"Edgewater" is a luxury home ideally suited to families who enjoy having their own private space when they are on vacation. When you rent this property you are getting two homes for the price of one. There is a main house with three bedrooms and a detached guest house offering another bedroom and full kitchen of its own. All told the property encompases 4,800 sq. ft.

Visitors to this soundside sanctuary have full access to the Southern Shores beaches, which are only a short bike or car ride from the house. Included in the rental packet are parking passes good for use at the Hillcrest Lifeguard Beach, amd other available swimming spots.... You will also get keys to the Southern Shores community tennis courts. And if you're a boater, you'll have privileges to lanch at the Southern Shores Boat Club. Then just head on over to Edgewater, which has a 24 ft. dock of its own.

The house is easy to get to. In fact, once you cross the Wright Memorial Bridge from Route 158, you're virtually there! No fighting traffic to reach our house. And the rental company where you pick up the keys is right nearby.

Edgewater is not your typical "beach box" house. You will experience the best of both worlds: Ready access to the beach and restaurants and shops, combined with the peaceful beauty of the Southern Shores coastline tucked against the edge of Kitty Hawk Woods. Take in the sunset over the top of marsh grasses. Listen as the frogs trill their songs. You can't beat open, undeveloped spaces. Edgewater is a true soundside sanctuary.

You can always reach the house from the water if you prefer to. Albemarle Sound connects to our inlet directly. Edgewater has a dock which measures 12 x 24 ft. It has mooring pilings and a solid pier leading up to the house. The water depth is approximately 3 ft. at the dock. The channel is much deeper. Feel free to bring your kayak or canoe along. The dock is a perfect spot for putting in.

If you were walking through the property, here's what it would look like:

The vaulted ceilings of the great room greet you as you walk in. Huge wooden cross beams salvaged from a barn in Pennsylvania barn hold the high ceiling up. There's a gourmet kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances.The dining table seats eight, and there are bar stools for five more. Edgewater is a "smart home." That means you will find WiFi, televisions, and controllable stereo speakers throughout the two houses. The living room features leather couches situated around a 52-inch flat screen T.V. with home theater surround sound.

Past the kitchen is a long hallway with three bedrooms off it, plus a separate half bath, too. The bedrooms each have their own lofts with either sleeping accomodations in each. The lofts also have great water views! Bedroom #1 is on the left as you head down the hall. It features a pyramid bunk. This bedroom shares a large bathroom with Bedroom #2, which is the next bedroom off the hallway past the laundry. Bedroom #2 has a queen-sized bed. At the end of the hall is Bedroom #3, the master bedroom, with its king-sized bed and luxurious master bath.

On the deck you'll find a large hot tub facing the water. The separate guest house is to your right. Inside is the living room and kitchen, with spiral stairs going to the fabulous loft. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed and comfortable sofa and chairs beneath the bedroom windows. The master bath can be reached from both either the bedroom or the living room.

The pool is on the ground floor within easy reach of the tiki bar and game room, where you can shoot some billards, watch T.V., or pour yourself a drink at the wet bar. During colder months, you may request to have the pool heat turned on for an additional fee. There's parking a plenty of parking, both covered and not. And off behind the house is the pier and dock.   I very much enjoyed my stay and would definately recommend this rental property, as I plan to stay there again myself. It was immaculately furnished...the pictures didn't do it justice. Everything was top of the line from the appliances to the Tempur-Pedic beds. The decor was very inviting, with neutral colors and plenty of natural light, I was able to see a cloud with a pink lining, as I sat in front of the window in the great room. The attention to detal was amazing with railroad tie rafters in the great room and brushed copper faucets in the bathrooms, as well as my favorite, the rain simulated shower. It was like a home away from home only much, much better. There is a jacuzzi with a view of the marsh and the long peer. The house is nestled in a quiet neighborhood that is amazingly close to the beach, with private parking for renters.

  This is a beautiful, perfectly appointed house in a stunning setting on a coastal creek. Spacious, beautiful views, dock and hot tub.
  
  The location is quiet and private while close to the ocean beaches and other attractions of the Outer Banks. A great place for a family gathering.

