the location was by far he best thing about this accommodation. the bathroom is in need of a complete renovation. i had to buy sheets and pillowcases for the bed sofa when our daughter visited and the comforter on the main bed was in a sad state.

I loved our visit to La Jolla and staying in this quaint cottage. The location was wonderful as we could walk to the beach, to the restaurants and great shops nearby. And the property manager was awesome with a welcome phone call on the day of arrival! We had a great time!

Perfect location! Steps from downtown La Jolla and so close to Shell Beach--the best of both worlds. Very cute vintage beach cottage. You have to walk up stairs to get to the cottage so if stairs are an issue you should rethink. Good value!

The property was in a great location and was generally well appointed. We had three people there for several days and the sleeping arrangements worked well. The kitchen was a bit dirty when we arrived and the freezer was in need of defrosting to the point where it was unusable. Parking was a bit confusing and if we had arrived after the attendant had left we would not have been able to figure it out. Clearer directions as to the location of the place to swipe your card and how the gate worked would have been useful. Other than that everything was fine.

The cottage at #8003 Ocean was perfect for us. It was ideally located just feet from a number of casual restaurants: Smashburger, The Spot, Jose's etc. We really enjoyed having "The Living Room" Cafe so close. Their coffee was as good as Starbucks and without the wait. Their menu of breakfast and lunch items made them our fall back place when we were unsure of where to eat. A beautiful oceanside park was just a block away and on Sunday they had a Blues concert free for the asking. All we had to do was bring our beach chairs. The cottage had great WiFi which we used with our iPod iTouches to scan the area for things to do and cafe menus. It also had a washer and dryer, a nice kitchen and night sea breezes to put us to sleep. The weather went from the low 60s to the mid 70s which was very refreshing for a couple of native Phoenicans. All in all it was just the respite we needed as an escape from the desert summer heat.

The location is the only thing this property has going for it. For starters, the bed was awful, you could feel the springs in the mattress. I don't understand how they could not spend a few hundred dollars and invest in a good mattress so people could sleep comfortably while on vacation!!! My husband's back hurt terribly after the first day, we almost considered moving to a hotel. Also the bathroom was tiny, and the outlet is hidden behind the cabinet so you cannot even plug in your hairdryer because it was inaccessible. The floors were very old and creaked with every step you took, so that was very annoying. You can also hear everything and everyone outside the unit, so if your looking for peace and quite this is definitely not the spot! They also failed to mention that Ocean Lane is a staircase not a street so we drove around for 20 min trying to locate the property in the dark! They also didn't leave us a parking pass or black book like they said they would so we had to pay for our own parking. Definitely would not recommend.

Upon receiving this review, we immediately replaced the mattress with a brad new high end and very comfortable mattress to insure that no future guests encountered this same problem. We appreciate these guests bringing this to our attention and would have addressed it during their stay had we known it was an issue at the time. In addition, a parking pass was provided, but unfortunately these guests were unable to locate it. We always have employees standing by 24/7 so that we can immediately address any issues that our customers have during their stay. It is unfortunate that these guests did not bring these items to our attention immediately as we would have made sure to address them right away.

The location is perfect, with shops, dining, and the beach within walking distance. You could see the ocean from the bay window. It was beautiful! We woke up in the morning to the sound of the ocean and birds chirping.
What hurt this stay for us was the painful mattress. The springs bit into our backs and made popping noises every time we moved. Our backs hurt every morning and we did not sleep well. The sofa looked tempting, but this was an anniversary trip so we stuck together for better or worse.
The rest of the house was clean. The kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and dryer were nice. The electrical outlet in the bathroom was inaccessible but there were others available. It was nice not wasting time searching for a parking space. We walked everywhere.
Despite our close proximity to everything there was very little traffic noise. It ws fairly peaceful and quiet. This is the perfect place for a couple wanting a getaway, but we won't stay here again due to the most uncomfortable bed we've ever slept on. We loved the cottage. Bathroom was not very clean...mold on the shower curtains and the bath tub mat was filthy. I replaced it with a new one. The bath mat was also dirty and I had to wash it. There is a gassy smell from the gas stove in kitchen. Not sure why that is. Such a nice property and overall it was lovely in spite of the bathroom.

I have stayed in the cottage before, this was the first time for my wife. Great location but we found it to be unclean (bathroom, shower, dishes). I like the place but it didn't live up to what my wife was thinking it was going to be. We also found that the phone did not work. The bed was also bad, for the cost all this should have been better.

The location of this cottage is the best thing about it. The size is a bit misleading from the pictures. The fridge is a dorm size (so can't do more than a day's shopping)and no place to even plug in your hairdryer in the bathroom. You have to walk up the stairs pass a couple other cottages and enter their side yard to get to the outdoor laundry. Dishwasher didn't work so meant we had to do dishes by hand while on vacation, ok but not ideal. More than 2 people would be VERY tight.
Very rustic, but close to beach and town. -

You have such a cute little place. It was a little tough to locate at first as the GPS wanted me to drive up a flight of stairs. It's a great place for a couple to spend a week at the beach. Or for me, a business traveler to enjoy a change of scenery from drab airport hotels.

Great (wonderful)location, charming cottage but needs much better heating, some paint, cleaning of windows,and improvement of the little alleyway on the side of the house. Also, some windows do not open. Otherwise, charming!
