Description from the owner
Hazelmount Cottage is a 3 bedroom cottage (sleeps 7) situated within its own private secure garden (ideal for children (dogs) ) and overlooks the Urr Estuary and Solway Yacht Club. She sits in the old sailing village of Kippford amidst the beautiful Galloway countryside.
The Victorians termed the Colvend Coastline to Kippford 'the Scottish Riviera' due to its natural beauty and the mild Gulf Stream drift enjoyed by its location on the Solway coast in Southern Scotland, situated 3 miles south of Dalbeattie on the shore of the Urr Estuary. The Cottage has the ideal location as well as having a secluded privacy.

Bury St. Edmunds, United KingdomValue for money but could be better with some impovements
Left on 07/30/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed at the cottage in July after reading some very good reviews. There are some nice things about the cottage but overall the experience could have been better. The cottage is in a good position but unfortunately from 11am to 11pm you can hear the large extract fan from the adjacent hotel very loudly in all the outside areas which makes sitting outside not exactly peaceful. The lounge is small and the smell of soot from the chimney was strong. The kitchen dinner is very small and it is difficult to serve food when the table is pulled out which you have to do for any more than 2 people to sit at it. The bathroom is nicely done however the hot water tank is not big enough and you have to wait for it to reheat after two people have used it. The cottage was very clean upon our arrival. The garden is ideal for dogs or small children as it is totally enclosed. The internal decoration and fittings were OK but could do with being updated a little. The owner wanted an extra £50 for towels which I managed to hire from the nearby holiday park for £12!

prestonBeautiful cottage in a beautiful location
Left on 02/28/2011 for a stay in February 2011
We stayed at the cottage with family and friends for 3 nights at the end of February. What a treasure this cottage is!! Just set back from the main road that runs through the village from its elevated position there are fantastic views over the estuary and surrounding countryside. The cottage is well maintained with everything that you may require provided for. The open fire was ready to be lit with a plentiful supply of coal and wood which kept us nice and warm during the colder nights. The rest of the house is adequately heated with electric heaters and the garden area is lovely and the children enjoyed playing in it. The owners have gone to a great deal of trouble ensuring that guests have everything that is required. There is a good range of books/dvds/videos for those days that may not be suitable for venturing out. However, we were very lucky with the weather and made the most of our short stay by visiting as much of the local area as we could. There is a lovely walk from the village to the nearby beach at Rockcliffe and we ate out one evening in the local pub, The anchor, which was an enjoyable meal. I would definitely recommend a stay here and would love to go back again maybe over the summer months to take full advantage of the lovely garden and bbq. We were all very pleased with the property and were so glad that we found it as it really helped us have a memorable holiday.

We recently had a lovely family holiday in the beautiful village of Kippford. I had the great pleasure in staying at Hazelmount Cottage. The house is situated in the perfect location overlooking the yacht club moorings and the river Urr. The cottage was very charming and exactly like the photographs. I will be returning next year so I can heartily recommend it to others.

Lytham St Annes.A really great place to stay
Left on 09/10/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We were a family with ages from 3 to 64, gathering together at Hazelmount cottage to celebrate a birthday. We were over the moon with all the amenities in the accommodation. Every room was spotlessly clean, there was ample crockery and cutlery in the kitcken, the shower room was spacious and the log fire in the evening was wonderful. We had 7 days of amazing weather so alfesco meals were taken in the outstanding natural garden, with the most superb views. We will return.

Had some time this summer to take my wife to Dumfries & Galloway for a few days. Our stay there was fantastic. Hazlemount Cottage is beautiful and set in the most stunning location of Kippford. This area is perfect and in our opinion a hidden gem. The cottage was magnificent, with extremely well decorated, comfortable rooms throughout. The bonus of only having to walk 5 minutes to the local restaurant/bar was a nice surprise. I would highly recommend Hazlemount Cottage and will most definitely be heading back again.
