We were very unhappy with this rental. The house was filthy and infested with ants. We ended up leaving a day early. Also the beds were extremely uncomfortable. I would look elsewhere!

Excellent location, plenty of room for 6 adults. On a dead end and only a few minutes walk from the beach. Beach was great and not too crowded. Dogs loved the fenced-in yard, screened in porch and the deck. The open floor plan (kitchen, living room, dining room) worked well. Only complaint was it needed more seating in the living room. Excellent help from rental company when cable went out.

The house was perfect for what we needed, a place to sleep and have a few meals in. The bedrooms were very nice, nice size and good storage space. The large room was again a great size; the kitchen, the coffee pot leaked, which was a pain to deal with daily, but otherwise fine. The porch and deck were good. The widows need cleaned on the porch and the deck had a few nails that were sticking up but otherwise good. The bathrooms worked well; I felt that the bathroom in the master needed to be cleaned a little better b/c there was still hair on the walls from the last guest. The yard is funny; it looks like you need to pull the weeds out of the sand, but it's nice to have. We liked that it was on a dead end b/c we did not have to worry about traffic with the kids. We would use the place again.

Pros:
1) pet friendly (properly fenced deck and yard)
2) very close to the beach and the beach entry/access point is straight down the road- 3 minute walk
3) bathrooms were updated and modern- solid surface countertops
4) screened in porch with ample seating- great place to play fetch with the dog
5) good price for location- I comparison shopped, and I think this was a good price for being so close to the beach
6) The beach here in Kitty Hawk was much less crowded than where our friends stayed in Nags Head
Cons:
1) kitchen is not updated- had trouble getting the stove burners to work on any setting other than high
2) mattresses are hard as Rocks- my back was killing me by the end of the week
3) I wanted to get in the soft spa to help my back, but the water would not heat up- after an hour, the temp had not changed at all- that was disappointing
4) The living room could use more seating. We had four people, and one couch and a chair was not enough. They could easily fit another couch in the living room.
5) There was hair all over the shower wall in the master bath from the last guest- cleaning services obviously does not pay much attention
6) the cracks in the couch are filled with crumbs and dog hair- again, cleaning services only touches the surface, so don't expect a thorough cleaning
Overall, I think it was a fine place to stay as it was close to the beach. A good cleaning, another couch, and fixing a few small things would give it a higher rating. There were no bugs or ants on our stay (I saw this issue in previous reviews), so they must have taken care of that issue prior to our stay. -

This house was really cute and great for our two small dogs. We left the screened in porch door open and the dogs could go down in the fenced in area. The master bed mattress was uncomfortable and the lights in the kitchen were not working properly but overall a nice house to stay in for the 5 of us.

We enjoyed the space and the weather. Was disappointed at the amount of ants in the kithcen, We were unable to put any food in the cupboards or on the counter. We had to store food and the large island. When we called about it they wanted to come spray for ants but we declined because we had our dogs with us and we didn't want them exposed to the ant killer. If we stayed there again I would hope that this would not be a problem again.

Our vacation was very enjoyable, surroundings beautiful, lots to do. Home was clean and comfortable and location was fine for us. Only problem would be trip in on Saturday. We spent three hours in stop and go traffic on last 23 miles. Please advise your customers that this is probably going to be a factor when arriving on Saturday. Once we arrived,however, we were able to relax. That was the only reason for the lower rating on checkin. There was no problem with service.

The house was a cute little cottage needs some work.Had a lot of ants and was not very clean.Had issue getting into laundry but after the second try from the realty we got it open.had to go buy cleaning supplies to clean the showers and the sinks.when we first got there.

This house had a lot of nice features. It's affordable for a single family or a couple and that's a big plus, particularly with all the mini-motels that have sprung up on the OBX in the past decade or so. I enjoyed the one level floor plan, The screened porch and soft sided spa were definite bonuses. Effort has been made to make the house a pleasing/comfortable place in which to stay, without overdoing. Nice bathrooms. Pleasant living area. Nice comfy furniture on the screened porch. We used the ceiling fans and appreciated having them in two of the bedrooms and in the living area.
The main problem with this home revolves around sleeping. It's on a road just off of the main highway in Kitty Hawk and could use some soundproofing, at least for the bedrooms. Traffic starts to roar quite early in the A.M. The main problem with this house is that all of the beds are hard as rocks! The mattresses definitely need to be upgraded for comfort. I might consider a return to the property if the bedding was upgraded. -

The location and access to the beach were excellent for a house not directly on the beach. The location alone make this a great vacation home.
The jacuzzi on the deck overlooking the ocean was one of our favorite things - wonderful place to relax at the end of the day. Well maintained and room for the entire family.
The house itself was clean and in good overall shape. The main dining/family area was nice and open with excellent views out over the ocean.
The playroom was a nice break for the kids, though it could use a little freshening up. The foosball table was probably one of the kids favorite things. -

Kitty HawkMaintenance and Communicatiuons Issues

I thought based on my on-line reservation that basic linen services were provided but beds would not be made. No linens were provided and I had to go out to purchase them as there were not enough linens on hand from any Resort Realty location. Think reservation needs to have 3 boxes. Linens provided-beds will not be made in advance; Linens will be provided and beds will be made in advance; and no linens provided-customer will provide own linens.
I received calls from the real estate agency that was selling property who wanted to show property while we were there. It did not sound like I had a choice except in time. When I spoke to your office the appointment was canceled but had I known that the property was listed for sale, I probably would have chosen another property just to avoid any hassel while I am on vacation.
I reported that screen door was in need of repair. It was not repaired or replaced. We could not use the screen porch for my pet because the screen door was literally off the hinge.
We had an ant problem which I did not report as above request was not followed up.
On the positive side, the cottage was nice and we would consider renting again if the above problems were "fixed."
