes washer (the door latch was balky) and the pool water quality (some in our party suffered U. T. infections later in our stay). All in all, though, a wonderful experience that we would recommend...