  We loved the floor plan of the main living area with the kitchen open to the great room. Flat screen TV, wonderful fireplace, nooks for playing board games or surfing the Internet. The well-appointed kitchen with two sinks was great for team cooking! Everyone loved having their own loft above their bedroom for private time--reading or TV watching. Very nicely furnished. One of the best things was the guest suite with its own kitchen, fireplace, and fabulous view of the marsh. We enjoyed sitting on the dock built over the marsh and watching the sunset.

  I spent girs getaway time at this property and couldn't be more pleased. It is gorgous! The kitcen and greatroom area is huge, with a beautiful stone fireplace. Each of the 3 bedrooms in the main house has a separate loft area - perfect for reading a book by yourself. After a long day of shopping at the outlet center, we enjoyed sipping wine under the stars in the hot tub. The sound and marsh is so peaceful. It was nice to have a cup of coffee on the screened porch and look out over the water. We didn't use the pool or the game room, but will take advantage of both when we come back next spring with more friends. We didn't use the guest house either, but it's as immaculate as the main house. The entire property is like a magazine home, and a great value as well. I can't wait to get back there!

  Best of two worlds in the Outer Banks!

  This is by far our favorite location in the Outer Banks! This is a beautiful home that offers quiet seclusion and access to all of the nearby attractions, including beaches and the sandy dunes of Kitty Hawk. Our children had plenty of space to read, watch TV, or play pool. Our favorite time to head to North Carolina is during the off-season and this home, with its gorgeous fireplace and stunning views from the hot tub made it our favorite! It is super clean and well-appointed, a true luxury experience. That said, I would also certainly love to stay there in the summertime as well, because the pool is so inviting. This home stands apart from other rental properties due to it's private, upscale location and quality construction (beautiful decks, dock, granite countertops, etc.) This is one of the Outer Banks' best kept secrets. Enjoy!

  This house was amazing!!! Located right on the Sound, it was such a peaceful retreat. The accommodations and the amenities at the house were top-notch. Each bedroom had it's own separate loft with tv--my daughter was in heaven! Lots to do nearby---great seafood markets and paddle board/kayak rentals. We rented paddle boards and paddled right by our house. Already making plans to return next year!!!

  This house made my first trip to the Outer Banks wonderful! Very clean and in great shape. It was spacious enough for the entire family, but still cozy and perfect for relaxing. Great view off the dock - lots of privacy. The kids enjoyed the bunk beds and the lofts in each of the bedrooms. They were also very entertained by the pool table when we weren't at the beach. It was hard leaving. I'll stay for a week next time!

  Edgewater is an amazing house, and the location/views are more than beautiful. The attention to detail and features of the house make it the nicest we've ever stayed at in all of our years coming to the OBX. It is located in a quiet, family oriented neighborhood that is ideally situated in Southern Shores with easy access to Kitty Hawk, Duck etc., without the crowds.
  
  Several screened in porches give you options for everything from morning coffee overlooking the channel, to dining al fresco off the great room. The kitchen was wonderfully appointed, with stainless appliances and every kitchen utensil/implement we required, making cooking very enjoyable. Though a large house, every room has a great intimate feel, and the interior decoration / appointments were upscale and comfortable.
  
  The dock, with its built-in seat, is an open invitation for a tranquil stroll, where we enjoyed beautiful sunsets with a glass of wine.
  
  Great hospitality, perfect location. We can't rate this highly enough.

  An amazing Find

  This is a hidden gem in the Outer Banks. We have been coming to the Outer Banks for over 10 years and have rented homes from Duck to Corolla -- and this home really stands out. It is beautifully decorated and really has the feeling of a home rather than a cookie cutter rental. It is charming, comfortable and warm. The courtyard pool was a bit hit -- and we spent many nights relaxing poolside by the outdoor kitchen/grill area while the kids swam and swam. The dock is an amazing place to drop a kayak or relax with a good book, cocktail or cup of coffee. The beach is a really short drive -- versus an incredibly long walk from some houses we have stayed in Duck. Best of all, it is off the beaten path so you don't have the crazy beach crowds and the drive check-in and check-out makes for an easy transition. This place is a winner -- and you can tell that the owners care. We will be coming back.
