A wonderful getaway right on the water! The beach is so close you can hear it inside and see it sitting on the couch. You can walk half a mile up the beach and have the best hamburger in NC.

We had a great time. The weather was great until the last day.when sandy came. We left a day early. We saw the dolphins. The fishing was great! The beach house was a bit small. But nice location! Walk out the door your on the beach! Nice shopping prices were great this time. Of year.

We loved our stay at Neaptide. It is a cozy cottage right on the beach in Kitty Hawk. The location is great. You can fish, sun and swim. This is our second time around and we plan to come back.

Very memorable experience. Very private personal beach area by porch. Cottage was nice, but needs some updating. It really has everything you need to get you through, but could be more comfortable in the furnishings.

Small, but perfectly fine for my husband and I. Great location right on the beach with wonderful porch. Kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to cook small meals. Location was great...close to grocery stores and restaurants and not a far drive from cute towns like Duck and Corolla. Our only complaint was the size of the bed (a double I think). It was very difficult to get used to sleeping in that size bed. Also, we saw several spiders in the house (one in the bed!).

Neaptide is a sweet little house right on the beach. The views and the sound of the ocean made our stay very special. We loved the covered porch,too.
This little cottage is rustic but adequate. The only complaint we have is the furnishings in the living area are uncomfortable--built in benches with cushions.
The location definitely made the vacation.

Our stay at neaptide was magnificent. the weather didnt cooperate but the house was very cozy and welcoming. a true beach experience. almost as if though it was a small boat upon the ocean.

My husband surprised me with this "Relaxing" week at the beach for my 50th birthday and it is by far the best gift I have ever recieved from him!!Neaptide was just the right size for the 2 of us and having the ocean at our doorstep was heavenly:)The only change that I would make is replacing the double bed with a queen:) We will be back!!!

I don't mind doing the dishes when the sink faces the ocean. We are charmed by this little cottage. It reminds us of what OBX was like back in the 1940s. And to step right outside to the ocean! My 80 some years mother loves this view and easy access. We've been regulars with her granddaughters at Neaptide since Isabel. We'll keep coming back!

The house was small.It was very clean and cozy.There was a small problem with checking in early,the house was not ready,but the realty company was very accomodating and helpful with the situation.I will stay there again and try the early check in again.

perfect house for two. great views of ocean thru windows. beach is right out the "back" door. not too close to public access, so you don't have to fight for a spot in front of your own cottage. bed is fairly comfortable, but "couches" in living room need more cushioning. we stayed for 2 weeks, so it was probably a little harder to get comfy after that long. on hot days (90+), the air conditioning had trouble keeping it cool. house has a peaked roof with high ceilings that held a lot of heat, and the blowers were high up too, so maybe that's why. all in all, we loved it, and are staying there again next year!

This home is the typical beach cottage - nothing fancy... But... that is just what we wanted! It is right on the ocean. We walked right out the back door to the beach! Fished mornings and evenings then played in the ocean all day...that is actually what we did all day, every day. This was our perfect vacation and we will rent this house again next year. It is perfect for two people who just want to go relax at the beach.If you aren't high maintenance and just want to enjoy the ocean this is the place for you to stay! The kitchen has everything you need to cook so other than groceries you don't need to leave if you don't want to...we didn't want to.View is great from inside the house or from the deck. Seaside was great, the whole check in / check out process was painless.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon here and it was an incredible experience. The oceanside setting was so relaxing and made it very easy to be romantic. The size is perfect for couples...I personally would not recommend it for families with children. The area is very convenient as well. Grocery stores are close by as well as good restraunts and tourist spots (parasailing, jet skiing, mini-golf, etc.). I'd say it's an ideal vacation spot for husband and wife!

