The pop-up requests the reviewer be respectful, but with the advertisement photo being of the back of the house it was obvious there is already too much PR spin regarding this rental.
No offense to whoever is renting this place, but the house is in overall poor condition with:
small ineffective window air-conditioning units;
a dirty run down kitchen area;
a shower so disgusting I cleaned it;
a driveway that turns into a kiddie pool when it rains;
a massive "tree-bush" that makes the front of the house so ugly you photograph the back and yet somehow it fails to also cover open glass front door;
the top bunk bed (which is downstairs away from the other bedrooms) has no rails to keep kids from falling;
you're not far from the beach, but the road you walk down is busy (and drivers in NC don't yield to pedestrians in crosswalks);
the beach access takes you by a row of large trash cans used by hotels and a seafood restaurant so the smell is overpowering;
Since I made reservations late in the season, I guess I should be grateful it was available, but the table place mats hung as window curtains let me know I need to do better next year. -

We enjoyed our stay at Gander Inn. We were nervous that house had window a/c units, but turned out okay, and house was pretty basic, but again that was okay with us. There was some broken deck chairs and a table on upper deck that should be removed. One suggestion would be to make the back deck area bigger ... it would be easier to get around from shower area and not feel like your falling off a ledge. We had a great week! Thanks

A decent beach box that's within walking distance to the ocean. Close to shopping and restaurants. Close to a traffic light. If you want plush creature comforts, look elsewhere; having said that, the cottage certainly is adequate for a week at the beach. Decently furnished. I especially liked the yard, which had plenty of shade in the front and room to park in the back. All in all, a good value - I'd stay there again.

It's a nice beach house in better repair than some others nearby. Interestingly it has a ramp from the parking area but every threshold has an offset so folks with limited mobility will have difficulty.
