Description from the manager
Tommy Bahama comes to Kihei Surfside. Unit 510 has the island tropical feel but with an upscale style. Warm tones, beautiful furnishings and decor, including tiled floors and beautiful rugs greet you as you enter. This unit is a cut above the typical
condo interior!
For those who know Kihei Surfside, Unit 510 was a 1-bedroom, 1.5-bath floorplan, but both baths were combined to make one large bathroom with a glass block Bali-style walk-in shower enclosure, adding another unique touch to the unit. At night you'll
enjoy the comfort of sleeping in a CA king bed!! The kitchen was completely updated with granite countertops and dr...Read more

Left on 02/25/2012 for a stay in February 2012
This was our first stay in the south Kihei area. We had previously stayed in the Sugar Beach area numerous times and enjoyed that area. We were very pleased with the location of the Kihei Surfside and liked the proximity of the room to the beach (a two minute walk from this property). The beach was very accessible for swimming, boarding, kayaking, and snorkeling, and there are rentals nearby so you don't have to go looking all over town. The other guests were very hospitable and we were invited to a Valentine's Party the first day we were there. Keep in mind when a property is booked, you get what you pay for, and we believe we got our money's worth. Look for us again when the whales return next year. The only thing we could say bad about the time we were there was that darn rooster across the street who loved to crow in the early morning hours. Mahalo

Left on 01/27/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We've stayed at different properties every year for the past 15 years and unfortunately this was the most disappointing. The lack of air conditioning forced us to have the windows open. With the bedroom on the parking lot side it was extremely noisy. The combination of noise & the extremely hard bed made it nearly impossible to sleep at night. We did not come home rested like we usually do from Maui. The staff, however, was very pleasant. So sorry, I wouldn't recommend this property.

The Kihei Surfside resort is not equipped with air-conditioning, nor are portable units allowed. The oceanfront location provides cooling trade winds, plus the unit is equipped with ceiling fans in the living room and bedroom areas, plus portable fans are available to complete your comfort. The owner has provided a high-quality, firm mattress. We're sorry you didn't find it to your personal comfort. ~Hawaii Holiday management

Left on 01/13/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We enjoyed out stay very much. Everything was clean and as we expected. The code for door entry worked well and was very convenient. The only thing I wish I would have known is that there was no shampoo or conditioner. We had to go to the store the night we got there, so we would have it for the next morning. Otherwise, we were 99% satisfied! It was a wonderful vacation! Thank you.

I've been staying at Surfside for 15 years. Used this rental agency only because I needed an extra condo for a friend (I rent direct from owners). It is my tranquil, peaceful, rejuvenating retreat. LOVE it all.
Appreciate the quiet hours. Think the rental agencies need to send a stronger message about quiet hours and that this is a quiet place.
Advised Surfside management to bring this up at the next owner's association meeting.Response from Hawaii Holiday Vacation Rentals - 09/29/2011

Left on 08/19/2011 for a stay in August 2011
I researched upwards of 50-60 condo choices and this one was a clear winner ... but once we got to the apartment it turned out to be even better than I had hoped. The furnishings and interiors are much higher end than the building or other apartments might
have you believe. The location is simply awesome, the views are stunning (right on the ocean) and is at one end of one of maui's very best beaches. We loved every moment of our stay there. (a word of warning: no airconditioning, which we could have used on
one or two afternoons) -

The D,V.D. doesn't work or if it does there are no instructions to give you some help. The place was remodeled 10 years ago and in most part is still very nice. We get the impression that the new owner is not going to put any money into keeping the condo up. On our arrival the lock box didn't work and we needed to contact the emergency number. Barrie, from the company was very responsive and very helpful. But in the end we had to pay for a long distance call on our cell. Also there was to be 2 keys but the owner who was in before us only left one.
However the Surfside is a wonderful place to stay and we would recommend the building to all going to Maui.