The views from the covered deck are fantastic. We spent lots of time out there. The location is also great, you can't beat it.
On the down side, the bathroom has no storage for toiletries. A small vanity in place of the pedestal sink would be a great help. There is a cupboard door that doesn't close very well and kept popping open. There was some dusting that needed to be done, a wooded bird sculpture on the dining room table and the wine rack below the cupboards had dust and cobwebs on them. There is no remote for the TV and the couches are extremely uncomfortable to sit on (when it rains you need something to do).
Overall it seems like I'm nitpicking because the views and location just might outweigh everything else.Response from Seaside Vacations* - 07/09/2011

This property is a very nice, cozy beach cottage. Walk out the door and down the steps and you're on the beach. Walk 40 feet down the beach and you are in the ocean. Fall to sleep hearing the ocean waves crashing on sandy beach and wake up to the sun rising over the ocean, the sound of the waves, and the beautiful harmonies of the sea gulls, a true symphony of nature. This property is where you want to stay if you desire a simple, relaxing, uncomplicated vacation.

The ocean is just about literally at the back door of this little cottage. It was a picture perfect week that even Hurricane Earl couldn't ruin, quiet and peaceful. The house itself is small and very charming, just perfect for one person, or a couple.

This house was extremely cute inside. My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and it was perfect for the two of us. The house had a great view of the ocean. It was not rare for when we sat down for lunch that we could watch the porpoises playing in the water! It was a great house that we will consider revisiting for our next family vacation.

You can't beat being able to walk directly onto the beach from the front porch. It was a neat little place, but not the cleanest. There were ants and spiders that made cooking and eating in the house not desirable. Seaside did come out and set ant traps, which helped some. Overall, this is a cool little cottage, but I think my wife and I will prefer to stay in a nicer house next time.

Just got back from our trip to Kitty Hawk, and my family & I couldn't be happier with Neaptide & Seaside Vacations! Check-in was fast & easy (courteous staff), the cottage was even nicer than we had imagined (they should include a picture of the living room-it is sweetly pleasant and was comfy for two adults and one 7 yr. old!). The house had everything we needed, everything worked great, and the location is Kitty Hawk beach at it's best!!

My husband and I enjoyed having an oceanfront rental. The beach was right outside the front door, which gave us a wonderful beach experience. However, the photos did not indicate the lack of living room furniture and the tiny bathroom. The bed was not very comfortable either. I understand it is a beach house, but it was very difficult to get comfortable and relax in this house, especially during a week-long stay.
Seaside Vacations is a nice company to rent from. The rental information was prompt, and they were available for online Q&A after hours. Overall, we enjoyed the vacation. I will just search for a larger rental home during our next stay.Response from Seaside Vacations* - 04/30/2010

The service was top notch. The cottage was not. You should not rent, unless you have looked at the home beforehand.
First it was less then clean. No supplies had been left and I didn't realize that paper products were to be furnished by me, as well as soap. The cleaner forgot to leave the courtesy bag.
I wanted, and told you that I wanted to walk out to the ocean from the house. As you know, I am old and find walking difficult. When we got there the front had been completely closed off with piles of sand. There was no way I could get out to the beach. Thanks to the owner's son coming to work on the house next door, he scraped out a path for me on Thursday. That was the only day I was able to reach the beach and walk. Had I known that before I got there, I could have rented another one.
The windows were so dirty I couldn't really see out of them. I realize that sand and wind play havoc with them, but I took two screens out and washed them and one window. I also bent back the screen that had been pried up by burglars, to keep bugs out when I opened the window.
This is not something that a tenant should have to do.
All and any dishes I used had to be washed before use. The oven racks were so sticky that I just closed the door and refused to use it. There was dried food in a strainer in the cupboard. The shower curtain liner was too small for the shower and water poured out the back on to the floor so that I had to mop the floor until I got on to putting towels down to keep from slipping.
These were all things I showed to the man next door and he understood. When I went to make the bed the curtains fell on my head and when he came to put them up he found that his mother had not put brackets up to hold them in place and had just laid them over the ledge. I couldn't fix it and he said to just leave it and he would. He was extremely nice to me and helped me with my luggage.

