Description from the owner
Pond Cottage is one of our favourite cottages in our complex. It can sleep up to 6 in 3 bedrooms.
The property benefits from panoramic picture windows with fantastic views over the countryside and a lovely little garden and patio/BBQ area that is reached by double doors from the front room.
Collacott holiday cottages in North Devon are located in the surrounds of a beautiful green valley. All the cottages themselves have many great features including oak beams, stone floors, wood burning stoves, quaint gardens and great views. The cottages are also fitted with modern conveniences such as dishwashers and a microwave.

Dagenham, EssexGood riding, comfortable living
Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in March 2013
A very imaginative use of farmyard buildings which have been converted into holiday cottages which are cosy and very well equipped. Richard and Karen Harrison have the magic blend of being efficient and business-like, without losing any of their warmth and personal touch. The well-kept stables and yard revealed high standards in every department of this enterprise. We enjoyed 2 X 2 hour hacks during our 3 days, and wondered how much extra variety (in riding routes) we’d have known if we’d stayed longer. Dog-walking is wonderful too in beautiful Devon. The village pub (The Grove) is excellent for food and friendliness (approx £25+ per head all in).

We stayed at Collacott for 2 weeks and had a fantastic time! Excellent facilities and well equipped for families with young children (I.e. stair gate, high chair, cot, outdoor play area...). Never slept better, fantastic bedding and really peaceful environment! Excellent hosts, Karen and Richard helped with every little need! Our children really loved having the stables on site!
Would def stay again! -

Chester, United KingdomLovely accommodation In Beautiful Countryside
Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Our cottage was lovely, clean, spacious, and a good size garden for our dog. My 12 year old especially enjoyed the tennis and table tennis, and the pool was a welcome relief from the heatwave we experienced! A pleasant walk along country lanes took us to a lovely pub with a small beer garden, where we ate our lunch.
There are stables on site where they hold riding lessons, or you can take a hack along the local lanes, which my 15 year old daughter tried.
I would definitely return to Collacott Holiday Cottages. -

Despite the English weather we had a fantastic time at Collacott. The owners and staff were all extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage was all that we could have expected and more with amazing views out over the Devon countryside.
The hard thing to get used to was how quiet it was with not traffic noise ap;art from the odd tractor in a distant field. The cottage was extremely well equipped if you want to make a meal but the local pubs etc were excellent.
Our little girl loved the horse and she took part in 2 loan a pony days which she thouroughly enjoyed. All of us had a riding session and for me a first timer I must admit it was brilliant and I could easily get the bug.
Lots of lovely places to visit and see within a 45 minute or so drive including Ilfracombe, Lynton,Lynmouth, Bideford to name a few.
Well worth the money - very reasonable and I would strongly recommend even if only once you try out the horseriding - the horses are so friendly but if not just enjoy a truly relaxing place in the magnificent Devon countryside.
One tip - follow the directions given by the owners - they are excellent and you can't really go wrong - switch off the Sat Nav - I hate to think where you might end up! -

LondonExcellent Holiday ...
Left on 02/19/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We (4 adults + 2 children) stayed at the Kings Cottage during the Feb school holidays and had a great time. The cottages are located in the remote countryside of North Devon with stunning views of the countryside. The cottage itself was cosy and comfortable with all amenities you would expect in a self-catering cottage. Everything is included except for the heating which works on a pre-paid coin operated meter. There is a small garden which looks out into the fields where you can see horses and sheeps grazing. The cottage has a riding school as well, but we missed out as we chose the wrong day - Friday which is the day off for the horses.
The owners Karen and Richard were very helpful and were always available for suggestions and any question we had. My only suggestion would be to have a instruction booklet or give a small briefing on how to use the main heater in the living room as we couldnt make it work on the first day (It has a wireless device which controls it) and we had to spend the evening with our winter clothes on !!!. and Richard kindly helped sort it the next day...
The location of the cottages is quite central for travelling across north devon and is close to town and there is a Sainsbury's (3-4 miles) which helps with groceries and other shopping.
In all, if you are looking for a countryside holiday in North Devon, then this fits the bill perfectly. ..I'm sure we'll be back ... -

Richard & Karen always make you feel very welcome and nothing is a trouble to them. Skippton Cottage has breathtaking views and a delight to wake up to in the morning, it is warm cosy and is well equipped with everything that you might need. Collacott is very central for everything. I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and anyone else who wants a little bit of heaven in the breathtaking countryside, and where there are many pubs/restraunts that serve great food and a warm welcome. The only downside of it all is that you have to leave,

GloucestershireGreat place to stay, truly relaxing
Left on 03/05/2010 for a stay in October 2009
We have stayed at Collacott on 5 occasions, and we're going there later this year for a week. I cannot recommend it highly enough - the owners are lovely, the locality is beautiful and the horses are very well trained and a pleasure to ride. The instructors are, by a mile, the best we have ever encountered.
Collacott is one of the few places we have been where we feel we can let down our guard and give our daughter (9) a bit more freedom to explore. There is a play area, tennis court, trampoline and games room so children have lots to do all within the grounds.
The cottages are comfortable and cosy, truly a relaxing stay!!

