We (me, wife, 4.5 year old son, 2.5 year daughter) loved our stay at the Butterfly Garden villa. We were lucky enough to be there for 9 nights this past april. From the first e-mail until the day we left, David was a pleasure to work with. The booking of the villa, etc was all super easy. We were able to rent a car through David and he even provided a car seat for us, which was perfect. The pick up and drop off at the airport was a big bonus.
The villa is nice and has plenty of space for everyone. Having the pool was perfect with the kids. We had to drag them to the beach because the didn't want to leave the pool. The villa is a little bit away from all the hustle and bustle of Chaweng and Bophut, but was perfect for our taste. Both those areas are only about a 20 minute drive away so they are close enough that you can easily visit them. There are a few great restaurants right down the road (walking distance) from the villa, so you don't have to venture too far for great Thai food.
David mentioned that he was going to be doing some work to the villa after we left, which can only make it even better.
We are looking forward to a future holiday there. -

I stayed in this villa with two of my siblings for four days in March. It was absolutely perfect. The booking process was very easy, and I was able to pay for everything through Paypal.
From the beginning of the trip, we arrived in beautiful Koh Samui and were greeted at the airport by David. He was very friendly and very helpful. As this villa is a little bit hard to find, he pointed out markers on the drive over. (After getting lost on the first day, we became experts on the local area and didn't get lost again for the rest of the trip!)
When we arrived at the villa, it was exactly as the pictures and website had made it seem. The villa was clean, the pool was perfect, and we had no issues. There are some delicious restaurants and wonderful massage places close by. David has thought of everything, and he gave us a cell phone to use in case we needed to contact him. (Lucky for us, because we decided to switch out the truck we rented for something smaller, and he was happy to oblige.)
The only issue that we had is that we went in March, which is known to be a hot and dry month, and there is no aC in the main parts of the house. The bedrooms, however, have aCs that work great!
A few extra points that might be useful: there is a full kitchen, a safe, and free wi-fi provided.
Overall, I recommend this to any group of three or more (or even couples if you want more privacy) and to families that are traveling. It was a great experience, and being in a villa, as opposed to separate hotel rooms, allowed everyone to hang out and spend time together. The rest of my siblings have decided that they will be joining us next year, so we may be back to this wonderful villa. -

Lovely Villa
Got picked up and dropped back to airport by Owner.
Hired 2 cars whilst there both waiting for us. Need cars for going round Island.
Nice quite spot away from touristy part.
Cleaned every 3 days .
Would recommend no prob. We should have booked for longer though.
Owner very nice recommended couple of good places. -

the villa is perfect, the location idyllic, and the owner absolutely fabulous and made us feel like if anything at all was needed we could rely on him 100 per cent. I will certainly be planning another trip back to villa butterfly garden view as its one of the most beautiful places i have ever been too in asia. top marks all round!

The experience we had at Butterfly Garden Villa exceeded our expectations. We were given free airport transfers to and from the Villa. Upon arrival, David and his staff members greeted us and gave us a guided tour of the Villa.
They showed us many things, including how to turn on the jacuzzi, how to operate the security safe, and he even gave us a free mobile phone with no usage charge for our entire stay.
As we had hired a Toyota avanza 7 seater through David months before our arrival, the car was already parked on the driveway of the Villa ready for us to use straight away upon arrival! In many ways, David is very thoughtful he made our stay very convenient and comfortable.
The cleaning service happed after 2 nights stay, David's cleaning staff cleaned the entire Villa, changed our towels, bed sheets and topped up our fruit platter.
The facilities at the Villa was as good as it looks on the website. Generous sized ensuites, many large living quarters, and the beautiful pool area. The Villa was really clean and spacious with air-conditioning in every ensuites.
Location wise the Villa is situated rather remotely but in a safe neighbourhood. David only lives 5 minutes away so if anything were to happen just give him a buzz he is never far away. Hiring a car through David's website is highly recommended, no need to ride taxis in the middle of the night and drive anywhere you desire.
During our stay, we were able to call David for assistance with one particular door lock and he was able to come by the Villa immediately and organised for it to be fixed. We even called David on various occasions to seek advice on restaurant suggestions. We were very comfortable in dealing with David, he gave us 100% trust from the very beginning.
Overall the service provided by David and his staff members were delivered exceptionally. Being a small and friendly team, we were made to feel very welcome, trustworthy and at ease throughout our entire stay.

A really, really lovely villa situated on a hill a 5 minute walk to the beach in Lamai, Koh Samui.
4 bedrooms are all double rooms with en suite shower room, and the master bedroom is an en suite bathroom. There is also a 5th restroom.
The kitchen facilities are excellent with all modern appliances such as food processor, blender, filter coffee machine etc, there is security lock box (safety deposit), LCD tv with satellite, DVD player.
All of these inside the villa make for an incredibly comfortable stay.
The pool area is excellent for sunbathing and refreshing in the pool. The outdoor jacuzzi gives extra luxury.
Barbecue and outdoor dining areas are excellent too!
Personally I would recommend car hire to see more of Samui, which can be organised through the owner, David.
David too cannot do enough for his guests. We had 5 staying and after a quick text (David provides you with a prepay cell phone!) to ask for a 5th lounger/sunbed he was there within 30 minutes.

