Additional Location Information
We are in the exclusive Kalihiwai Ridge section of Kauai just outside the resort community of Princeville. We are minutes from either Princeville, Hanalei or the quiet and spiritual town of Kilauea. There are farmers markets almost daily in the towns of Kilauea and Hanalei. Behind the home is a 500 acre farm with a 6 mile hiking trail that can be accessed from the back yard of Ke Aloha. Guests have the choice to hike 2, 3 or all 6 miles depending on their chosen route. The hike takes you to a picturesque waterfall with places to picnic and tropical gardens. This rental offers total seclusion in a tropical setting while at the same time placing you minutes from the best beaches and towns. There is no other location on the north shore that can offer this amenity.
THE COUNTY OF KAUAI REQUIRES THAT ALL LEGAL TVR RENTALS PROVIDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION TO ALL GUESTS:

FOR THE SAFETY AND COMFORT OF YOU AND YOUR NEIGHBORS
Though you may have already read similar information in your rental agreement and this letter above, some very important information bears repeating. You are in an agricultural neighborhood. We want your visit to Kauai to be safe and enjoyable for both you and your neighbors.

1. Please Be Good Neighbors

A)Keep noise to a minimum, especially before 8:00 am and after 9:00 pm. Your neighbors (although, in our case, distant) probably have to go to work the next day, so please be considerate.
B)Turn off outdoor lights at night whenever possible. We enjoy our dark nights when the stars are bright and beautiful. Of equal importance, our wildlife can become disoriented at night if lights are too bright. County rules allow only 3 vehicles on the property. Please be sure you park only on property in the designated areas in front of the house and on the concrete driveways only.
C)This property sits within the State Agricultural DIstrict and adjacent parcels may engage in intensive farming. As a result this property may experience noise, fugitive dust and other environmental impacts associated with good farming practices. Please refrain from calling or reporting such activity to any government agencies.
Beach Safety

Be mindful of the surf. Our shorelines face thousands of miles of open ocean. Northern winter storms and southern summer storms can bring us extremely dangerous surf conditions. NEVER turn your back on the ocean – summer or winter. Rogue waves can appear even in calm surf conditions. You can check ocean conditions at www.KauaiExplorer.com/oceanreport. There are lifeguards at Haena Beach Park, Hanalei Pavilion, Lydgate, Poipu Beach Park, Salt Pond and Kekaha. For your family’s safety, we advise that you check with lifeguards before going into the ocean.
911

In case of fire or medical emergency, call 9-1-1. The address and phone number of your accommodation is posted on the inside of both bedroom doors. For non-emergency assistance, please call Police Dispatch at 241-1711. The phone number for Wilcox Hospital in Lihue is 808-245-1100. The closest emergency treatment center is Mahelona Hospital 808-822-4961 up the hill on your right as you enter Kapa’a.
Weather

The island does experience flash flooding during periods of heavy rain. If you must drive in this kind of weather, drive with extreme caution. Severe weather could result in the temporary closing of the main road out of Hanalei. For the most up to the minute Traffic and Weather information, please call 808-241-1725. You can also visit www.NOAA.com While at the house, you are safely on high ground.
Disaster Emergencies

On the first business day of each month at 11:45 am, our Civil Defense sirens are tested. However, if you hear these sirens at any other time, please tune to AM radio station KQNG (“KONGâ€) at AM 570 for real-time reports and instructions. Also, the front of the Kaua’i phone book has emergency, disaster, evacuation and shelter information. Hurricane emergency supplies have been provided and are located in the garage.
Emergency Escape Route

In case of fire, the safest escape route from each downstairs bedroom is through the sliding glass door which leads directly outside. Upstairs bedrooms should exit the home by way of the main stairs then out the front or back door. As soon as safely possible, please call 911.
Security

Although theft in our neighborhood is uncommon, please be cautious with your personal belongings. It is always best to lock up your valuables. Lock the doors and windows when you leave the property.
Farming Activity

Please be aware that you are staying on a small working farm which is surrounded by other working farms. With this farm activity comes potential noise, fugitive dust, farm equipment on roads and other environmental impacts.
Island Driving Etiquette

•Please honor the posted speed limits. Frequently check your rear view mirror. If more than 4 or 5 cars are stacking up behind you, pull completely off to the side of the road and let them pass. This can also help you when driving at night as our dark roads can be confusing.
•If you are lost, remember that this is a small island and you will find your way soon. Keep driving until you find a safe place to pull over and turn around. Never make a U-turn on the highway.
When navigating the one-lane bridges, cross the bridges caravan style. It is usually appropriate for 5 or 6 cars to cross at a time. A simple rule of thumb: Drain the lane; if you arrive late – wait.
•When parking at the beaches, park, or sight-seeing locations be sure to park fully off the street, in assigned or clearly marked parking spaces. •If you want to stop to enjoy the scenery, please pull completely off to the side of the road. •All vehicular parking related to this use and property, including maintenance vehicles, shall be accommodated on the subject property at all times. On - Street parking shall not be permitted at any time

Underwood, WABlissful - dreaming of returning
Left on 04/05/2013 for a stay in November 2012
We had a truly amazing time, and I would definitely attribute it to the home, location, and property. The house accommodated our larger group beautifully - both sleeping arrangements and meals, dining inside and outside. The house had everything we needed from kitchen, endless fruit trees, games, outdoor toys in the garage to the luxury of the yoga studio, gym, and pool. Honestly it was hard to leave this amazing compound, as the grounds are beautiful and expansive. I enjoyed a daily trail run out of the backyard into an amazing trail network - the destination always the stone dam that is a must experience. We feasted on the abundant fruit on the property from morning orange juice to all you can eat avocados. Every detail was perfect. I can't say enough about our trip, the home, the owners, and our experience. Our 4 year old daughter continues to ask, "When are we going back to Kaui?" I feel the same way, and we will definitely choose this location again. Thank you for the wonderful memories that we have taken away.

