This four bedroomed cottage has been converted to provide spacious comfortable accomodation to sleep eight people, the wood burning stove in the lounge adds to the homely feel.
Croft Barn is a Victorian stone built barn, which has been converted to provide a spacious cottage home of great character and comfort. It is beautifully situated in a traditional Cumbrian village above the peaceful Lyvennet Valley. There is a welcoming pub in the village a short walk away. The cottage provides views over fields to the west of Lakeland and to the east of the Pennines. There is wonderful walking country on the doorstep through rolling farmland pas...tures, woodland by sparkling rivers, and open limestone fells.
Both Penrith and Appleby are short drives away and Kings Meaburn is well located to explore the Lakes, the Eden Valley, the Northern Pennines and the Western Dales.

This cottage is perfect for a countryside break. The cold rainy nights don't matter when you have the open fire (plenty of logs supplied to keep you warm) This cottage is ideal for a group of friends or for a family of varying ages. It is within walking distance of the local pub - they offer a friendly welcome, and make you feel like a local. The food at the pub is excellent and very reasonable prices. We will definitely booking this cottage again!!! Read more

A very relaxing stay

Our two families decided to hire the cottage to celebrate both our sons 16th birthdays. We had a very relaxing and fun long weekend. The boys really enjoyed lighting the wood burner ( even though it is the middle of summer)
There was an abundance of wildlife to watch, including a pair of house martens building their nest just outside the living room window.
The local pub was very welcoming and the food was lovely. They even filled a bowl with water for our dog.
The local people were also welcoming.
I would definitely return for a second visit.
Homely cottage in a a lovely location.

Croft barn is a lovely cottage, with beautiful views from the living room window. The children loved watching the red squirrel and the woodpecker from the window! It is situated in a small village, with lovely walks in the area. Morland is a pleasant neighbouring village with the mill yard cafe, which is worth a visit. Good location for Ullswater and Windermere. Aira force falls (Ullswater) is also worth a visit. The puzzle place in Keswick is a great experience for the kids. Appleby has a great Green Grocers and close to Penrith for shops etc.
The cottage has a lovely homely feel. We mainly used the upstairs area which had a great wood burning fire. There were 6 adults and 2 children in our party and we often found there was not enough hot water when showering - required boosting after each person. Kids loved the bedroom above the barn and was a great house for playing hide and seek!
The pub located in the village (whitehorse) serves lovely food and had a friendly atmosphere. Really Enjoyed our stay at croft barn and wouldn't hesitate to come back or recommend. Car essential!
