My family had a wonderful stay at Starhanger's Lie. The house is quite comfortable and the open floor plan of the kitchen, dinning, and living areas made it easy to spend time together. The decor is colorful and it helped create a pleasant and lively atmosphere. Some of the key benefits we enjoyed included: dogs allowed; short walk to the beach; short drive to stores, dinning, and other activities.
One of the biggest suprises was that the nearby beach was relatively quiet. Conversely, a five minute walk in either direction lead to areas of the beach that were much more crowded.
We received great service from the staff at Seaside Vacations. They helped us find and book the right house for my family, responded to our minor maintanence calls, and made check-in and check-out quick and easy.

The cottage was perfect for my family's needs. We had 2 teenagers, 2 adults, 1 grandma and 1 dog and we loved it. The kitchen had everything we needed and the floor plan was spacious. We didn't use the backyard for the dog based on other reviews about the sand spurs, but that wasn't a problem for us at all. The downstairs den was perfect for our teenagers and they claimed that as their space from the first day--which was great for the adults! I will rent this cottage again. The check-in was the easiest I've ever experienced and I have been renting in OBX for years. Location was great, quiet street and a short walk to the beach. The house has internet, but no Wifi-- The only reommendation I would make is to add Wifi. Overall -- Loved it! Book it!

This home is beautiful and had enough room to accommodate the 8 of us. We felt we had plenty of space and did not feel we were on top of each other. The beach is a short walk which was perfect and there is a gas station, restaurant bar, and Buffett within walking distance as well. The only negative was there was no access to the large backyard from the house and the backyard was no usable as it was covered in the burr's and prickers... I am glad we did not bring our dog as she would have not been able to walk two feet without being stuck or pricked. Other than that the Hott tub was clean and very relaxing the seating on the deck was excellent a well as the seating at the kitchen table. The furniture in the downstairs room was not very comfortable but we did not spend anytime there... The grill was a charcoal grill and was large enough for what it is. There was dog hair everywhere so I do imagine that being a negative for someone who is allergic however we have dogs at home so it wasnt too bad of an annoyance. The refrigerator didn't seem to be working for the first 2 days but it kicked on after that. Overall we all were satisfied and had a great time

beach is right across the road and easy to get to. home is beautiful and big enough for a huge famliy. shopping and eating out is a little of a drive but other wise the beach is great. took the management six days to fix hot tub and we where only there for seven which was a bummer.

This is a fantastic rental home! A short walk to the beach and you can see and hear the water from the front deck. Our German Shephard loved it too and the fenced in yard was a great asset to let him off the leash at times. The other reviews mentioning prickly pears are accurate, but we found that there were only a few and easily avoided. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of dishes and cooking amenities - we didn't have to bring anything from home. Would definitely book again in the future!

We had a wonderful time on our vacation. The house was big enough we didn't feel as if we were on top of each other. The Ice Maker didn't work (but we never called about it) and our Hot Tub was not cleaned during the week (we didn't call about that either). When I am on vacation unless it is urgent, I don't like having to deal with this type of every day stuff. We loved that we didn't have to bring sheets or towels...The side porch was awesome. Wish the back yard would have been mowed, you couldn't even walk back there. Not a place for doggies either because of all of the cactus spurs.

We really enjoyed the house, it was well equipped clean and had a great location. The management company at Seaside was very friendly and helpful as well. The backyard, which made this house so desireable (because of our 2 dogs) was the only disappointment. The sand spurs in the yard made it inaccessible for humans or pets.

This was a great house with many amenenties and very comfortable for our group. Thought we were going to have wrestling matches every evening over the extremely comfortable leather chair in the living area. It was a nice set up and easy check in. The only problem was the sand spurs which were brutal, had to wear shoes in the house all week. But still a good value for money and the house had a certain charm to it. Would rent it again.

Was told house was great.But was wrong furniture was in bad shape.Lawn was awful. And the big problem was big roaches .I had 6 small kids with me and they carry germs.We had bought grocies which was 200.00 dollars and then was at beach and came in late and found bugs all in kitchen .We was scared to eat alot of the food then and had to trash it and eat out which cost more money.so we had to leave a day early.But do not get me wrong the beach was great. we even call and no one did anything just laugh it off and a lady at seaside just said her cats loved them...

over all we enjoyed the layout of the house. all rooms are spacious. Having the downstairs Den for 2 teenage boys was a huge plus. A few issues during our stay, oven broke while cooking Easter dinner. Dryer made terrible noise and took 2 hours to dry towels. Back yard not suitable for pets due to tiny cactus in yard. Got in dogs feet and caused problems.

