      Family weekend getaway

Left on 05/06/2013 for a stay in April 2013

For this year's early Easter holidays, we decided to go to Lake District and spend the extended weekend there. Our choice of Bank Cottage proved to be an excellent one as it provided the convenience of the entire family staying together in a homely atmosphere while being not far from the key attractions around the area. The apartment was well furnished and provided good space for large families. The kids were highly entertained with the abundant choice of Dvds to choose from, they were busy with that during the evenings.

The location provided good privacy and stunning view of the surrounding. Since the snow was yet to melt, the view from the cottage was even better.

However due to the location of the place, you will need your own transport arrangements to move around. Since there is good parking space availability, this should not be an issue.

We look forward to stay there for an even longer period in the future.

A good base for those with kids or pets

Left on 01/09/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Well equipped and well maintained cottage situated in a quiet and picturesque part of Cumbria. We booked this property for a short family break over New Year, it certainly met our expectations being child and pet friendly due to the enclosed garden and well located for exploring the Lakes.

      Worth a return visit

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012

A tidy, well equipped cottage, well located for for visiting the Lakes, we really couldn't fault the facilities. The enclosed garden is is great for young children and pets. The a595 is really close but not a noticeable nuisance. We would definately look to hire this cottage on a return visit.

Lovely cottage - does what it says on the tin!

Left on 10/08/2011 for a stay in September 2011

I and my partner either with or without teenage sons have stopped at both this cottage and the lodge next door for the last three years on short breaks, and I can safely say that the cottage matches the description in all but one way. The Visit Britain rating for the cottage is 3 star - by all accounts the 4 star rating comes from the cottage company. It is comfortable, clean and the owners are more than accommodating and helpful. It is handly placed for all the major Lakes attractions and the lesser known ones too. There is no wifi advertised so I am not sure what the other reviewer means and yes the mobile signal is dodgy but anyone who visits the Lakes/Highlands/Coast and stops in a barn with thick walls would know that is usually the case - a quick saunter to the top of the drive or bottom of the garden and hey presto - signal!!! The TV is small but so what? - maybe we go on holiday to get away from that and spend it out in the fresh air, returning to a comfy, clean and warm cottage for the evening. Even the creaking floorboards add to the fun!!! The guest book is full of positive comments, returning visitors and I for one will be going back. As I said - it does what it says on the tin!

not worthy of 4 stars - needs updating

Left on 10/03/2011 for a stay in June 2011

initially, the property is beautiful on the outside with fantastic views on a clear day and if the windows had been cleaned! However, the inside is very dim and gloomy, not much light in any of the rooms. There is also a damp smell in most of the rooms. The carpets and furnishings are in need of modernising. Bedding and pillows were flat and unpleasant, mattress was uncomfortable and bedding like something from 1980's. Sofa was something out of a charity shop, as were curtains which here hung on by a small number of hooks on any one curtail rail. Tv very small screen for size of room and limited free-view channels and no wi-fi or mobile phone signal. In general, extremely disappointed. Definitely not worthy of 4 star rating, which apparently is only granted due to to it having a washing machine!! On a plus side, the enclosed garden is ideal for pets and children , and the owner did give us a full refund when we complained and left after the first night.

Response from Cottage Holiday Group - 10/12/2011

      Cottage Holiday Group

      Manager

Thank you for your recent review.

Bank End Cottage is a very popular property for families, walkers and couples alike.

Do to the location of some of our properties, Wi-Fi and mobile phone signals are not something we can control. Mobile service companies do provide, on their website, location maps showing signal strengths in all areas of the country. We would advise any guest, if asked, to check with your service provider before you book or travel, if you are going to require the use of a mobile phone or internet access. Please be assured that any properties that have Wi-Fi and internet access have this information provided on our web site. This property is not advertised as providing Wi-Fi.

This property provides a home from home feel with all the necessary comfort for a short break or holiday. Unfortunately we cannot cater for all tastes within one property and it is unfortunate that during this stay it did not meet with the guests requirements. Due to circumstances beyond our control, the initial booking was made at very short notice.

Once the guest contacted the owner a full refund was issued. Unfortunately the guest chose to leave the property the next morning.

We do advise all guests at the time of booking, to contact our office immediately regarding any problems. This way we can ensure that any issues raised are rectified as soon as possible, leaving your holiday free for you to enjoy. We would also recommend that guests who wish to leave a review or provide feedback for a property, do so as soon as possible after their stay.

This is a lovely property and we want to make sure that your short stay or holiday is uninhibited. If you have any questions please contact us and we will be happy to address your questions.
