I have never stayed in a Lustron Home before. You have probably never heard of a Lustron Home. It was the best place I have ever stayed in La Crosse.
The Lustron Home is made of steel that has an impervious coating. The entire home could be built within 72 hours and it was delivered via 1 large truck. The home was designed with a small family in mind. The video and book were very informative.
As for the accommodations, I thought it was just fine. The bed was comfy, the kitchen was well stocked, and the rental car stayed in the garage. We stayed in February during a blizzard. The sidewalks and garage were cleared before we left. The house was warm and fun. There were two bedrooms and multiple options in the living room/dining room.
The view out the window of Grand Dad's Bluff is great! Barb(the owner) was great to work with. The wireless internet was not always reliable. I would stay here again.Response from Barbara Janssen - 04/22/2013

Very happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Bluff View House. I was sorry to hear when you were leaving that the wireless internet was not reliable. Since your visit, I switched internet service providers and increased the speed from 10 Mb to 30 Mb. Security on the router has been increased as well to try eliminate non-guests from using the WiFi. These steps appear to have taken care of the reliability issue. One exception: a squirrel chewed threw the wire on the pole this weekend.

Have had the pleasure to stay at Bluffview House each Thanksgiving and Christmas for the past several years. We now feel like we're visiting an old favorite friend each visit. Barb has made this house a wonderful, comfortable place to visit. She has thought of every possible necessity for her guests. We look forward to many future stays in this delightful and historic home.

Left on 09/16/2010 for a stay in September 2010
This is our 4th time staying in the Bluff View house (twice with my family and twice for a girls weekend getaway). For the price of a hotel room, we were able to stay in the comfort of a home. My daughter loved having her own bedroom. And we loved being able to cook our meals in the kitchen and grill out too! Fresh veggies in the garden were an added plus! All the extras Barb puts into making sure that we have all that we need during our stay is so appreciated! I am sure we will be back again next year!

The reservation and check-in process was very easy. Upon check-in, the Bluffview House was very clean and inviting. The home is provided with cable, wireless internet access, and other nice touches including an "honor system" for snacks. The home is well-maintained both inside and out.
In addition to the home, there are bicycles for use, and yard games for the kids. The location is perfect for visting Myrick Park, walking/riding through the marsh area (good trails), and visiting LaCrosse State University. Downtown Lacrosse is within a few minutes as is the Mississippi river front.
It is nice to have a home to stay in versus a hotel/motel where you feel cramped and crowded. The home provides a quite, relaxing location to bring the family. Will definitely be back again. -

Lakeville, MNComfortable Space away from Home
Left on 09/07/2010 for a stay in March 2002
The Bluffview House is a clean, comfortable place to stay, especially with extended family and with teenagers, both of which we have done. Barb Janssen has seen to it that the house has all the comforts of home while still providing a living space that everyone can relax in and enjoy. While a bit more expensive than renting a hotel room, when more space is required and a more relaxed environment is desired, the Bluffview House fills the need nicely.
