      Peacefull, idyllic setting

Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in December 2012

The house was spacious and well equipped and had spectacular views across the loch. We were made to feel welcome in an unobtrusive way. We enjoyed all the facilities the house had to offer and swam in the pool every day, the games room and kitchen were also well used.

My one slight niggle would be that the heating was not fantastic and some rooms were a little cold.

Ellen, The owner accepts your point about being a bit cold and is on the case! You were there around Christmas time and the weather was cold and windy which in a beautiful but exposed spot by the sea can make it difficult to keep everywhere cosy. One of the heaters was broken while you were there - easily fixed but unfortunately previousw customers did not inform us. To make sure this does not happen again the owner is in the process right now of fitting all the windows with double glazing and improving the insulation as well as heating. We would love to have you back to show you the problem has been sorted - why not come in the summer as well!”

Fun filled family getaway at Crispie House

Left on 01/13/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Crispie House is the perfect property for a fun filled family getaway. Our large group of friends and family often go on holiday together and we have rented several properties at home and abroad. Our group comprises girls and guys, some couples and some singles, the youngest is 17 and the oldest is 55 and every one of them has a list of 'essential' requirements as long as your arm. Crispie House ticks all the boxes and some.
Liz, the caretaker was friendly and helpful without being at all intrusive. Obviously certain maintenance has to be carried out on a regular basis for the benefit of all visitors, such as chlorine in the pool. She explained this when she welcomed us to the house and suggested that perhaps if we were planning a day out she could come at that time in order not to disturb us. We were happy for Liz to carry out this essential task whilst we were in the house and as it turned out most of our party didn't even know she had been.
These are just a few of our many highlights:
Discovering the dining room windows make an excellent sound proof viewing gallery into the games room when spectators were banned from the games room itself for heckling the players ( some of our group fancied themselves as Hurricane Higgins and took our pool tournament rather seriously)
Hide and Seek, this house was made for it, regress to your childhood self, it's excellent fun.
Everyone sitting down at the table for meals at the same time ( despite best intentions this rarely happens at home)
Male members of our party re-discovering their caveman origins whilst failing miserably to light the fire with a mountain of firelighters. Whilst the ladies got a good blaze going from a twist of newspaper and a twig.
Our 2 year old yellow Lab so exhausted from swimming in the loch and exploring the local area, he has to be woken up to come get his dinner. Unheard of!

      And here's the nitty gritty:
The bedrooms are more attractive and spacious than they look in the photos.
The beds are really comfy and the bedlinen is obviously of a very high quality.
The pool room is lovely and warm and the pool is heated ( we have rented properties before where the pool is so cold as to be un-usable. Not so at Crispie)
There are an abundance of pool towels.
The kitchen is well equipped and as the main cook I really appreciated the three ovens. The washer upers equally appreciated the two dish washers.
      Lots of hot water.
I received my full good house keeping deposit cheque via first class post two days after we returned home. Take it from me, this is impressive. In the past I have had to wait weeks.

And here's the gripes (such as they are):
The water is slightly brown. This didnt bother me, I actually thought it had a very subtle sweet taste but some more delicate members of our party found it off putting.
The dining room is on the cold side as the heater in there didnt appear to work.
The road into the property is a bit rough but there again this is the price you pay for the fantastic location right by the loch.
Having to be out by 10am on the final day is a shock to the system but to be honest we probably just didnt want to leave.
Crispie House is obviously a well loved family home. It has a warm, relaxed and faintly quirky character about it. We loved our time there, would love to return sometime and would recommend it to to anyone.

      Invasion of privacy

Left on 08/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012

House was lovely view fantastic, pool, games room all very nice. however we were very disappointed that on a beautiful sunny day, the family were all on the lawn enjoying the sunshine, the owner appeared with her ride on law mower, drove onto the lawn (without asking our permission) and started cutting the grass!! We Could not believe it, we all had to move inside, our lovely afternoon ruined!! The grass should be cut prior to people arriving on holiday, not when they are sitting on the lawn! Later that evening my husband and i were sitting in the garden when the owner appeared again, this time to check the pool, on her way into the pool area she turned to us and said "sorry about earlier, it's a pain when I have to do that". She did not care that she had ruined our afternoon!! On the Friday morning she appeared again! without warning, entered the pool area, came out and told a family member, who happened to be sitting in the garden, that we could not to use the pool for a couple of hours.

We did not like the fact the owner did not respect our privacy, they attended to the pool without us knowing they were on the property. She came only once to tell us she was checking the pool. We understand checks have to be done, and there would not have been a problem giving her access, but To do checks and enter the pool area without our permission is an Invasion of privacy, we will not return for this reason.

      Manager

We are very sorry if the House Manager made you feel uncomfortable during your stay. They have to attend to the pool occasionally each week to make sure that the water is kept clean and fresh. The lady who carried this out did in fact ask one of your party whether it was in order to do so at the time and was told it was no problem. Regarding the grass cutting, there is a lot of grass (several acres) which takes a long time to cut (days not hours) and can only be done when the weather is dry - it has not been an easy year! There is not enough time to do this between occupations. The lady who did the mowing when you were there left it as late in the day as possible to minimise the disturbance to you however we are sorry if she did not inform you in advance. This is one of our most popular properties and previous customers have been delighted.

Relaxing stay in a beautiful setting

Left on 04/24/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Fantastic and very well thought out , well equipped house with great attention to detail. Quite remote but we saw this as a big advantage! The house suited our diverse group very well with lots of space for everyone to relax and plenty to do. Great to have use of the boat too. We all want to go again!

Relaxing family week on Loch Fyne

Left on 07/20/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Spacious house had everything for a great family holiday wth good swimming pool, games room, various games and books. Good kitchen facilities, comfortable beds and lounge furniture. Fab views and great private location. Very thorough induction by caretakers! Disappointed not given use of the boat on first day (Sunday) which was the best day of holiday weather wise. Disappointed there were no showers in the bathrooms, only one 'public' shower in the pool. No hairdryer provided either. Although we had Sky TV & internet, there was no radio/CD player. Midge repellant needed for mornings & evenings. Long bumpy access road needs pot holes fixing. However, very relaxing and enjoyable week.

Memorable stay, superb location, watch the potholes on the track

Left on 01/19/2011 for a stay in December 2010

Excellent property for a family holiday. Extremely clean and comfortable and very well equiped with wonderful views. Swimming pool, sauna and games room provide lots of leisure opportunities. Video/DVD collection is a bit limited and board games include a wide collection of murder mysteries but no chess set.

      Beautiful Remote

Left on 11/09/2010 for a stay in October 2010

The house itself is absolutely stunning, and although a little remote our large group are used to entertaining ourselves and the house itself has fantastic facilities. We were well looked after by the house keepers but be aware, you will only get use of the boat if you can prove you have experience, which came as a surprise and was a big disappointment for our holiday.
