House was overall very nice. If you have trouble with steps this is not for you. Early description of property indicated ocean views but that is not the case now. New condo's across street block view of ocean and direct ocean access (this means you will be walking a lot further to get to the beach). House had everything you need including hot tub and private pool. We would rent again. Friday check-in is a big plus when traffic is bad on weekends. Nice game room and plenty of things to do close by.

enjoyed my stay in the "Boss's Playhouse". Only complaints were: refrigerator in kitchen did not keep food very cold, ice maker did not work. also seemed to have people just stopping by unannounced for maintenance and delivery.
Huge house, great for fun and games!

We loved our stay at Boss' playhouse. The pool and hot tub were awesome! It's also very very close to the beach; however, beach access is not that close. We were lucky enough to have neighbors allow us to enter the beach through their property throughout the week so it worked out well for us! I would definitely stay in this house again. It's perfect for a large, rowdy group of friends and family!
Beautiful week at the beach .. until the hurricane came :)

We had a great stay at Boss's Playhouse. The home is beautiful, and big! There is enough floor space to have your whole neighborhood sleep over. The beds were all comfy, which is a nice change from some of the other rentals we have been in. It was very clean, which is always a plus.
If you're reading this, you probably want to know the flaws, so here you go (none of them are major, just small things). 1) The kitchen could use some new pots and pans (especially frying pans) and also a set of measuring cups and some baking sheets would have been nice. 2) The living room furniture is not very comfortable. 3) The lowest level seemed damp and musty. I couldn't find a thermostat for that level. I think it just needs some air circulating down there. If it hadn't been so hot out, we would have opened the windows to let it air out. 4) Beach access is not super convenient (mainly if you have young kids like I do). The public access is 1 1/2 - 2 blocks down the street, which isn't bad, unless you are dragging all the stuff you need for kids :) The public access has a parking lot, so we found it more convenient to throw the kids and stuff into the van and drive down. For adults and older children, it's no biggie. 5) again this is trivial, but there is no outlet (that I could find) in the pool area. We like to listen to the radio by the pool, which we couldn't do. Outside speakers would have worked too. 6) Some of the bed pillows should be replaced. Most were fine, but the ones on the pyramid bunk were kinda yucky. If we had had room we would have brought our own, but a mini-van can only hold so much!
Overall, Boss's Playhouse was a great place to stay for vacation. It was our first time in a Friday - Friday home and we really liked it. Much less traffic than normal. I would recommend this property.
Big house, nicely located, but don't look in the closets

Check-in was quick and easy, and we were able to get in the house as soon as we arrived (which happened to be at exactly 4pm). This was a much bigger house than we thought, which was a pleasant surprise. We could've fit way more people here than the recommended 10-11 max occupancy. The beach access wasn't quite as close as the description led us to believe, but it was still within easy walking distance. The pool was clean; hot tub seemed clean too, though only the teenagers in our family used it. The common areas and bedrooms were clean, the furniture was in good shape, and the carpet appeared to be relatively new. However, the bathrooms were dirty, especially the floors. Same was true of the kitchen floor. Perhaps the cleaning crew rushed through the job and forgot to clean these areas. The washer worked perfectly but the dryer wasn't getting hot and would just run and run for hours. I called the maintenance line and left several messages two days in a row before we got a reply. Once the maintenance person arrived, he was able to fix the problem in no time so we had a working dryer for the rest of our stay. The other issues we had were the closets: there were a couple small holes in the wall (mouse-sized) near the baseboard in the top floor master bedroom closet, and the closets in all the other bedrooms were pretty grungy as well. Again, seems to be a cleaning crew issue, though the realty company/homeowners should be aware of (and fix) the holes in the wall. None of these issues affected the amount of enjoyment we got out of our vacation. We were happy with this house and are considering reserving it for next year...provided the holes are fixed and cleaning crew does a better job.
Nice house, wonderful vacation!

Lots of room, nice gameroom, pool and hottub. Very nice house on quiet deadend street. We have vacationed in the OBX for six years now, probably the nicest house yet and the best price by far. One thing, need some new pots and pans. Thank you.

Everything was great after the first day. When we arrived at the house on Friday evening there were no linens which we had paid for. We tried to reach someone about this and left messages on several numbers to no avail. So..the first night we slept on our beach towels on top of the beds and then had to reuse same towels for showers etc. This was very frustrating. The next morning around noon someone arrived with our linen package and was very apologetic. We were told when we had called earlier in the am to someone in your office that the cost of the linen package would be adjusted. As of yet we have not heard how this would be handled.

The house had all the amenities and we were excited to close to the beach. When we arrived it was sort of a diappointment as the pool had not been cleaned and there was junky toys laying all around. The back side of the house has mold growing on it and the outside shower needs to be powerwashed. Water lines above shower need to be reattached to house. There is a periodic leak under the carport. The decks were nice and the crows nest was fabulous at night. Inside was neat and clean. Second floor bathrooms had small holes in tub and signs of leaks with mold around toilet and showers. The upstairs space and master were great. Liked best the close proximity to stores and beach access. Liked least the second floor bathrooms and uncleanliness of the pool area and shower. Checkin and out was a breeze.
Outstanding way to spend a week at the beach

This is our third year with Resort Realty. Their service has always been great. WE realy like the layout of this unit as we have had as many as four families. It allows everyone their owne space. We love the KDH location. The pool and hot tub add to the fun. If you plan on eating in the kitchen is well equipped as far as dishes, glasses and silverwear "but" pots and pans are limited and bad. The one thing I was very unhappy with was the pool and hot tub were not serviced until Wensday. I think this is unaceptable with a Friday check-in.
You cannot sum up in one sentence my experience, because we enjo

Great time "playing" at the Boss's Playhouse

We vacation with friends over Memorial Day every year - this year at the Boss's Playhouse. The house was plenty big enough for all to spread out and feel comfortable. Location was perfect as was the hot tub and pool (once it was serviced). Unfortunate that the ocean view was blocked by new condos just built also taking away a closer beach access. However, we had a wonderful time and have no real complaints. The only negative comments or feedback would be that the living room furniture could use updating (although I love the purple-keep the color) as the chairs and couches were worn. The tv's and remotes were an issue, couldn't seem to get the right ones working... Regardless, we would definitely come again, in fact, if rental falls thru for week of 8/15/09, let us know...we are looking to come back!
