January Stay at the Kealia Resort

The resort is a well maintained, small condo complex located at the extreme north end of Kehei. The building is very close to the ocean and our room offered a fine view of Sugar Beach and the water (the unit's binoculars allowed us to whale watch from the lanai). The resort is centrally located for those who wish to see other parts of the island (northwest to Lahina and Kaanapali, south to Wailea, north to Kahului, or east to the Haleakala Crater).
Our unit was immaculate with a fantastic kitchen. The unit was smaller than it appeared in the posted photos (the photographer did a great job) but the size was just fine for a couple or a small family. Room size is less important in Maui than elsewhere because so much time is spent outdoors. We especially enjoying cooking an occasional dinner on the communal barbecue grills located by the pool. The residents and guests are very friendly and we met some nice people at the grills. Many folks gather by the beach at sunset to watch the sun dive into the ocean.
All in all, the Kealia Resort is a great place for folks looking for a quiet, clean, comfortable, centrally located, beachside place that offers good value (at least by Maui standards).

We were delighted with our georgeous view from our private lanai - looking across a perfect lawn with lovely tropical trees and plants to a super, close view of the beach, with a curved bay down the beach about a mile or so and a mountain beyond that. The condo had beautiful and special appointments and amenities, so that everywhere you looked it felt tropical and high quality. We loved it!

We didn't actually spend a lot of time in the room (so much to do!) but it fit our needs well. The tropical decor really added to the stay and made us feel like we weren't just staying in another average hotel room. The lanai was great for eating breakfast on. Only problem was the tub wasn't draining the 3 days we were there...
