Great condo, close to beach, very kid friendly

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We have a family of 5 who stayed in the condo for two and a half weeks. It was perfect for the kids. The pool was fine, not a resort pool but great for the kids. Poipu Beach is our favorite beach and its a short walk from the condo. A few nearby Restaurants are also walking distance, the best is Brenneckes- mouth watering Ono Fish and Chips and Mai Tais.
The condo itself was beautiful and the master suite was the best part of the condo, very romantic. It was beautiful! I almost didn't want to write a review because I want it to myself every year and don't want it to be booked! Aloha!!

      Beautiful but frustrating!

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012

The location of the unit was excellent - right by walking paths to Brennecke beach and Poipu beach, close to the pool, hot tub, and tennis courts. We loved the afternoon sun on the main floor patio, and the view of the ocean and lush grounds. The location was quite noisy, however. The unit was beautiful inside but we were frustrated with one thing after another that wasn't working - the dryer quit, a panel in the stove was poorly repaired from an obviously prior problem and my husband ended up slashing his wrist badly, and the pillows were horrible! The cot we requested for a third child never came. But hey! We were in paradise!

The picture above is the one nice room in the condo. The second bedroom was ridiculous with 2 twin beds with nasty stained comforters crammed into a very small room with dirty curtains. The kitchen was OK and the dining room and living room were nothing to write home about. Also, beware -- no air conditioning! It was like a sauna in there most days. The patio had a great view of the ocean, but the furniture was stained and some chairs had missing webbing. There was no maid service the entire week and when I asked at the desk I was told that that was the reason for the washer and dryer in the condo -- so we could wash our own towels! Just what I want to do while on vacation in Hawaii...Also, check out was at 10am which is very early. I was able to get a "late checkout" at noon free of charge. Anything later than that was going to cost $88. I will not stay at this property again.

      Heavenly!

Left on 06/07/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We came to Kauai for a family wedding. Having lived on Kauai for 20 years, we knew we wanted to stay in the Poipu area and were familiar with Poipu Kai. The Kahala condo was situated beautifully on a huge lawn with a lovely view of the ocean from the lanai. The condo was quiet and peaceful even though there were neighbors all around us in other condos. There were 4 of us and there was plenty of space for all of us. The bathrooms were lovely, the large bedroom breezy and cool, the smaller bedroom a bit cramped. The kitchen was great to work in and fairly well equipped as we cooked in a lot. The knives could have been sharper! There was a minor ant problem when we arrived but it was quickly dealt with by the friendly and efficient housekeeping staff. The living area was comfortable and relaxing and everything was clean and uncluttered. It was great to have the washer/dryer in the condo. The grounds of Poipu Kai are always so well kept and lush. Our two week stay at Kahala was heavenly!

Building six is by far the best view in Kahala. Our family owns 621. We rented this ground floor two bedroom for extra space during the homeowners meeting. Great unit. Nice updates. Second bedroom has two twin beds that can be easily moved together to form a very comfortable king if you are not into sleeping Ricky and Lucy style. We Will definitely use this unit again. And if it ever hits the market, we will buy it.

      Great Location, Tremendous Value

Left on 04/11/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We could not have hoped for more in renting this condo. The location is walking distance from three beaches - one swimming, one snorkeling, and one body-boarding. It is centrally located for accessing nearly everything on the island - the North Shore is a bit of a drive mid-day due to traffic, but everything else (canyon, beaches, rivers, boat marinas) is very easy to get to. The condo itself was perfect for our needs - very clean, great master bedroom, separate bath for the guest bedroom. Most beach needs (towels, chairs, boards, umbrellas, etc) are provided. We highly recommend these condos. No disappointments at all.