We absolutely LOVED the condo, it was wonderful! The only things we can suggest would be to have better cleaning items, such as new sponges and some glass cleaner to use on the glass table. We had to go out and buy sponges because the ones in the condo were disgusting. Also, there were only two large beach towels. There could be a few more being that we didn't want to use the white towels on the beach. We will also be glad that the elevator problem will be fixed the next time we come. It made so much noise the first four nights we were there that we woke up constantly throughout the night. I hear it is being fixed this week. Overall, a wonderful condo that we will certainly book again. Mahalo! Dean and Lotte, Bellevue, WA

1. A new mattress on the pull out couch is definitely needed. My daughter felt like she was sleeping on the springs. Very uncomfortable.
2. The check out process was confusing. I didn't realize I was suppose to leave the after hours key back in the lock spot and just leave keys in the condo. I thought I had to check out with the desk manager and in that process I lost a door key. It wasn't clear to me that the desk manager was only there to manage the office. I thought she was there to assist the tenants like a concierge in a hotel. -

We really enjoyed the Kihei Surfside.Unit #510 it was great ,our compliments to owners. The decore was very homey. Our only complaint was the bedroom windows didn't open making sleeping hard with no cross draft to stay would have been nice to have air condition to cool unit down, before going to bed.The people who reside there are great. Its a community all on its own. We'll be back, will recommend to friends.

Left on 01/14/2010 for a stay in December 2009
We stayed at the surfside for 7 nights over Christmas. We love the location, walking distance to a great beach and the view from the lanai is wonderful. We watched whales breeching right from our lanai. The condo was clean and had nice decor. We arrived to find a nice gift basket with fruit, nuts, and coffee which was a nice gesture. If we were to return to the Surfside again with our kids we would probably try to get a 2 bedroom. We got a little cramped towards the end of the week. The only other issue we found during our stay was that the bedroom was in the back of the building closest to the parking lot and walkway. Even with the windows closed at night, it was noisy. If we didn't have our kids with us we probably would have slept on the sofa sleeper ourselves to avoid the noise of horns and loud people at night and enjoy the sound of the waves instead. Overall, I would recommend this unit but suggest only two occupants for the space it has.

We really enjoyed being so close to several beaches, the great views, susnets and the General Manager's presence. We also appreciated the "quiet hours," and that others abided by these hours (as we tend to enjoy open windows and ocean breezes)

We love this building and its location. Beautiful ocean views. We have stayed in this building twice now. There was some maintenance work being done to the bathroom ceiling. Nothing to interfere with its function just not pretty to look at. The bedroom windows, screens were in poor condtion. We couldn't crank more than one out for ventilation. Upon arriving we did not have a code to get into the condo. I wasn't sent one. I went down to the building manager's apartment for help, thinking because it was after hours, she'd left the office. She was rude. I eventually got a number to punch into a lock box on the door that contained the key. Despite these couple issues I would still return to this building and this unit. Upon our arrival we had a welcome back basket from the rental agency since this was the second time that we worked with them and stayed in the building. It was so nice and a great surprise.

The location is ideal & the tenants of Surfside are very welcoming & friendly especialy at sunset for the Conch shell blowing tradition. The only concern we had were the shutter-style windows, operating mechanisms not working properly allowing to close them completely. Windy days caused them to whistle. They are original to the building we believe & should be replaced. Otherwise we loved our Maui vacation & will be back!!! Mahalo!

Maui is a wonderful place to visit if you are looking for a slower paced holiday. There were shops to visit, but the beach and activities on the island was where we spent most of our time. The location of our condo was about a 1/2 block from the beach; just perfect. We enjoyed coffees and glasses of wine on the balcony while watching the whales. The strip mall was about 4 blocks away, and happy hour about 5 blocks. Close enough that we could not justify taking the vehicle; we enjoyed the ocean view along with the many flowers along the way. We are already planning a return trip to island. Our dream would be to open a small business as this would allow us to enjoy the island everyday. Mahala to all the islanders who made our trip so special.