We were very pleased with Neaptide. Everything in the home was exactly as described. Perfect size for two adults. Appliances and home were in good condition. We loved being right on the beach. Easy access to many restaurants and attractions.
There was a small plumbing issue which was immediately corrected when we notified the maintenance staff.
If we had to find one possible area for improvement it would be the hard mattress on the bed and hard cushions on the couches and chairs. By the end of the week we were seeking softer seats. But, this was minor. We didn't go to the beach to sit around inside the house!

This was the 1st time for us visiting the OBX. It was a weekend getaway before our baby is due in February 2010. Despite the weather being just as cold as it was in Pittsburgh, we absolutely loved the Neaptide property as well all of its surroundings. We decided that it will be a great place to start a summer family tradition for our new addition. Not to mention, while planning the trip, the staff @ Seaside Vacations was very helpful and friendly. We will definately return as well as recommend it to friends and/or fsmily.

An excellent value! Loved the location right on the beach. The house was in great condition and served our needs perfectly. Only one issue: we couldn't get the DVD player to work. But I would highly recommend Neaptide nonetheless.

house was great. came with everything that you would need on vacation. just right for 2 people. location very good. close to a lot of good restaraunts, wal-mart, grocery store. the beach is right off your back porch. the view is beautiful.

The service from Seaside Vacations is very basic, but efficient (e.g., "Here's they keys, have a nice time").
The location of the cottage is fabulous - right on the water, just steps away from the ocean. It's very cozy, just a double bed as listed, but the bed is very comfortable! There is also plenty of dresser storage.
The blender works beautifully (which is a rarity), the dining room table is comfy, and the kitchen area is good for the basics.
The bathroom is spacious, although the shower is a bit tight and could use a more functional shower caddy (for shampoo, etc).
A few negatives:
1) The "Bahama Beds" are just cheap, thin cushions placed on wooden storage units - they make for a terrible place to sit or sleep. Maybe a small child could sleep on one, but certainly not an adult. Because they are so uncomfortable, there is really no place to sit and watch tv in the living room (they do NOT function as couches).
2) We had to rent beach chairs (the ones that came with the house were the plastic , patio type and three out of four of them were broken).
3) The "outside shower" has no stall and no base/platform to stand on, so it essentially serves no purpose (since after you use it, you have to walk back through the sand to the steps).
4) The cleaning people could do a better job - the windows and blinds are filthy, and there is alot of dusting that could easily be done inside the house (e.g., bedposts, night tables, etc).
5)More hangers in the closet would be helpful as well (I think there were five total).
Overall, it's a good place for a couple. If useable beach chairs and hangers were added, the cleaning people did a better job, and some kind of functional format was added to the outside shower, it could be even better! -

We booked to stay for the week that ended August and started September. Unfortunately we only stayed for three nights due to windy and rainy weather which meant that the advantages of the house were outweighed by its disadvantages.
First, the good news. The house is right on the beach and is comparatively private. It has a reasonably-sized living area and bathroom with a good shower.
Second, the OK news. The porch overlooking the sea is quite nice. But it has solid sides to waist level - which makes sitting out watching the sea difficult to do. And the deck furniture is a bashed-up mismatch of plastic and wood with no table suitable for eating outside. No screen door was also a surprising omission.
Third, the bad. The inside is pretty dated, with old cushions on chairs, odd fishy decorations and a random collection of crockery. An interior refresh of fresh plates, glasses and cushions would be relatively easy and cheap to do. The bedroom ceiling is patched with foil - right at eye level when you're lying down. And the bathroom window lacks a blind, which puts your top half on show for the street.
When we stayed, sitting on the beach was out due to the weather. And being cooped inside a so-so house meant we cut out trip short. -

