We stayed on the third floor "penthouse" level. If you notice the photo above, we walk up the front entrance and that back railing was also ours; facing the beach and ocean with another staircase to go down. 2 bed/2 bath. Master had a queen mattress. Kid's room had two twin beds. Each room had a TV and there was a TV in family room. Open concept family room/dining/kitchen. Seemed like a new refurb. Great condition and new appliances. The washer/dryer was in the kid's bathroom and very quiet. Bedding not provided; we forgot ours so bought new items that we could use again at home. You can rent bedding through the realty company. Loved seeing the sunrise out our dining area. Sliding door out master and dining area to the deck.
Southern Shores Realty was very well organized and check-in was smooth (if not a bit crowded since we all arrived before closing time at 6pm). The welcome package included 4 free tickets to a college baseball game located a mile or so away from us. It was something different to do and a welcome treat.
Think of the stairs as extra exercise that gets you the best view (and no one walking above your heads.) The second level would be okay for a view, too, but on the first level you would be lucky to see the ocean over the berm. There is a small pool in parking lot.
It's located right next to a public beach access parking area and that means lots of people right out front at the beach, but we didn't mind and there really was room to move around. The property is fenced. They always had lifeguards on day duty and red flags during high waves. The sand gets burning hot, but the beach is relatively well kept.
We did para sailing, surfing lessons, hang gliding lessons, and a tandem hang gliding event through Kitty Hawk Kites. Well run organization that pairs up with local providers. One stop shop for all adventures. Check their FB page deals.
Great vibe all up and down the beach road. Highly recommend the place we stayed.
We loved, loved, loved this place. We walked in the front door and were amazed at the condo and the views. We booked it for next year about 3 days into our stay. The only complaints would be that the bedrooms need room darkening curtains and the downstairs neighbors were quite nosy. The condo had everything you could possibly want or need provided for you, Sitting out on that ocean front deck was the best. We still think about that condo every day.

Third year in the same condo - love it! Great service from Tabitha and the staff at Southern Shores - very helpful and felt like family. Our accommodations were, in a word, wonderful. Thanks for another great stay.

Wonderful location. Sunset on the Wright Memorial was beautiful. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath condo served the purpose, but loading everything up 57 stairs was tough. The shower in the second bathroom was teeny-tiny. Never did get anyone in to fix the main light in the master bathroom. Nice views from the deck, and very nice having a Wii already there. Pool was very small.

Great location & view even though it was a back-side unit (suggest putting tall chairs on the deck to be able to see over the rail while sitting). Well appointed with great kitchen. Wii game station, Vizio TV & home entertainment ctr. were great for the entire family.

The building itself was really nice; however, we had an issue with our particular unit. There were pigeons roosting on our deck and there was bird poop EVERYWHERE. The rental agency came out and "boarded up" the opening where the birds were coming and going - this led to the horrible scratching of the bird trying to escape. Once the bird was set free, both the bird and its mate kept coming back to the scene of the crime. Needless to say, we were unable to enjoy our deck the entire time. The rental agency blamed the property management and the property management blamed the rental agency. We asked for a discount from the rental agency and/or the owner and were denied by both parties. The correspondence between ourselves and the rental agency were less than dignified and were outright shameful. We will not be renting from this agency ever again.
We love this property. The front has a view of the Wright Memorial
and the back and side is all ocean. The new spacious decks are
great to enjoy these views and even though it is a condo there are
windows on three sides. There is a path out to the ocean with
showers to rinse off before you go into the pool or back to the
condo. The pool is small but never seems crowed (would like a
liitle pool shade in the afternoons). We have stayed for three
summers and plan to return this year. There is always a nice
blend of people staying (mostly with kids) so my daughter always
makes friends. We have not had any problem with noise or
hearing other people but it does not seem like a party place--you
are also off the road a bit. The washer and dryer is great
especially for a family. The house does not come with linens so it
is worthwhile to rent them and we bring beach towels. I have not
felt that the cleaning was great upon check in but in the past they
have left supplies to get you until you grocery shop (toilet paper,
paper towels, garbage bag, dish det, sponge, and dish towels).
When bringing up your luggage and grocery shopping, beware that
it is a four story walk (it has not been a problem for us but I can
see if you have a lot to carry every day or small kids it could be
difficult). Overall it is a great property, with great views.