This rental met our needs for our beach trip. We were looking for a property that was dog-friendly,, affordable, near the beach, and had a hot tub since we were in town to run the OBX Marathon. The bedroom/bathroom situation was ideal and the house was in great proximity to beach. The hot tub was not very hot, though. Keep an eye out for the pointy star plants - they are all over the yard and even the living room carpet! We spent the majority of our vacation picking them out of our pet's paws. Overall, the stay was good.

The overall cottage was very nice and comfortable for the entire family. Great location... I do not feel that it was very Pet Friendly... To get to the backyard you had to walk around the house to get to the gate. Once you get there you dont want to walk in the backyard without worrying about what would get in your dogs feet... we did not take a chance and go back there. In the front there was a cactus plant but the front steps which was scary with pets and children.

A wonderful time was had by our whole family from 78 yrs to 12 yr !! We loved the house, especially the enclosed patio. The dining room fit our whole family for those special family dinners. Our dogs loved it !! Would rent again. Only a couple of issues: There was not a vacumn, really need one with all the sand. We were unable to use the back yard as it was covered with burrs that would stick to their paws!! what a waste to a beautiful home :(

This house was very clean and the location was great. I liked that the street was quiet and it was only a short walk to the beach. The layout was great too, spread out! My suggestions to the owner would be...though pet friendly, which is great, the property could really use a company to get all the cactus' out so the spurs aren't so bad on the dogs feet (my dog got a lot which caused her pain) and maybe a new grill. Other than that, I'd definately stay there again...we had a great time!

We loved this house! The decorations were so beautiful. We didn't expect to have this much space so it was a treat when we walked in. The beds were comfortable as well as the couch. The hot tub made our stay even better. We also enjoyed the short walk to the beach. Can't wait to stay here again!

The decor in this home is very nice. Overall the cottage was well stocked and very comfortable. There were some amenities that we missed such as an ice maker (vs. ice cube trays). While the stove worked, 2 of the burners were very slow to get hot. There were numerous sand spurs in the backyard or in fact anywhere in the non-concrete areas. This made it very difficult for our dog. The furniture was very comfortable and in excellent condition. The beds were comfortable. The grill was in excellent condition and a nice feature with a picnic table under the deck--but then there were those sand spurs to deal with there. Overall--a nice place and an excellent value for the price. The home was very, very clean! Seaside Realty = excellent customer service.

The decorum and the space made this the perfect girls retreat for the
weekend. Three full baths made this a totally cool place for women. The hot
tub was a great way to end any evening. The kitchen provided any and
everything needed for a nice meal at home. And when needed housekeeping
responded immediately with a pleasant "anything we can do for you" attitude.
Starhanger's Lie location is just right, a hop, skip and a jump from the beach,
shops, and wonderful little restaurants that you won't find anywhere else.
Now it would have been perfect with a 52in flat screen tv upstairs, a pool and
maybe a new washer and dryer. Would I come back? Sure I would. -

This home was an absolutely wonderful place to stay and the price wasn't too bad either. Lots of room and close to the beach. Beach was not crowded at all at the closest access point. Our dog also loved the large back yard. The location was a perfect spot along the strip for shopping, eating and playing. I would certainly recommend this rental. The only down side that I can even think of was the cactus in the yard. If you didn't have shoes on you could easily step on them and of course our curious dog got one in her nose which she wasn't too happy about. Stay here and you will most certainly have a great time:)

Me and my family were quite pleased with the home. The house was spacious and comfortable and had a huge backyard that accommodated the three dogs that vacationed with us. The location was ideal. Close to the beach yet close to the main thoroughfare which takes you through most of the main towns in the Outerbanks. The hot tub was an added amenitie that we did not require but were quite pleased with and utilized throughout the week. I would definitely consider renting this home again in the future! Thank you.

Made last minute arrangements to say here mid-week for 3 days before we moved to another Seaside property for a week w/friends and were tickled turquoise -- perfect location, size, & amenities for us at this point. House nicer than it looks in pics! Kitchen was better stocked than the house we moved to later in the week for MORE people! Decor was fun; hot tub just right! Teens enjoyed location and steps to beach which was not crowded. One odd thing? No access to back yard from the house so we had to walked dog outside in order to let loose in back. Hmmm....
