Description from the owner

Consider to make the silversmith's atelier your home away from home. The large dining-room/kitchen was the blacksmith’s workshop years ago. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, microwave, stove with oven to cook your gourmet meals. There is also a gas stove with oven on your terrace, so you can cook outside.

The bathroom is built into the old goat stable, the centuries old stone vault accommodates a modern shower.

A unique staircase leads to a large bright bedroom/sitting-room with a beautiful view onto the valley below, ideal for watching the sun set. On display are the silversmith’s tools, samples of his jewelry...Read more

Wonderful corner of rural France, few tourists but lots to see a

Left on 12/30/2012 for a stay in September 2012

What a wonderful place to stay as a base for exploring rural France and local markets. The hosts were gracious, friendly and very helpful. It began with a welcome dinner on arrival, all local foods, sitting in the garden on a lovely early autumn evening with people from all parts of the world, overlooking a valley with a 15th century village rising behind. You are in the foothills of the alps - drive one way it's flat, the other takes you over the hills to little walled towns and superb local markets selling cheeses, olives, pottery , bags and much more! The local patisserie shop is a delight with many cakes to sample and local wineries are close by to taste test your way. The accommodation is magical but with everything you could want to cook up a meal from your market finds or just relax on the terrasse with a wine and olives and watch the sun set over the valley. Easy to get to avignon, Aix or Marseille but plenty to see and do locally at Grignon or Dieulafit. Highly recommend - would go back in a heartbeat!

Walks, wine, dine, relax...alas, always too short a visit!

Left on 02/03/2012 for a stay in May 2011

We have stayed in this unit for several years now, previously at "La Petite Maison", also owned by our gracious hosts, Andrew and Ulrike. The unit is well appointed on two levels: first level with bath, dining area and kitchen with access to private patio area; second level with bedroom and sitting area; both levels with gorgeous panoramic views to the west and lovely sunsets. A laundry room is housed separately on the premises. The property is a one kilometer walk each way to the lower village for groceries, and bread, and the weekly market with cheese, fish and others commodities. We arrive and leave by train from Montelimar...and travel on foot to neighboring villages for walks and local restaurants. After a trip or two into the neighboring wine villages, thanks to our hosts, we are content to sit, read, and drink our wine! While the weather can be unpredictable during May, it has not deterred us. Our annual visit begins and ends with a finely home-cooked meal with our hosts, Andrew and Ulrike! What more could one ask for? C'est la vie!
