Sydney, AustraliaIf you want to unwind this is the place to go.
Left on 10/23/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We have just returned from the most relaxing holiday in this most beautiful villa in a very tranquil part of Koh Samui.
The villa is most stylishly decorated but is not at all pretentious, the bedrooms are all very spacious and airy and if you are travelling in a group the other bedrooms are set a little way apart from each other so that you are not getting in each other's way. The garden is very peaceful.
The outside area around the pool is fantastic and when it gets a little too hot there is an amazing elevated "cabana" with lounges that is just perfect for a little afternoon snooze with the breezes wafting through as you listen to the ocean lap the shore. That is after you have eaten some of the best lunches (in our case Thai Food) but Western is also on the menu. I don't think we could fault the food even if we wanted to. For us the food was faultless. Fresh fish caught in the morning served for dinner, amazing Thai salads and curries not to mention the best fruit smoothies served around the pool that the amazing staff (totally unobtrusive) made for us without having to ask.
The housekeeper set the most beautiful floral decorations every night for dinner that would not have been out of place in a 5 star hotel. We ate outside most nights.
The food for us was just one of the highlights. A sunset at akuvara is not to be missed the colours are just so vibrant. The perfect start to an evening sitting outside.
The whole experience was by far one of the most relaxing and enjoyable beach holidays we have had. We barely moved from the Villa. If you do feel the need to do something the local town is only a 10 min drive away. Our children aged 15 and 13 equally enjoyed it. There is a canoe, volley ball net, snorkelling exploring the beach/reef.
The service was professional and friendly, the villa just beautiful we would certainly love to go back again. I would certainly recommend this for either a family or couples destination.

Hong KongExtraordinarily Indulgent - Ultimate Family Holiday
Left on 10/11/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We had 3 adults and 3 children under the age of two, and for our hectic entourage we felt so relaxed and so well looked after for the whole week we spent at akuvara. The pool was heavenly and the basically private beach (no one else was on the beach) was wonderful, especially with children. However the highlight must be the so attentive conceirge and the amazing chef, plus the gorgeous sala within which we enjoyed nightly massages.
From the moment we arrived we were treated to such impeccable service and warmth. We got to choose our menu for the day each morning and we were served the freshest and most delightful food. A truly extradordinary experience. When you are able to experience bliss with young children you know you have stumbled across a gem. Whatever we wanted, day trips, massages, manicures, everything was possible and arranged. I can not recommend this accommodation enough. -

Left on 05/14/2012 for a stay in March 2012
We stayed at akuvara in March 2011 for 11 nights and had the most amazing time. We returned to the villa for a 3 night stay in March 2012 to celebrate our first anniversary. Akuvara is not only located on one of the quietest & secluded beaches on the island but is perfect for both family / groups as well as for couples wanting solitude. The villa's live in staff & chef are wonderful people who all go out of their way to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as possible. On this trip we stayed for 3 nights and did not leave the villa except to walk along the beach which we pretty much had to ourselves for 90% of the time. All meals were outstanding. We could never afford to own our home abroad but returning to akuvara we were made to feel so special by all the staff and we hope to one day return again.

Left on 04/19/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We stayed at akuvara for 11 nights before & after our wedding in Lipa Noi in March 2011 and chose the villa for its close location to the wedding venue. Lipa Noi is the perfect location for those who want the complete opposite to Chaweng. Akuvara is without doubt the 'flashest' place any of us have stayed at - our ages range from 17 - 90 ! everyone of us had the most amazing time at akuvara. The accommodation is exactly as it looks in the photographs - we all commented on how the beds were the best we had ever slept in. Above all else what made our stay so wonderful were the villa's live in staff & chef who could not have made us feel any more special - the service was brilliant. Breakfast was the perfect start to the day - sitting outside by the pool watching the local fishermen come back with their nights catch. All the meals we had were cooked & presented in a style that would not be out of place in a very expensive restaurant. Our requests varied from vegetarian to fish & chips and no meal disappointed. Tom the chef can cook tofu like no other. We really had no need to leave the villa other than to visit our other family & friends who were staying in Lipa Noi - To this end a car is essential as you really are in the middle of nowhere !. Without doubt akuvara is a place where dreams come true and for our stay the girls felt like princesses & the boys could pretend they had won lotto (if only for 11 days). The perfect villa for family or friends to enjoy time together. We will find an excuse to return

Left on 03/26/2011 for a stay in December 2010
Fantastic Location and very well maintained. Didnt feel the need to go out to anywhere else on the island at all. So the kids spent most of the time in the pool or Sea and my parents on the patio. Food was fresh and prepared when we wanted it. Half the family is vegetarians and they really enjoyed the choice. Best for family or close friends.

