The cottage offers open closets, floor plans and rooms (of the times) including solid wood doors and trim and an array of decor that reflect the uniqueness of its age. We were very please the PS1 rental unit. It was clean, roomy and stocked with all of the amenities of home. Private walk to the beach and new pool were pluses as well. Definitely would come back for a stay here.

It was better than I expected. House is located near the beach. Kitchen and/or dining room is kind of small regarding the number of beds in the house. Since there was no shelf or extension cord, to use the toaster, I had to come up with innovative solutions...
Overall, I definitely recommend PS1...
But I would appreciate Friday check-in option considering the time I spent in the car (10 hrs from DC to OBX vice versa).Response from Seaside Vacations* - 09/03/2011

We stayed in Pelican shores #1 in aug 2011, supposed to stay for a week but we have to cut it short because it is just not very comfortable place to stay in.The kids are feeling sick.The paints are peeling off the floors and the walls,the ref is so rusty, and the oven is not working.the carpet in the bedrooms are new but if you look up in the ceiling,it moves everytime the kids walk upstairs;you can hear all the creaks and sound inside the house;the only thing that salvaged our vacation is its proximity to the sea;other than that we were not happy with the condition of the house;it needs to be updated/furnitures changed and do buy new kitchen appliances.

This was not what I told the realtor I was looking for. This was our 1st trip to the outerbanks & I expressed my anxiety to the realtor. Clearly making the sale was more important than making a good 1st impression on a new customer. It is scary enough purchasing over the internet - but to be taken advantage of by a realtor is sad. The house was very old, dated & not very clean. The oven didn't work & only 2 burners on the stove worked. We planned to cook meals and did not budget for eating out 3 meals a day but had to anyway so there went any entertainment money we saved. The fridge was rusty, dirty & didn't work well. Bathroom floor was coming up in both bathrooms - it was like they rolled out linoleum but didn't stick it down & there was no trim so around the outer edge of the whole room was dirty and floor curling up & one roll of TP for a house that sleeps 10 for a week was rediculous! We were across the street from a bar where loud concerts & drunk people being thrown out was a nightly event. Maybe if I said single college person this would be appropriate but when I said family with kids coming to the outerbanks for the 1st time - this was not the place to suggest to us. Web photos are very misleading -
Air conditioner did not work upstairs - which is where the majority of the beds are - This was one of the worst experiences for our family. If we come back (and that is a big if) to the outerbanks I assure you this is not the realtor that we would go with - I hope the commission was worth knowing you ruined our week that we saved up for all year!Response from Seaside Vacations* - 08/21/2011