SUPERB !!! Having stayed at cottages thoughout Devon for many years, this one was by far the family favourite! What a lovely place to stay, excellently equipped cottage with all facilities required. Owners made us feel so welcome it like we had been there before, including resident dog CJ of course!. Children loved the horses and the riding lessons available were excellent and extremely professional. Childrens play area was clean and safe, and the heated swimming pool was gorgeous!. There was such a homely feeling about this cottage that we really didnt want to leave! Gorgeous area to explore, lovely walks and dogs welcome a bonus. The location allowed a peaceful stay and privacy whilst being a short drive from beaches and local attractions. There is nothing I would recommend changing about our holiday experience at Collacott. Its a FIRST CLASS holiday and we will definatley be recommending to friends and visiting again ourselves for many years to come!!!

Collacott fan
GuildfordWe had lots of fun with the ponies
Left on 03/05/2010 for a stay in September 2009
We really love Collacott and try to come regularly. We have two daughters who participate in the "loan a pony" schemme for five days each holiday. This allows them to have the "country childhood" I never had. They are able to help with the ponies and have lessons twice a day. The instructors are excellent and work hard to accomodate the different levels of riders. We also enjoy wandering around South Moulton which is a very unspoilt town and try to eat a couple of times in the excellent pub in Kings Nympton. We will also have a day out either cycling, visiting a national trust house or visiting the coast. We find it a lovely peaceful part of the world where you can still see deer, hares and all sorts of country activities.

As a family we have been coming for 3 years. The cottages have everything. In winter we love the wood burning stove as it provides a great atmosphere. In summer a BBQ in the garden is great. On site there is horse riding, swiming, tenis, etc all of which we have tried at some time. All his in a lovely rural locations. Near by are great places to visit, you can visit Lundy island from Ilfracombe which is a great day out. The worst thing is having to leave it all behind when we return

Beautiful quiet setting, very comfortable well equiped cottages and moreover outstanding resident hosts. Welcome advice readily available for trips and excursions, including local knowledge of routes, recommended excellent local pubs and restaurants. We took our two horses and stabled them there - everything was thoughtfully prepared for us. The warm pool and great tennis court were the icing on the cake.
Thoroughly recommended. You can't help youself just chilling out! We'll return. -

Fabulous holiday! Plenty to do nearby. Cottages quaint and homely, rural setting,
fantastic views, country air, peace and quiet. Particularly enjoyed the woodburner on
a cold night.
Friendly, family run establishment. Cannot fault - on hand 24/7 for queries or
assistance.

Left on 02/26/2010 for a stay in October 2009
We stayed in Bendall cottage(if my memory serves me correctly) as it allowed us to take our two small dogs. The cottage was spacious and comfortable but a little "tired" after the summer season. The area was peaceful and the owners very welcoming. The stables were excellent and my daughter and I used the riding facilities a few times. However there were problems with the water supply in the mornings as we backed on to the stable yard which meant that the showers did not run properly. Also at times we were unable to get any cold water from the taps at all.The stables were back to back with the cottage which meant that at times you were disturbed by the banging and foot scraping of the horses particularly in the evening. The garden had been advertised as fully enclosed which was important for our dogs but it didnt in fact have a gate attached which meant the dogs were unable to be let off at all.
We did leave a letter for the owner with this feedback so would hope that in the last few months something has been done to rectify the problems.

We had a lovely stay here. We bought our dogs along too. The cottages were large and nicely furnished and cared for .There is a riding stables on site where my son had several lessons and learnt to ride (he has since continued at home). I was well looked after and went out on a hack around the lovely countryside. The weather was not too great so we didnt get to try out the swimming pool ,we did get to play a few games of tennis and the boys enjoyed the games room. We walked our dogs for miles and all in all had a very relaxing stay.

We had an enjoyable experience although the weather was very unkind! We found the hosts very helpful and friendly and went out of their way to help. The accommodation was adequate although quite small for 4 people and 2 dogs!
The swimming pool was lovely and well looked after and the opportunity to go horse riding was great.
The only thing that would put me off returning was the location as you had to drive a long way to get to the coast or a town. -

We stayed at the Barn Cottage for my 30th birthday with a group of friends last year.
Not only has the Barn a fantastic community area with a really well equipped kitchen but the owners also went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible.
I would definitely go back! -