Perth, Western AustraliaA perfectly relaxing family experience
Left on 03/14/2011 for a stay in July 2010
We were lucky enough to stay at akuvara with our two daughters aged 2 and 5 at the time, in July 2010. Although initially apprehensive about staying on the relatively remote West Coast of Samui, we found that there was plenty to do and see nearby, and no shortage of places to eat. Service was impeccable and the facilities first rate. However, the children were required to sleep in a separate pavilion, so be sure to bring an intercom/monitor if this is of concern. The local beach was swimmable and clean (by Thai standards) and a close reef provided interest for the children. The view over the gulf to the Five Islands is superb, and the slow (and quiet) passage of ferries to and from the nearby terminal was quite soothing. We really could not want for more in family holiday to Samui.

AustraliaBeautiful villa with the most amazing sunsets!
Left on 10/20/2010 for a stay in January 2010
We spent a few weeks here and I have to say it was the best place I have stayed in all of Thailand!!! From the moment we arrived, the live in staff (Yim and Lut) looked after us so well, and were some of the most lovely people you will ever meet. They know how to make the perfect gin and tonic, which won me over instantly!
The property was very beautiful, with all of the rooms nestled amongst a tropical garden. The living areas and master bedroom opening up to a phenomenal view over the infinity edge pool, the beach and all the way out to 5 spectacular islands that rise sheer out of the water on the horizon. The sala was my favorite place to while away the day, perched between the pool and the beach, it was great to just roll/jump in the water to cool off. The sunsets here are truly spectacular and are best viewed by sitting in the warm shallows of the beach with a cocktail, amazing!!! Think we spent every evening there!
The location is quite remote for Samui, but I loved that about the place. It was only a short trip into Nathorn village and we hired scooters and explored the palm lined rural roads, hidden restaurants, beaches and waterfalls around the western side of the island. There were quite a few high quality restaurants around at neighboring resorts that our driver took us to. Along with our very own Thai chef, we ate some of the most amazing food!
We will definitely be back! -

AustraliaA little slice of heaven!
Left on 05/07/2010 for a stay in April 2009
Location, location, on the beach means on the beach
at this amazing home, Akuvara! Its private,
definately not touristy like many other parts of
the island and you are totally spoilt by the
amazing staff. The bedrooms are separate from the
main living area giving great privacy and they are
designer decorated. The beds are extrememly
comfortable, the ensuite spotless and its all air-
conditioned! One of the hardest decisions I had to
make was choosing from the menu, there was so much
to choose from and it all tantalised my
tastebuds![I now love Thai food!] Another hard
decision was whether I would swim in the pool, lay
on the daybed in the salah and gaze at the five
islands in the distance or swim and snorkle in the
sea... too hard to decide so I just did it all!
Snorkling the little reef was amazing...so many
coloured fish and coral. I dont think I could say
what I liked the best as the whole stay at Akuvara
was fantastic, although sitting in the shallows at
low tide, watching the amazing sunsets every
evening with my drink being refreshed by the staff
takes some beating. What I liked least was saying
goodbye but I will definately return! -

London, EnglandExcellent, a beauiful house in a perfect location.
Left on 04/30/2010 for a stay in April 2010
Our family spent a week at the house and would have no hesitation in recommending Akuvara to anyone. It is very luxurious and is exactly like it is depicted in the photos - no disappoinments!
The staff were all extremely helpful and could not have done more to ensure our holiday was a success. There was nothing that we didn't like and our four teenage children had a fabulous time. All the meals we had at the villa were delicious. They descirbed the beds at the house as the most comfortable they had ever slept in! The pool is lovely and the beach deserted and very safe. We would certainly love to return to Akuvara. Thank you. -

Australia.Very special holiday!
Left on 04/29/2010 for a stay in December 2009
What an indulgence to have our own chef as well as the very capable, considerate villa staff, who are so eager to please.
The home consists of several separate 'houses' with all modern amenities. It is just so easy to live in.
It is right on the coast of the Gulf with delightful calm water just metres away across our own stretch of beach (which is raked each morning),as well as our own pool.
A car is needed to access it as the site is somewhat isolated - but the isolation is also a plus. It is so peaceful. -

Australia (but ex Thailand residents)Simply the best holiday ever!
Left on 04/28/2010 for a stay in October 2009
Akuvara is a very special place. The view of the islands is spectacular; the
sunsets without equal, however the home and environs is outstanding. The
staff of three looked after our every whim, were unobtrusive but made sure
every tiny detail was covered. Each suite had it's own features - we liked the
upstairs one overlooking the whole property and then out to sea. Another
suite looks first to the pool then out to sea, and the other two are surrounded
by the beautiful grounds. It was a fantastic place for a holiday - we could lie
by the pool; breakfast in the sala; walk along the beach, or on a few occasions
we ventured a few minutes in the car for a massage (although we could have
had that at home too!) Every meal the chef prepared for us was delicious.
Because he was on site, he was able to prepare anything at all - from a cheese
toasted sandwich to some of the loveliest Thai food we have ever eaten. The
quality of ingredients he had access to was first class. That, along with the
high standard of housekeeping, helped to make our holiday one to remember
- with a return visit in the pipeline!