Check in went as well as expected. Since this was the second year we stayed at Neaptide, we knew what to expect as far as the property, amenities etc. I was pleasantly surprised to find central a/c -- yippee!
Unfortunately, we decided not to come back next year because of the bed of all things. The mattress is just plain uncomfortable making a good nights sleep impossible. -

IF CHECK OUT IS AT 10 THE THEY SHOULD BE DONE. OUR HIRE MORE!!!! VERY OTHER COMPANY WE USED BEFORE NEVER MADE US WAIT. WE DID NOT GET OUR KEY UNTIL 5:30. THAT LIKE TAKING ONE DAY FORM US. SO YOU LOSE. NOT ME BECAUSE WE COME DOWN EVERY YOU. AND RENT ABOUT 2 TO 3 HOUSE. THESE YEAR IT WAS JUST ME AND MY HUSBAND AND YOU HAD A 1 BEDROOM HOUSE SO WE TRY YOUR COMPANY. IT WILL BE THE LAST TIME TOO.

My husband and I have rented Neaptide at least ten times. We find Neaptide the perfect Outer Banks experience for us. The beach lulls us to sleep each night in our cozy quarters. Wonderful restaurants are just minutes away. We also were pleased to have the amenities of the KIlmaric Golf Club as an added value to our vacation. The use of their immaculate pool, fitness center, basketball court and golf course was an extra holiday indulgence provided by Seaside Vacations. We have already booked Neaptide for our 2010 vacation!!!

We were in Kitty Hawk 5/16 through 5/23. The House is in a great location- the beach is literally right outside the back door. the house is pretty dated and basic, the kitchen is small- no gourmet cooking here. The bedroom is small but comfortable with plenty of clothes storage. The bathroom is the biggest downfall of the house- big enough but the shower is terrible- very small and closed in- actually dreaded having to get in it. And there is no blind or curtain on the bathroom window. Also the steps onto the porch from the front are very steep and hard to maneuver with suitcases, etc. The porch is kind of closed in so don't expect to sit in a chair and see the beach. We had a maintenance issue with the back door and it was fixed immediately so that was great. I would rate the house on a scale of 1-10 (10 being best) probably a 5 and the location a definite 10. We had a nice time. Make sure you take a drive south to Ocracoke (total drive and ferry time about 2 hours each way) and also a few miles north to Duck- on the sound. There is a visitor center about a mile north of the house that has lots of good info and the staff is very helpful.

This property was not suitable for renting. It was falling apart. The shower was too gross to step into, the furniture was old and delapidated, and the kitchen was useless. The sofa cushion bed for kids was horrible. The only positive is the ocean was right outside. I definitely would not rent from Seaside Realty or this house again. It's property we'd like to forget.

This home is an original Outer Banks "beach box." It may be a bit rustic, but many guests enjoy the old fashioned beach feel. This cottage is one of the best values on the ocean in OBX--this was our second summer and we probably would have continued staying there but we need a pet-friendly place and a bit more room...the view from the front windows is awesome---who minds doing dishes when you can look out to the ocean? The covered porch is also a great feature to enjoy the sun rise, dolphin watch or just get some relief from the sun. Inside, the amenities are basic but comfortable and functional. The full bed is way too small for a couple used to a king but we managed. The decor is o.k. and everything is clean and usable. The bathroom is large and updated but the shower stall is awfully small and not so convenient (no tub). The kitchen is basic but all you need for the week. No enclosed outside shower---just a nozzle off the corner of the cottage---not too convenient. Central air would work better than the two window units---not terribly effective if it gets really hot outside. No dishwasher or washer/dryer but, again, not a big deal in the big picture. It is definitely a cozy, quaint, little beach bungalow that we thoroughly enjoyed for two summers. We are sad to leave Seaside since they have been great---things like having linens included and a very, very clean cottage waiting for you---but we need to bring those puppies and get a bit more room. All in all, this an excellent single family place for the couple looking for a romantic, private vacation and don't want to stay in a multi-unit building. Highly recommended for the location and the money! Enjoy!
