A few minutes drive away from the beuatiful Le Morne beach,The Rusty Pelican is located in the quiet fishing village of La Gaulette. We have 4 private self catering apartments available each with own balcony with a view or a terrace with a garden. The kitchens are well equipped and the beds are super king size with pull out couches available in the large open plan living area of the 2 downstairs apartments.Each apartment measures not less than 70 m2 and are tastefully furnished in light bright colours. The fishing village of La Gaulette is nestled at the foothills of the mountains overlooking the Indian Ocean and the turquoise lagoon.When you stay with us you will have the opportunity to experience more of Mauritian life than staying on the beach in a hotel. The excellent local supermarket is around the corner and the main street of La Gaulette with a big variety of different restaurants is within walking distance.You will find the locals easy going and very friendly.From here you can head south to Souillac or into the mountains to Chamarel,and the rum and tea factories.To the north are many trails in the Black River Gorges and the Tamarin Waterfalls.For kiters and wind surfers (and learners!!) this is the perfect location to get to ride the waves of One Eye at Le Morne Beach which is a few kilometers away.Tamarin Beach and the Tamarina Golf Course are 15 minutes by car. There are boat trips with snorkeling and picnic on 'Coconut Island' that leave daily from the jetty close by.Parking is available and we can help with car rentals and airport transfers.

Große Räume, viel Licht und Platz haben uns gleich beeindruckt. Wir hatten appartement in EG mit Schlafzimmer, einem grossen Salon mit Küche und WC/Duschraum. Besitzerin hat alles perfect für unseren ankunft vorbereitet: das Kinderbett, der Kindersitz für auto, den ersten Einkauf und sogar kleinen Telefon mit Karte gehörten zu unerwarteten aber angenehmen Extras! In der Woche wird täglich saubergemacht, man bekommt frische Wäsche und Tücher. Man hat Swimmingpool, was für Familien mit Kinder sehr gut ist, da kleine Kinder gerne im Swimmingpool planschen. Unsere Tochter hat sogar dort schwimmen gelernt! Fürs ausgehen, für diverse aktivitäten vor Ort hat uns Besitzerin sehr gut beraten! Für 3 wunderschöne Wochen, die wir in La Gaulette in diesem Haus verbracht haben, möchten wir uns bei ihr vom ganzen Herzen bedanken!

We are staying at the rusty pelican in la gaulette at the moment. We are here for 3 weeks. What a nice place! The owner, Corinna, will do anything to make your stay comfortable. We have met the other guests that stay in the upstairs appartments and have been socializing with them ever since. Nice big bbq's, small poolarea, private terrace with furniture, big rooms and a lovely bathroom, fridge full of breakfast/lunch items when you arrive and the rental car was already waiting for us outside in the parking lot. I can not find anything wrong about this place, it is just perfect. It is quiet in the night, only 200 m from a big supermarket and several local restaurants are withing 5-10 min walking distance. We are here for kite surfing and le morne beach is only 7 min by car. We have been to the kite club at beach club C in Bel Ombre many times (25 min drive), where you can use the pool, beach, sunliners, towels and restaurant for 400 mru pp (half price is you are a guest at the kite club). All in all a wondfull holiday destination. We can warmly recommend the rusty pelican. Thank you for a great stay Corinna. Greetings from Dorien and Theo

Rusty pelican is an amazing place to stay. The apartments are big and clean, it has everything you need and you can relax here. It has a nice outdoor area where you can read you book, have a BBQ or just enjoy the sun after a long day out.
You have the beach close and just 2 min walk a nice supermarket
Corinna, will be your amazing host, She does everything to make your stay perfect. From air port pick up service, local guiding, hosting BBQ for you and your neighbours, and surprise you with fruit. Corinna is the girl.
I am for sure going back here soon. Thanks Rusty Pelican for making my stay in Mauritius amazing. -

Good value for money . We knew it was cheap because it was not on the beach , but apart from that it is 5 star . Huge cool apartment , comfy bed , own bathroom and huge tropical garden with a lovely pool . We did hire a car ( recommend you do ) and got to the beaches like that . Do eat the local food , don't mess about with cooking !!!
Was a great holiday and have recommended to other friends . Also language is no problem .

The service was very good the owner was always on hand to help. Our apartment felt like home. The only down side we can think of was the location, it is in a residential aeria so there are some dogs barking at night... Over all wonderful and the beaches are simply the best.

We had booked somewhere else but were totally disappointed...it was misrepresented on the internet.Some of the guys from the kiting school told us to have a look at The Rusty Pelican.What a pleasure!! Clean and lovely fresh decor.We were welcomed with fruit and flowers,the bedding and towels were changed regularly and we had our own kitchen with fridge and everything.Even a small garden for ourselves overlooking the pool.The owner,Corinna lives on the next door property and was always available and helped sort out diving and other things we wanted to do.La Gaulette is a bit off the regular track so it took us a day to do the North but the tranquility of home from home made it worthwhile!
