  Lake View Retreat certainly met the space needs of our group but the sulphur smell of the water each time someone showered or we used hot water in the kitchen was very unpleasantly overwhelming throughout the cabin. I was told by rental agency staff that this was a common problem with well-water in that part of eastern Tennessee. Also, given that a $100 cleaning fee was required, I expected that the cabin would actually be clean. There were clean sheets on the beds and the bathrooms appeared clean (except for the dead bugs found in the master bathtub). There were, however, obvious dust bunnies in the non-carpeted areas and the bottom of the kitchen trash can was filthy. It's a good thing that I brought some trash bags and toilet tissue with me because there was certainly not enough for ten people for our three day rental eventhough these things were suppose to be provided. The staff of the agency was not available 24 hours/day as advertised but were very pleasant when I was able to reach someone. When trying to contact someone outside of regular office hours, I got a recording that instructed me to leave a message with the emergency/maintenance person. Each time I tried to do this, an electronic voice told me that the box was full. Although our group had a pleasant time overall, we won't be back.

  We are thankful for every review that we receive, especially when they respectfully point out areas where we can improve. Obviously there is very little that we can do about the sulfur smell in the hot water. Even with some of the most expensive water systems we've noticed that that small just persists sometimes.
  
  Cleanliness, however, is another issues altogether. PLEASE anytime you stay with us, give us the opportunity to make it right! If we had been informed of the cleaning issues we would have sent our first available housekeeping crew over to "spruce up."
  
  We do our best to make it clear to our guests prior to their arrival that we only provide a starter supply of necessary items such as toilet paper, trash bags, laundry soap, etc. Typically the amount that we supply is enough to get you through the first couple of days, and then you'll likely need to make a Wal-Mart run.
  
  We apologize for the inconvenience with the telephone system. There was a period of about 24 hours during which our voice mailbox was full and we were not aware. The messages are delivered automatically via email to the appropriate staff member. As a result we have been guilty of not checking the system manually, which is when we would have learned that the mailbox was full. We now have an alert set up so that when that mailbox is full we will know to empty it. We are very sorry for this inconvenience. We do respond to emergency messages 24 hours a day. If there is no danger of personal injury or loss of property we typically respond to after hours calls the next day.

  Christmas in the Smokies.

  We decided to give our children and grandchildren a Christmas gift of time together in the Smokies. We had reserved the "Lake View Retreat" because of the sleeping capacity. We could not have been happier with our entire experience with the folks at Vacation Valley Cabin Rentals. The communication prior to our visit was always prompt with simple instructions, the staff was always pleasant and willing to answer all questions. The check-in was quick and painless. Our accomodations was better than expected with spacious rooms and the decor was very attractive. The beds all slept very well. The cabin was equipped with everything needed. The check-out was very easy as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our entire trip and the family was unanimous that they wanted to make this an annual event preferably in this same cabin. This experience allowed us to return to what is most enjoyable about Christmas...the simple fact of spending uninterrupted time with family!!!

  Most relaxing, fun vacation we had in years!!!

  The cabin was absolutely beautiful. Usually when we come to Gatlinburg or Piegon Forge we stay in a condo or hotel, this was sooo much better. We barely left the cabin (which was exactly what we needed, some relaxation). There was a hot tub right out of our bedroom on the wraparound porch , a pool table in the basement, tvs in the bedrooms and living room, there was even a washer and dryer. I could have stayed there forever!!!
