The house is located on the island of Korcula, in the town of the same name. The island is part of the southern Dalmatian archipelago, and is approximately half way between the cities of Dubrovnik and Split. Korcula has a mild Mediterranean climate and enjoys approximately 3000 hours of sunshine per year. The island is unspoiled with an abundance of secluded places to swim in its clear sea, and it is the most densely forested of the Croatian islands. Korcula is also a famous wine and olive oil making district. Korcula Old Town is a miniature Dubrovnik, only cheaper and with less tourists. It is renowned for its history and architecture, and for being the birth place of Marco Polo.
Regular bus services travel around the island and ferry services connect Korcula to surrounding islands and the mainland. (Bus and ferry terminals are less than a 5 minute walk away.) Everything in the old town is within a short walking distance with the center of town just 70m from the house.
Go to nearby beaches or travel to secluded ones to enjoy swimming in crystal clear waters. Walk the ancient cobbled lanes of the historic town where Marco Polo lived. Join in walking tours, boating excursions, snorkeling and diving or windsurfing. The closest restaurant, the family friendly Pizza Amphora, is 30m away at the end of the lane or dine at one of many other restaurants, most with magnificent views to the mainland. Hire a boat, car, scooter or bicycle and explore the greenest island in Croatia visiting the many towns and villages.
