This house is perfect for families with children, The house has all that you need to experience local island life. We most enjoyed our meals out on the lanai, the hammock, the gorgeous views and tranquility. We visited many beaches and we always came back saying that Quarry Beach just down the hill was our favorite.
The owners are very hospitable and friendly! We hope to come back again!!! -

Left on 04/02/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Kauai is beautiful, and this house offers a fabulous location. It's just a short walk down to a relatively secluded beach. The house itself was very cute and has a lot of amenities, including a canoe, porch with an AMAZING view, gorgeous property, wifi (google is very helpful when you're traveling), hammock, and a hot tub. Unfortunately for us the hot tub broke down after a couple days, but I still wouldn't choose any other location to stay on the island. The owner was very helpful and courteous, and I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a home away from home in paradise.

Seattle, Washington, USAWhy stay in a resort when you can stay in this just-right rental
Left on 10/25/2011 for a stay in October 2011
We loved our week in the rental, and made good use of the kitchen and grill for several meals. The huge lanai and gorgeous views (including a partial ocean view) made for the perfect setting for my now fiance's proposal. We also enjoyed starfruit and tangerines from the trees on the property, though the bananas were a bit out of reach. Also, the Na 'Aina Kai Botanical Gardens are a few-minute walk from the home, and the walkable beach seemed like our private beach. Despite the house being tucked away just off the road, it seemed very private, with only a small amount of road noise during waking hours from locals driving to/from the beach. The chickens were the only disruption, though they are found everywhere on the island, like pigeons in mainland cities. There were a few scattered bugs, but no more than what one would expect on the island. We had no difficulty exploring the entire island from our home base, and found we enjoyed the North Shore much more than the touristy South Shore. There was plenty of room for another couple if we return with friends, and the wifi and W/D were handy. The ceiling fans and air-flow window slots kept things cool. My only wish is that we had asked in advance whether we can visit the Kilauea Falls, as some online sources mentioned the trail was on private land, and we were unsure whether it would be acceptable to visit (and didn't know the directions to the trail). Also, for any visitors to Kauai, be wary of the rip currents, as even in shallow water one can be pulled out farther than expected.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful place.
The view from the lanai is breathtaking and the house is truly a home away from home with all the comforts one might want... and then some! The owners went out of their way to make this a great experience for us. The close bybeach is secluded and absolutely beautiful - great for boogie boarding and surfing. But of course there are plenty more fabulous beaches not far away, not to mention the hike along th Na Pali coast.
If you love nature and getting away from it all - this is the perfect place!

Highlights included close access to beaches, roosters crowing in the back yard, the thud of tropical rain, and bbq'd ahi on the porch.Kitchen meticulously labeled and stocked throughout with almost every imaginable utensil. We had a slight issue with hot tub and even though owners were in australia, they had people in the area who swiftly (and cheerfully) fixed the problem. While on the northeast shore, we had little problem accessing the rest of the island via rental car.

Left on 01/29/2011 for a stay in March 2010
We rented this home for our honeymoon in March 2010. We were looking for something very secluded, private and off the beaten path with great views and a hot tub. This property fit the bill exactly. The bedroom doors open up to the lanai with a view of the valley and ocean below with breezes throughout. I don't think we ever heard or saw another soul the whole week after we checked in. The outdoor shower was fantastic, the hot tub took some time to warm up but was very big and hot. It rained one day - really hard, a serious thunderstorm. As opposed to it being upsetting for us, we spent the day relaxing on the large covered lanai watching the rain, drinking smoothies in the hot tub.
The second week of our vacation was spent in Poipu, in the southern part of the island. In retrospect, we wished we had spent the entire 2 weeks here. The town was lovely, small, but had a cool Byob pizza shop, farmers market and a fish market where we bought fresh ahi and cooked it ourselves. The home was located mid-point on the north coast, so easily accessible to the entire north coast. It is extremely affordable for an entire home rental, especially on Kauai. The accommodations were clean and while not super ritzy, it really makes you feel like you are in your own private vacation home in Kauai, not at a hotel - way better in my opinion.
If we are ever lucky enough to come back to Kauai we will be returning to this home! -

We really enjoyed our stay at Hale Kai Kalani. The house was on a quiet drive that was easy to get in and out of. The view off the back deck was beautiful as well as entertaining with the wildlife. There is a very nice beach within walking distance. The house was well stocked with amenities and the owners where helpful.

We stayed a couple of weeks and found it an all round excellent vacation experience. The view was spectacular. The location was private, quiet and away from it all. The house was comfortable and felt like home for a couple of weeks. Breakfast on the patio and a soak in the hot tub with the panoramic view restored sanity. Walks to the beach

We had a wonderful time and spent 10 unbelievable days here. It was ideal for our kids but as we had our 10th Wedding aniversary here as well it was also very romantic for us.
The area is fantastic. Having had the lagoon so close by we spent nearly most of the time there. We enjoyed eating the many excotic fruits as well as watching the birds and geckos.
Cyndee and Bruce are such lovely people and we would always come back again. Hopefully in the near future! -

Exceeded our expectations! Fantastic location, lovely private grounds with flowers, and beautiful birds, comfortable, clean accommodations, private beach within walking distance, beautiful views from lanai, all located across the lane from gorgeous botanical gardens and very near Kileau Lighthouse NWR. All this and fragrance free. Can't wait to return.

Hale Kai Kalani was the perfect house for our family. The location made getting to either end of the island easy ,and the nearby beaches were both beautiful and uncrowded. The house was extremely comfortable and homely and provided everything you could possibly want, from the well appointed kitchen to boogie boards and sand toys for the kids. The spa and hammock enhance the serene setting. We plan to return in the not too distant future.

My husband and I stayed at Hale Kai Kalani for our honeymoon in Kuaui. The beauty of the home, view and enviroment was far beyond either of our expectations. The house is lovely and very tastefully decorated. The kitchen is great and has everything you need to cook every meal during your stay. The beds and furniture are very comfortable. We spent a lot of time outside on the lanai in the hammock! If you want a quiet, relaxed getaway, this is the place for you. The house is very secluded and private and the neighborhood is generally very quiet. The surrounding garden of the house is just beautiful - lots of flowers. The house is located near several beaches and a bit of a drive to some main towns where you can get food etc. Plenty of beach toys for kids as well as adults i.e. boogie boards. There is also a grill in the back. Don't forget to rent a non-convertible car so you can take advantage of their canoe! We forgot that point and were disappointed we didn't get to use it. All in all, this rental was perfect for what we were looking for - quiet, relaxed and beautiful. Don't miss out on this gem!

My husband and I stayed here for a week to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We loved the home. It was very well furnished. Nice bedding & towels.Nice touches like fresh flowers throughout the home when we arrived - including fresh herbs in the kitchen. Everything you need for a stay by the beach was here. We really enjoyed the boogie boards and had so much fun at the beach down the road. One beautiful afternoon we were there for a few hours and had the whole beach to ourselves. The location was great. It was just a short drive to some awesome snorkeling spots, fun shopping and good local restaurants. But when we stayed home, we were in our own secluded piece of paradise. We spent nearly all our time at the house on the lanai as the view is just too great to pass up.

We has 10 magical days in this lovely house would particularly recommend for both of a family holiday or a romantic escape (we are also hoping to return!). What is maybe not evident from the pictures, is the sense of privacy and seclusion that one savours here, as well as the magnificient views both from the house itself, the deck (completed with hammock and hot tub) or from the 15 walk down to the beach. We loved it all and were very sorry to have to leave!
