We stayed at Malara Cottage for three nights while in London for the Olympics as our daughter's house in Kingston was full up with other visitors! Stephanie made us very welcome and we had a very comfortable time in her lovely house (which we had passed many times in the past while out walking, without realising it). The bedroom was extremely comfortable and breakfasts were lovely. We were very pleased to be invited to a charity barbecue with great music there two weeks later, and were only sorry we were unable to stay longer!

We were greeted warmly, offered a drink as soon as we arrived. The home is beautiful, clean and comfortable. The location couldn't be better, right on the beautiful riverside, lovely cottage garden and a smashing breakfast in the lovely sun lounge overlooking the Thames. We liked everything and have no negative comments to make.

Monika and I stayed 1 week - great weather. Good room, good fresh breakfast, within easy walking distance of Kingston and the buses to Richmond for the London Underground.
On-street parking was no problem.
Most of all, Stephanie was freindly, helpful and knowledgable about the area. We would definitely stay againResponse from Stephanie Lippiatt - 05/27/2012

We had a great few days staying with Stephanie, she is very welcoming and breakfast looking out over the Thames was very special. Our dog Holly was made very welcome by Stephanie and her dog Marley. It is very easy to walk into Kingston and further afield Teddington and Richmond are within easy reach along the Thames path.

Stephanie made us feel welcome and was very accommodating. Our room was spacious and nicely appointed and we very much enjoyed our breakfasts in the solarium overlooking the Thames. Public transportation was conveniently located close by and we travelled into downtown London quickly several times during the week we stayed with Stephanie with no difficulty whatsoever.

Stephanie did everything possible to make us feel at home from making us a cup of tea on arrival to allowing us to use the kitchen as our own.It was an absolute dream to eat our sumptuous breakfast in the conservatory, overlooking the river and all the activity. We were given our own key, had a lovely walk along the river and were able to get the local bus and then train into the heart of London very easily when required.

The sitting room was unavailable when we arrived at appointed time as grandchild was asleep on the sofa and toys strewn over the floor. Had to ask for glasses to take own purchased water for bedside. Breakfast in sun lounge (has sort of corrugated plastic roof with usual moss) comprised half a grapefruit, choice of cereals and one boiled egg. My wife does not eat boiled eggs and asked for scrambled egg(s). Told last egg had been used for grandchild! No alternative offered. River view is as shown from end of garden. Normal view from sun room is one of unattractive buildings on other side of the river. Towels very thin and parking only on road.

Owner
So sorry I cannot please everyone, and I have to say I found these guest very rude and intrusive, they walked round all of my house picking up items and passing coments on my pictures etc
I do not offer the use of my own private sitting room to guests, it is for the use of my family and myself although these guest did just take themselves into my sitting room and really acted as if they owned the whole house, they were out to impress and boasted all the time about their financial circumstaces, what clever people they were, the property they owned and how succsesful their lives had been due to their astuteness.
Breakfast is always fresh fruit either grapefruit, melon, pineapple etc
Choice of fresh juice, not concentrate in a carton, large choice of cereals, cooked of some description with toast, fresh bakery specialist bread, not white sliced or similar, butter, choice of 2 or 3 marmalades, large jug of fresh milk, pot of tea or carafe of fresh coffee...
Water in bedroom is always available if requested, I have an enormous american fridge that dispenses crushed ice, ice cubes and iced water, as well as bottled water that I have available as well.
If they purchased their own water that is their choice, other guests seem quite happy to ask for glasses from the kitchen as well as being welcome to tea and coffee.
The 'unattractive buildings' refered to are lovely victorian weekend homes, now lived in full time, situated on the island in the middle of the river, the only buildings that can be seen other than that are a couple of traditional rowing clubs.
I did wonder why they had come to stay with me as I felt they believed they should be in Buckingham Palace really, all in all the only guest I have ever had that were difficult, my other guests have all been a delight to look after... -

We received a warm and friendly welcome from Stephanie. This continued right through our stay. Her attention to detail was excellent and her friendly approach made us feel right at home. The breakfasts were good with a different choice each day. I would certainly recommend this b&b; to everyone. The added bonus is that you are right on the River Thames and very close to all amenities.

This was the first time I stayed in a B&B;, and this one set the standard very high. The house is very pleasant, in winter or in summer. The room is big and clean with a private bathroom. The lady is very friendly; and was up very early on the mornings to make the breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and very copious. An excellent adress!

A pleasant weekend through from a very warm welcome from Stephanie (and Marley) with a cup of tea to a lovely breakfast looking over the Thames on Sunday morning. We were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. Very comfortable, clean room and spacious bathroom with use of kitchen for making drinks whenever we felt like it. Location is very picturesque and so convenient for both Kingston and Richmond - access straight onto the towpath. Hampton Court, Richmond Park and Kew are all within easy distance. Would definitely stay here again!

There was a very warm reception and we were made to feel at home straight away. Very nice location by the river in a very pleasant area of London. The room we stayed in was spaciuos, attractive and clean. Breakfast was served in conservatory overlooking the garden and the river which was lovely. My partner was only disappointed with not being offered a full english breakfast but there was plenty of toast and cereals, coffee and tea ect. which was fine for me.

Left on 11/17/2010 for a stay in October 2010
A small pocket of paradise in the city. A lovely quiet location on the river with plenty of bird life to watch as you have your breakfast in the sun room. Beautifully kept gardens and a couple of resident squirrels to amuse. The owner Stephenie is wonderfull, will help with anything you need. The accommodation is kept very clean with plenty of linen and towels if required. The room is very roomy and the bathroom a good size. There are lots of things to see and do in the area, Richmond Park (deers) and Hampton Court not far away. Getting into London was easy, with a bus trip to Richmond station and Tube from there.
All in all, a great place to stay and experience good English hospitality. (Plenty of cups of tea). -
