To those thinking about renting this unit I would provide mixed reviews. First let me say that the people at Destino are great to work with when there was a problem they were very responsive, check in was great and check out the same. The Punta Esmeralda development is a beautiful residential community, very quiet, well maintained. Mar 2 unit is at the far end of the development which means there is a bit of a walk to the restaurant, fitness centre and tennis courts. The units in that area were the first built at Punta Esmeralda. Mar 2 is in desperate need of a refurbishment - it is showing its wear and there are numerous things in need of repair. It is basic in its furnishings compared to other units we saw. I think it is a great design but I wouldn't go back until I was assured that it had been renovated.

I thought Mar 2 was great! The view can not be beat and the rooms were very nice. It was also very nice having a private plunge pool to enjoy.
The shared pools were a nice treat to be able to walk to as well, to see the whole property.
When we arrived to the room, it was very well maintained, clean and well stocked. I would definately go back to Mar 2, and recommend it to anyone that is traveling in the area. -

Mar2 was the perfect spot to enjoy a week away from an East Coast winter! The views from the open plan kitchen/dining/living room are breath-taking and the sliding glass doors allowed us to enjoy the magnificent weather. The large open room serves as a wonderful gathering place for family and friends while providing easy access to the pool terrace. The three bedrooms with ensuite bathroom are generously sized and very private.
The staff and services they provided were excellent. The staff is knowledgeable, very friendly, and spoke perfect English (a bonus for me!).
All in all Mar2 made our trip to Mexico extra special and memorable. I have every intention of going back next year, or sooner if I can! -

We stayed in Mar 2 for 6 days in February, 2012. It's even better than the pictures! So relaxing and such beautiful surroundings! It was quiet, well-maintained, kitchen stocked appropriately (the only suggestion is to have written information that translates metric measures to the U.S. equivalent, and also instructions in English on how to use the oven. I figured it out, but it is quite different than what I am used to).
Comfortable beds, tastefully decorated, just lovely! Nicole and her staff are awesome!!
