Description from the owner

Our guests love it! Stunning sunsets and Napali Coast Mountain views and lush forest surroundings frame this amazing property that awaits your arrival. Relax on our deck and enjoy the gorgeous views and good company in the privacy of this sparkling cottage, the high, vaulted ceilings architecturally reminiscent of homes built in the early 1900s. It reflects how families have lived here in Hawaii for over five generations. Comfort, beauty, and handsome simplicity in tune with Hawaii's weather!

The Aloha Sunset Cottage is a romantic one bedroom, one bath, honeymoon cottage on 7 acres. We are located at the very end of a country road, quie...Read more

      Idylle auf der Blumeninsel

Left on 07/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012

      Wow

Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in June 2010

I stayed here back in 2008, but accidentally posted my review on the Sunrise Cottage page (on the same property and owned by the same extremely nice and helpful couple). Sunset popped up on my Tripadvisor email and I thought I'd fix my old mistake. This place rocks. The other reviews are spot-on. Privacy, peace, beautiful surroundings, great location, very well-appointed cottage, awesome hosts, great value for the price, I have nothing bad to say about this place. Go.

We traveled all over the island of Kauai and kept agreeing that our location at Sunset Cottage in Kilauea was the best by far. After seeing the crowds at Poipu and surrounding area, we were so thankful to have our quiet retreat up in Kilauea. The cottage is truly magnificent and there is really nothing about it one could not like. If you are looking for peace, tranquility and privacy, then there is no reason to search anywhere else. The cottage was spotlessly clean and had every amenity one could possibly need while traveling. Snorkel gear, beach towels, laundry facilities out back door, rain umbrellas, iron, hairdryer, beach chairs, movies, cds, tv, stereo...(thank you for providing the fun Blue Hawaii CD which we took along with us on every car trip and will forever hold that CD as our "soundtrack" to our week in Kauai). These extra amenities gave us the abiliy to travel light. The best part of our stay was waking up each morning to the amazing birdsong. What an alarm clock! I have never heard birds so pretty as the ones here. Snowflake the cat was a wonderful bonus to have on the property (she only stays on the front porch and never comes inside). The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals at home, dishes, knives, pots, pans, cutlery. Catherine and her husband were wonderful hosts and such lovely, nice people. It's icing on the cake knowing that such a nice property is provided by such loving and caring people who really care about their guests' comfort. Even though they live onsite, in a neighboring house, I never felt a lack of privacy whatsoever. This place is ideal for privacy and "getting away from it all". I actually wish we could have spent more time just relaxing at the cottage, because it was so nice. But we kept very busy as Kauai beckons with beautiful beaches and hiking trails to explore. I highly recommend this cottage, and if i ever return to Kauai know that I will certainly be staying here again.

      Exceeded Expectations in all Respects

Left on 05/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012

It simply doesn't get any better than aloha Sunset Cottage: Total privacy and tranquility on seven acres of a gorgeous garden and majestic setting, the best North Shore location, and an absolutely charming, spotlessly-clean cottage with every single detail thoughtfully covered. The fully-equipped kitchen, great king-size bed, large bathroom and exceptionally-tasteful furnishings make this accommodation extra special. There even is a choice of gear available for use at the many nearby magnificent beaches. This, our first stay at Sunset Cottage but only the most recent of many visits and stays in Kauai, definitely tops the list!

      Relaxing, lovely, delicious

Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Our six-day stay at the Sunrise Cottage was so wonderful. Our hosts were fantastic and so responsive. They were happy to answer all questions as we planned our itinerary for our stay. They made available hiking poles, snorkel gear, and beach chairs/towels/mats for our stay. They also had fresh produce (avocados, grapefruit, star fruit, bananas, limes, lemons, passion fruit) straight off the trees on the property waiting for us. We also were free to pick our own everyday (which we did!). Strong internet/phone signal helped us keep in touch over the holiday when we needed to. Lots of movies and interesting books to choose from in the cottage. The bed was very comfy and we slept incredibly well. The kitchen was well-furnished. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful, and we left so refreshed. We would definitely return here.

The Sunset Cottage provided us a private paradise in Paradise.

Left on 09/21/2011 for a stay in September 2011

Catherine and allen have created a paradise in Paradise. Authentic, un-corporatized homestyle graciousness, privacy and splendor. We can't imagine staying anywhere else and eagerly look forward to our return.
