The estate, built in the 1830s, was an exclusive residential development, at each of the four entrances the cottages were occupied by the gatekeeper whose job it was to open the gates.
A 10 minute walk brings you to the foot of Arthur’s Seat and restaurants and shops are on the doorstep.