Houston, TexasFantastic property and a great place for vacation
Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in November 2012
My wife and I went with our extended family (12 people) to Hawaii for a week including five nights at Ke aloha. The property is beautiful. Our kids really enjoyed picking and eating the plentiful local fruits. We spent many hours sitting on the back porch admiring the view and great breeze. The kids got in some swimming time. During our stay there were some problems with the spa heater, but otherwise the facilities were excellent. We all really loved the proximity of the house to the beach, Princeville and Hanalei. This was a great way to save money over putting everyone into a resort hotel. Before going, I was worried about the lack of air conditioning. This never ended up being a problem as the breeze kept the house and area cool. Overall, a great visit.

Our vacation was just great! Glen & Kim have a super home with every amenity possible. Not having ever been to Kauai before we were a bit uneasy about renting a house from a total stranger. Not only was it a top notch home but they put us in touch with some very talented masseuses, made reservations on a incredible zip line tour, suggested great hikes, shopping tips to make our stay one will we not forget.
We hope to come back soon, next time for a little longer. -

VancouverThe gorgeous home you wished you never had to leave.
Left on 02/10/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We spent 10 nights in January at the charming Ke aloha estate. This house lived up to, and exceeded, all our expectations. We were 5 couples and a bevy of small children - very very happy cousins - 5 and under. From when I first got in touch with Glenn he answered all my questions, no matter how inane, with generosity and extreme helpfulness. Glenn also helped us make arrangements for renting baby equipment and would answer all our emails practically immediately (when does he sleep?) both before we got there and throughout our stay.
The house is lovely, 5 bedrooms well-spaced out over 2 floors. There is one room with 2 twin beds so I'd recommend the house for up to 4 couples, with the kids in the twin beds room.
The upstairs kitchen was nicer than any of us had at home, with a gas range and electric juicer for the abundance of oranges growing on the estate. We loved picking fruit in the orchard on the property (a perfect distraction for all the kids) - delicious oranges, tangelos, coconuts, avocados - really the best avocados I had ever had. If you are there at the right time, there are banana trees too!
The pool was lovely. The garage was fully stocked with all the pool and beach gear you might need.
The house is a short (gorgeous) drive to many kid-friendly and surfer-friendly beaches. While you are not right in town or on the beach, and some people really need this, the location was perfect for us because it was completely safe (no surf or roads for the kids to run into - but watch the pool!) and peaceful.
This is a great place for families to stay together, because some folks can be on the kids while others head out for a bike ride on the trails which run right past the pool (to a waterfall) or have a massage in the amazing gym/yoga room cottage (Glenn helps to arrange this too of course) or take a quick trip into town for a restaurant date (if you are that lucky).
We had never been to Kauai before and we all loved it and can't wait to go back!Response from Glenn & Kimi - 02/10/2013

Haha...I love the part where you said "When does he sleep". Thank you Lisa. It was fun working with you and I am so glad your first trip to Kauai was more than you expected. Perhaps Kauai will become a special place for you and your family as they grow up. It has been that for my kids, ever since the first time we brought them there as little ones.

The house was more than what we expected from the pictures on the website. It was absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The property is massive with fruit trees everywhere and wild animals (friendly) roaming around the property. The home was completely stocked with everything we needed, and a local grocery store nearby provided everything else we couldn't find. The location of the house was easy to get to, although it took a while driving there since the road was only 25mph on the entire island. The drive to the house was scenic so being stuck in that type of traffic was not too bad. I would love to comeback to Kauai and I will definitely stay in this house when I do.

CalgaryFantastic place to relax and get married!
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We were fortunate to stay at Ke aloha for a week in august. This was our second time traveling to Kauai, and also our second time renting a property from Glenn and Kim.
We had high expectations for Ke aloha and are happy they were not only met but exceeded. The entire estate was clean and was by far the best equipped vacation property we have ever rented.
We were happy to spend our mornings and afternoons at the many nearby beaches and the remainder of our days lounging in and around the property's pool. We held all of our dinners out on the lanai that comfortably accommodated our group of 12 people. The children travelling in our group had no problem occupying themselves with the playground, shallow end of the pool, fruit trees and expansive space to run around.
After arriving and viewing the grounds we made the decision to hold our wedding ceremony on the property. The mountain view and natural landscaping ensured our wedding photos showcased the beauty of Kauai.
We are extremely happy to have rented from Glenn and his wife again because they are so hospitable and accommodating! All of our questions were answered promptly and they went out of their way to ensure our experience was perfect.
We can't wait to return!Response from Glenn & Kimi - 10/16/2012

Thank you so much Amanda and Joel. We too went to Kauai 18 years ago for our destination wedding and it has brought us great happiness. As a result, Kauai has been a big part of our families lives. I am sure it will be the same for you.

CalgaryKe aloha Estate has everything you could ever need!
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We had the pleasure of staying at Ke aloha Estate for a small family wedding in august 2012. The home easily accommodated the 8 adults and 3 children in our party. The kitchen was well stocked and most meals were enjoyed on the lanai.
Glenn is incredibly helpful, and responds quickly to requests. He has stocked the home with all the beach and sports equipment you could ever need. At our request, he was also able to provided a high chair, stroller and playpen for the baby in our group.
The grounds were beautiful, and they coupled with the view provided a majestic backdrop for the small wedding we held there. The children had no end of fun playing on the play set, lawn, and in the orchards. The pool and hot tub were a highlight and were put to use almost every waking moment we were at the house.
We would not hesitate to rent with Glenn again, we had a great experience!
