Last minute stay in Kinsale on recommendation from friends who had stayed there on a previous vacation. We also stayed two nights in Tipperary at abbeyvale house B&B; also owned by Mary and Ed. We enjoyed our holiday in Ireland spending Christmas at a Cork hotel. Kinsale town is excellent for sailing, walking and food- the fish and chips are amazing! I would recommend a holiday in Kinsale. Also to add, Tipperary is mid way between Dublin and the South West, making this an ideal rest and recuperation area between airports and ferry ports.

We couldn't have picked a better location. Right on the water with lovely views, just a few minutes of pleasant walk into beautiful, historical, very interesting Kinsale, and a great base for wonderful day trips. The off-road parking was greatly appreciated. By the way, the fish in Kinsale is second to none - an absolute joy (especially at Fishy Fishy).
Unfortunately, we didn't get to meet Mary but dealing with her on the phone and through e-mail was a pleasure as she was so helpful and accommodating.

A lovely cottage in a perfect location with everything a family needs, clean & tidy, 3 bedrooms, 2 showerooms, good kitchen with appliances, adjacent private parking and the perfect location to visit the wonderful pubs and restaurants which are just a 10 minutes walk into the town, must recommend Jim Edwards. It is also a fantastic touring base with a good road network for touring the southwest of Ireland and if you've got the time the ring of Kerry as well.
Many Thanks to Mary & Ed for accomodating us and thanks for the kind words when needed, it meant a lot.Response from Mary Hunt - 10/14/2012

Glad you both could continue with your plans and enjoy Ireland for your holiday after getting the bad news, kinds words do help everybody.

We rented Lobster Cottage for a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage was clean and comfortable and accomodated our pary of 6 perfectly. We loved being able to walk to town, but the location was also a great base for taking day trips throughout the countryside to see the sights. Mary was terrific and made the rental process and everything about our stay easy. She was also very helpful and kind enough to answer our many questions. Mary was a delight and Lobster Cottage was wonderful. I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We had 6 adults and there was plenty of room. The location is great. Mary and Ed were great hosts, we stayed on the yellow door side. Highly recommend it. Very convenient to downtown Kinsale and a great location to use as your base.

This was a great cottage, lovley and clean and homely ideal for a break, the owner Mary is a lovley lady she just makes sure that everything is to your liking, this cottage has its own parking space, which is ideal as the town gets very busy, the cottage is just a stones throw from town so the walk into town takes about 5 mins, the area has some of the best restaurants Fishy Fishy & Hoby's to name just two in the area, I fell in love with the Kinsale and will definately be back soon, really quite spoilt for choice. A real gem .

We stayed in Kinsale at the end of March and the cottage was just what we wanted,it had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable.A short walk into town and lots of places to eat and drink. The area is lovely and lots of friendly people,we had a day out to kiss the blarney stone and it just so happened to be a sunny one which was great for the end of March. The view from the front bedroom over the water is wonderful, even better if the sun is out,We were staying a long weekend only and did not have a lot of time for sightseeing,Im sure it must be beautiful in the summer. The owner Mary had been phoning me to see if things were all right unfortunatly my mobile didn't work, she came down the day we were leaving and very kindly gave us a lift to the airport which was very much appreciated as I had my 83year old mother with me,who by the way had a great time.

I booked this property for the stopover of the Clipper round the world race as my husband was a crew member. The owner was very helpful and we were able to add extra days at short notice. Lobster cottage is much bigger than it looks and 5 of us were very comfortable. Everything was fresh and new and we I can't think of anything extra that would have been needed. Kinsale is a brilliant town and an easy short walk along the harbour front. The pubs and restaurants are numerous and we had many good meals and nights out. Something for everyone. It was great being able to park the car at the cottage and do everything on foot. We explored the countryside, going down to Mizen head (on the one rainy day!) and checked out the local beaches. My son played golf and said it was one of the best courses he'd seen. Cork is only a short drive away if you like the city.
I'd love to go back. -

I booked Lobster Cottage when my husband and daughter took part in the sailing competition there was 6 in the family and we all travelled from belfast.. Kinsale is a hive of activity and we received a very warm welcome at the club house. The only disadvantage the weather was not so good.
I spent my day walking and cycling the area and having the occasional chat and glass of wine.
The house is well equipped, comfortable, and the patio was in full bloom with nice flowers, where on a few mornings we could sit and have coffee, while watching the boats go by. No point been in Kinsale without the views, it is truly a magical place, no wonder it is linked to antibees in France.

The location was a prime fact, the water was across the street, the town had many restaurants and shops all in walking distance of the cottage. By car you were close to many historical sights with a day trip. The cottage was charming with lots of room and all the conveniences you could want. We had a great vacation and would definitely rent again.

From Mary and Ed Thanks for all the pictures you sent to me of your trip to Ireland on the CD. Look forward to your next trip to Cork and of course Tipperary to home of your late mother Kate Hayes.

What a wonderful place to stay! Lobster Cottage is beautifully decorated and still comfortable. There were five of us, my husband and I, our 21 year old son and my parents, and did not feel at all cramped. We felt right at home. The proprietors are very accommodating and knowledgeable. We were in Ireland visiting family and spent several days here. The location was perfect, right across the street from the river. There is even a boat ride that you can take that offers lots of historical information. It is an easy walk into one of the most charming towns I have ever visited. We would travel about the country during the day and then get home, have a relaxing glass of wine and walk into town for a wonderful dinner. The town has much to offer with great food and welcoming pubs. We plan to return and spend the summer in this very home.
