Our beachfront, ocean view condo, Kauhale Makai #430, is on the fourth floor facing the ocean. The entire suite has panoramic Maui ocean and sunset views. The lanai extends from the living room to the bedroom with two large sliding doors opening to unobstructed ocean and sunset views. It was remodeled in December 2010 with tile flooring throughout and granite counters. It has a fully equipped kitchen with new appliances, a 32” flat screen TV and DVD in the living room, a flat screen TV and DVD in the bedroom. Kauhale Makai is a 169 unit complex consisting of two six floor building. Each building, Plumeria to the south and Anthurium to the north, includes an inter courtyard where you enter the units. The area between the two buildings includes a putting green, gas grills, a pool area with hot tub and manicured gardens. The complex also offers a sauna. The office is fully staffed and can help you with any questions you may have and includes an activity desk to handle your entertainment or activity plans.
The oceanfront property borders Waipuilani County Park comprising six tennis courts, two shuffleboard courts, volleyball, and the coral Waipuilani Beach. Equipment is available in the office. The beach is perfect for morning jogs or long walks. Calm ocean mornings are active with kayaking and canoe club activities. The trade winds in afternoon result in lively windsurfers and kite surfers.
Excellent restaurants, golf courses, beaches, art galleries and shopping are nearby. Maui is recognized for its outstanding diving, snorkeling and golf. Haleakala, the world’s largest dormant volcano, hosts spectacular sunrises.

The condo was very much "as advertised". It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The view was incredible. If you are looking for a central location in a quiet condominium complex, this one is an excellent choice. The complex is very well maintained, the condo was very clean and well equipped. We were very happy with our choice. The owners knew it was our honeymoon and asked their property management company to provide us with a bottle of champagne. What a lovely, thoughful gesture!!!
The owners even called us personally to ask how our stay was. Would highly recommend this condo. -

We loved staying in this condo. Good location. Very clean. Loved the tile floors thru out the unit.(no nasty carpet!) All the conveniences of home. Great view from lanai. Loved the breeze at night. Sitting out there with a cold beverage watching the sun go down - priceless. Did it again over morning coffee!! Never felt unsafe. Grounds are well kept. Pool area great. Would come back in a minute! Will recommend to family & friends. The pictures on the website are accurate. Mahalo for letting us use it!!!

pros: Excellent Price/Value, Beautiful View, Very Clean/Nice, Everything needed was provided, utensils/ spices, picnic stuff, close to shopping and excellent beaches/ restaurants
cons: Bit far Kaanapali/ Lahaina area where most of the action is.
This Kauhale Makai Location is not much of a beach, although excellent beaches are merely a mile away -

We loved our stay in Kauhale Makai unit 430. The view was wonderful. We were amazed to see the view of whales most days, not to mention the wonderful sunsets from the lanai. The condominium was very clean and tastefully updated with tile floors, new appliances and fixtures and granite countertops. Since we like to cook we appreciated that the kitchen was well equipped. We had everything we needed. We plan on inquiring about this condominium for our next visit to Maui.
