Dog beds and bowls also are available on request. Just 2 blocks from our beach cottage is a wonderful dog park with hiking and biking trails that are great for both kids and dogs.
Doggy Daycare is available for just $30 per day if you plan to take in one of the many San Diego area sights (SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park) and can't take your dog. In Doggy Daycare, your dog will be well looked after by a dog care expert and will enjoy a fun-filled day in a large fully-fenced yard.

Our beach cottage is only 3 blocks from Windansea Beach-- an easy 5 minute walk. Windansea Beach is well-known for its surf, as well as its beautiful sunsets. Take a leisurely stroll into the very heart of the village of La Jolla, which offers the finest in restaurants and shopping.
The California Cottage is also just 1 mile from the Cove in La Jolla, considered to be one of the most beautiful beaches in California. Also nearby is the famous Casa Beach (also known as the Children’s Pool Beach) where harbor seals and California sea lions sunbathe on the beach year-round!
Within walking distance of our La Jolla beach home are Busy Bee Bagels, Su Casa Mexican Restaurant, a convenience store, and many other child friendly restaurants.
The California Cottage is located within the La Jolla school district and is just blocks from La Jolla High where there are state-of-the-art tennis courts and a year-round public swimming pool.
Or take part in one of the many annual La Jolla events: La Jolla Gallery and Wine Walk, La Jolla Rough Water Swim, La Jolla Christmas Parade, or the La Jolla Motorcar Classic.
Getting to our La Jolla beach home is easy. We’re just 20 miles from the San Diego International Airport and close to many popular tourist attractions such as the Gaslamp District, Sea World, Legoland, the San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park and Balboa Park.
While you’re in the area, consider visiting other Southern California attractions. Disneyland is 1.5 hours away in Orange County or visit Universal Studios, Beverly Hills, and Hollywood in Los Angeles—just a 2 hour drive from La Jolla.

In six years of spending summer vacation in the San Diego area, this is by far the best. House is a little older than some rentals, but has everything we wanted. Wonderful neighborhood with lots of nice people and dogs. Great backyard for relaxing and the dog was in heaven. Already planning next year's stay.

Omaha NERelaxing time in La Jolla

The cottage was the perfect size for our family of five (two adults, three children; ages four, three and seven months).
Unlike many rentals in the San Diego area, this home provided us a sit down table, in two different locations (the dining area and the patio), which is crucial with little ones. We were able to cook and eat in as much as we wanted. It also had a back patio with a small yard that allowed our energized children to use during our down time.
The location of the cottage is perfect. It is a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to one of the many La Jolla beaches, and an easy five minute drive to the other "main" beaches. We were able to sleep with the windows open and not be awaken by outside noises (cars, people, etc. which will happen in other SD beach neighborhoods). Again that is an important quality with small children. The cottage is also centrally located that a 10-15 minute drive got us to Mission Beach, Pacific Beach and the 5.
Renting through La Jolla Vacation Rentals was very easy and professional.
The only reason I gave the rental four out of five stars was that some of the home amenities could be upgraded. A newer stove that had different heat settings would have been nice. The picnic table outside was old, the paint chipped and gave the kids slivers. The dining room table was pretty unstable. Since we were a family of four (the babe in the high chair - that they provided), we were able to push the table against the wall and eat on the other three sides, which seemed to stabilize it more.
Besides those three small things, we loved our stay at the cottage and would definitely recommend the place to other families/people. We look forward to our return and will explore the other places La Jolla Vacation Rentals have as well.