Wonderful villa renting experience from start to finish. Owner very hands on, answers all queries very quickly and is on the island to react immediately to any issues. Lots of space in a very well designed villa. Ideally suited for large family groups. Excellent if a remote quiet location is required, but would recommend a car as it is a little isolated. We hadn't thought of this in advance but that was soon organised for us by the owner. Very useful to be supplied with a Thai mobile phone for the duration of your stay. Pool is not huge but perfect for cooling off. Cooking & BBQ facilities provided but it so cheap to eat locally why bother?

David was very keen to ensure our stay was a success...this is the second time we have rented one of his villas. It was a great home for two families coming from England and New Zealand to share a week togetherr. David organised a local woman to come in and prepare a Thai evening meal for us which was very enjoyable. Easy stroll down to the beach and had many fabulous meals at the local Fisherman's Outlet restaurant.

Booking was very easy and pain free.
From the moment we landed we were picked up and taken to the villa. First impression was wow. Villa was in a quiet location secure. The beach is less than a 3 miute walk.
Villa was very clean the had all the tv channels including sports from around the world. The outside pool was clean and very nice during the day in the hot sun and in the evening where you can swim under the stars. The jacuzzi was awesome and also having breakfast or dinner outside.
transport was arranged by David for the The Half Moon Party which we attended, airport transfer and also the drive to Phuket.
The overall experience was fantastic very easy to get around has lots of bars and resturants nearby. Anything we needed was provided by David.
It was a pleasure for my firends and I to stay there, ideal for a family or a group of friends.
Looking forward again next year.

we enjoyed a relaxing week at this villa, although the pool is small it is sufficient to cool off and we loved the jacuzzi. The house has all a good supply of electrical gadgets that you need and a washing machine that we found useful. Beds comfy and sheets and towels clean. The owner offers great information about local restaurants and places of interest to visit

Large villa in a good location on the best side of Koh Samui island. Nice restaurants and beach within walking distance of villa, Lamai (tesco lotus ) short journey away by car . (Worth renting car with villa..)
Villa has all the necessary facilities for a short or long stay with a good pool and sala that is not overlooked. -

We (2 of us)stayed at the Butterfly Garden Villa in January 2011. It is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting and is located in a peaceful neighborhood near to most amenities (restaurants, convenience store, beach, internet cafe). David Smart (our host) was a pleasure and could not do enough for us when called upon for any minor issues that arose. Butterfly Garden (or any of David's other villas for that matter) was a perfect home away from home and is ideal for those travellers looking for a relaxing holiday. I would not recommend it for people looking for a party style atmosphere.

There are a couple things I believe are really important in a advert for a resort/vacation home and that is the accuracy of the advert! We found this lovely villa on Dave's website and it was everything promised! We really didn't even need an initial tour as the pictures and video were exactly the way it is. I must admit we were a little apprehensive as we've had a bad experience in Bali renting a villa but we didn't have a single reason to worry once we arrived here. There are some "to die for" seafood/Thai restaurants within a very short distance (~700m) and one of them will even deliver.
Dave and staff were very nice and pleasant and were not intrusive one little bit. Thanks Dave for a wonderful time at your lovely villa and rest assured we will be back! -

Hallo zusammen!
David ist sehr freundlich und aufmerksam. Hat alles wunder bar funktioniert. Werden auch wieder bei David buchen und freuen uns schon auf das nächste mal. Kann man nur empfehlen, wir haben Haus, Auto, Moped alles zu einem vernünftigen Preis bekommen, was man von anderen angeboten nicht sagen kann.
Wir wurden pünktlich vom Flughafen abgeholt und auch wieder hingebracht. Auch die Tipps zum Essen gehen und ausflüge machen waren sehr hilfreich. Internet hat auch funktioniert per Wlan alles bestens. -

We were highly impressed with this villa. The villa is very spacious and has a lovely pool area with a bbq. The pool is a good size and has the added benefit of a jacuzzi. The owner made it extremely easy. He is great at keeping in contact with us from Thailand and met us on arrival at the villa as well had collecting us all from the airport to save on taxi costs. The owner was great at explaining how to get to close by destinations and organised rental of a jeep and motorbikes to be delivered to the front door before our arrival. The maid service was also excellent - making beds and taking away rubbish without being intrusive. It is in a great location nearby Lamai and Chewang but is set in lovely peaceful surroundings which i think is a huge positive in Koh Samui.
I cannot explain how beautiful the villa is with huge bedrooms (with aircon) and all on-suite.
With the quality of the villa, location and service provided by the owner i would certainly be using it on my next visit. -

We arrived on the ferry boat and were met by our host David at the ferry pier. He was a fantastic host throughout our two week stay, available to immediately answer any questions or to help us with any problems. Upon arriving to the villa, we were thrilled to walk in and know we'd be there for the next two weeks. It is spacious, quiet, private, tastefully decorated and appointed, and the private pool is just fantastic. It's a great set up for a family or for a group of a few families. We were there with our 1 year old daughter who loved every minute of it.
Location is great too- walking distance to the beach and to several nice restaurants. This is not the touristy area of the island, but that was fine with us. We rented bicycles to get around to some of the bigger beaches, which did get a little hot since we were there during May. If we return and stay at the villa, we'll probably rent a car (although car rental on the island is a bit spendy). You can also walk to the main road (about a 7 minute walk) and catch the public transport to get around the island.
All in all, you will love your time staying at the villa!!! -

Good location, very quiet. Owner very helpful and accommodating. Pool refreshing, unusual in our experience in hot destinations. Plenty of shade if required. Masses of room and free wifi. Perfect for our families needs.
