I highly recommend staying at The Jungle Eco Resort and if I am

Left on 08/12/2011 for a stay in June 2011

I would like to start by saying that Richard and his staff were amazing, the hiking trails were beautiful and the family and I had a wonderful time.

I traveled with my husband and two children ages fourteen and twelve. At check in I was disappointed that there was not a TV in the room, just than my twelve year old son said “why would you want to sit in the room and watch TV, when we could go explore the grounds and play in the river, we watch enough TV at home.”

On our four day, three night adventure we were able to go zip lining, white water rafting, hike in the Pico Bonito Rain Forest, visit the beach (which is just a 30 min. ride form the lodge) and visit the butterfly museum in La Ceiba.

The room we stayed in had a full kitchen, when making my reservation it was vary important so I could buy food and make it, in order to save on money. The first night of our stay I treated the family to dinner at Pico Bonito restraint located next to the pool. The food was amazing, big props to the chef.

I highly recommend staying at The Jungle Eco Resort and if I am ever to return that is were my family and I will be staying.

A place to get away and relax

Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in May 2011

After hours of picking and choosing i finally stumbled upon Villas Pico Bonito from trip advisor and i must say it was the best choice for anyone looking to get away for a couple of nights or even a week (I chose the week stay), We stayed at the Cangrejal River Lodge cause we had 5 people in our party...Generally pictures are touched up and they sometimes never look like what they are supposed to be but this place was every bit of what you see in the photos...Located off a dirt road 4.5 miles from La Ceiba it takes you on a nice ride along the Rio Cangrejal...Be careful of that dirt road there are many man made speed bumps...A very nice place to stay with amazing scenery and beautiful pool that is so blue it looks like the blue waters of the Carribean...The staff there is very friendly and always helpful if u have questions...A definite must stay place to get away from it all..

      unique and beautiful lodging

Left on 02/07/2011 for a stay in January 2011

My husband and I and another couple enjoyed 5 wonderful days in the roomy Ceiba Tree Lodge. Richard and ana have created a beautiful place to stay. We have never had accomodations quite like it! Great birding, beautiful, expansive gardens, well cared for by a friendly staff. The kitchen is well-stocked with implements, and cooking there is great fun! Richard and ana are kind, helpful, and know how to get things done in Honduras. I highly recommend Villas Pico Bonito.

An Inspiring Four Days in a Beautiful Jungle Paradise

Left on 08/29/2010 for a stay in August 2010

We just returned from two and half weeks in Honduras in august 2010. We spent four invigorating days in the Cangrejal River Lodge (Villas Pico Bonito). We had only planned on staying three days but couldn't pry ourselves away!
Richard and his wife anna built the place and their love for it comes through in every detail. We opted to stay in the Ceiba Tree Lodge and would heartily recommend it. It is a masterpiece. It's like living in a comfortable tree house surrounded by the sights and sounds of the jungle but with all the comforts of home. We fell in love with the place immediately! The Ceiba Tree and the other lodges are scattered around a compound that is a botanical garden of tropical trees and flowers. There is also a crystal clear infinity pool set above the river and the rainforest beyond. We spent ample time in the pool as well as in the warm Rio Cangrejal flowing by below.
After relaxing by the pool on our first day we hiked to the El Bejuco Waterfall and soaked in the spray of the sixty meter falls. The entrance to the trail is over a suspension bridge a short walk from the lodge.
The next day we went rafting on the Rio Cangrejal, a trip that Richard helped us organize. That was a thrilling and beautiful ride that also included some cliff jumping.
On our last full day we rode the local bus to a small town called Las Mangas and set off on another hike to the village of La Muralla and some fabulous swimming holes.
Richard and anna are friendly and helpful hosts. Richard arranged transport for us from the Roatan ferry to his place and back to La Ceiba for our bus connection. We never missed not having our own transportation. Richard will offer advice or will help arrange adventures in the area, or you may just wish to stay close to the pool and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful place.

      A beautiful, wonderful place

Left on 05/13/2010 for a stay in April 2010

My family and I stayed in the Ceiba Tree Lodge for 4 nights, and loved every minute. The staff was exceptional, the location was perfect (beautiful view of the Rio Cangrejal and the nearby waterfall, and only a 10 minute walk to great hiking trails), the food was delicious, the pool was beautiful and clean, and the host and his family (Richard, Ana, and Mildred) were gracious, kind and very sincerely wonderful people. Lucy was the most gentle, laid-back mastiff I have ever met - we all loved her. We are so glad we travelled out of La Ceiba to stay in this area, because the beauty of Pico Bonito National Park was worth the extra distance. Thanks to everyone at the eco resort!
