Pamona, CA, United StatesLocation great house needs TLC .
Left on 08/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012
Location is great but for the area and rental rate the home needs a lot of TLC. It smelled moldy some of the showers didn't work properly and the windows didn't have screens making it difficult to keep out all the flies. It was a very hid week and not having A/C was uncomfortable. Location is awesome but again the house needs work.

Scottsdale, AZ, United StatesGreat location but very tired house.

The location of this property is outstanding. right on the beach with great views and easy walking distance to shops and restaurants in La Jolla. The property was clean and functional but is very dated and in severe need of an update, particularly bathrooms and kitchen. Also only one tv is a little skimpy for a house this large. The property is advertised as capable of sleeping 10 to 12 but it is really only comfortable for 7 to 8. despite the shortcomings our stay was very enjoyable and the property manager was very responsive to all our needs.

The house has GREAT potential to be a fantastic rental, one that I might even rent again, if it had met basic requirements. Here is my list of what the house needs:
Fully outfitted kitchen - good knives that actually cut, a blender, mixer, dishes that fit in dishwasher, full set of silverware. There were no placemats, napkins, tupperware, small pan for eggs, no plastic ware, the fridge is missing parts so it has limited storage. The dishwasher doesn't clean properly.
There were NO curtains in one of the bedrooms.
No screens on the windows and terrible bugs/flies
Towels are ratty and OLD
Beds HARD and noisy
Pillows were old and hard (Tim brought new ones)
Only 1 TV in the entire house!
No sound system or even iPod docking station for music
Many lights were missing bulbs
Tim was responsive and brought over many things to make us more comfortable.
I just think if you want to rent it to repeat tenants then take the time and spend the money to fully equip the kitchen and buy GOOD bedding, pillows and towels. Put in a couple more TV's and a small sound system and I'd have been MUCH happier. Those things go a LONG way with families like us who don't expect everything to be perfect but certain requirements make the vacation more enjoyable. -

Left on 07/03/2012 for a stay in June 2012
House was lacking amenities for the cost and was in definite need of some detailed cleaning and maintenance.View was excellent but outdoor furniture was in need of updating, uncomfortable and dirty. Tim helped a lot but owner needs to put some money into house.

San Francisco, CA, United StatesFantastic Location, Older House
Left on 06/11/2012 for a stay in June 2012
The house is literally across the street from the ocean--you can hear the waves from your bedroom. We bbqed, spent time on the front lawn with our small children (though the lawn is smaller than it appears in the pictures), and walked down to the beach. The beach in front of the house is mostly for surfers, as there is not much sand there, esp during high tide, but is lovely nonetheless.
The images of the house present an idealized picture, though. It appears that the house has not been updated in years. One of the beds creaks so badly that it is virtually unusable. The kitchen could be better equipped--no drying rack for dishes, some basic cooking equipment missing, etc. As for the rest of the house, time and the salt air is taking its toll. If it gets chilly, you need to use space heaters because the central heat doesn't work upstairs. One of the doors to the back patio doesn't open. The one TV in the house is small and the DVD player can't handle blu-ray discs. The list goes on with minor annoyances like this.
The layout of the house is also a bit funky: there is only one bathroom downstairs and you must walk through a bedroom to get to it; also the second downstairs bedroom literally only opens onto an outdoor patio--you cannot get to the bedroom from inside the house.
Lastly, if you need a pack-and-play or a high chair, the company charges you a fee for each of them (equivalent to what you could buy a new one for). Also (and I have no idea if this is standard for VRBO), we had to pick up soap/shampoo at the local store.
I am being a bit picky because this is obviously an expensive rental and, as such, I had higher expectations. -

Great House with workable floor plan and great location. Kitchen is outdated and minimally outfitted, but is functional. Windows and doors are worn out and need just some maintenance. We had a wonderful time and overall this house has a great feel!!

What an incredible vacation home! It had everything we needed to enjoy our La Jolla vacation. Unbeatable ocean views and location, nice spread out floor plan, nicely furnished and fully equipped, and our favorite was the private back yard and front yard where we enjoyed numerous sunset BBQ's while watching the surfers at Windansea Beach. Thanks for an incredible vacation!

Over all great. Upon arrival, never was given a house key. Didn't even realize i needed one until end of vacation when I was asked to return it. Unfortunately, mother-inlaw broke her ankle in the house first day on slippery wooden stairs. After pins and surgery, we were generally house bound for a week. Called to ask concierge Tim about wheel chair rental. Talked to him. He never called me back?? We figured it out our selves.. Some outlets and light switches in house need repairing.

Wow! We loved this house. Everyday we woke up to the most amazing views of WIndansea Beach...what a great way to start the day! We spent most of our afternoons in the grassy front yard watching the surfers, BBQ'ing, and then enjoying the sunset. The house was so comfortable and offered everything we needed for a memorable vacation. Thanks!

The only thing I'd add is that there's no recycling bin and we are meticulous recyclers at home. Thus we spent a week in guilt as we dumped all glass, plastic and paper into the landfill. If recycling facility is added, we'll definitely be back.

Tulsa, OklahomaGreat shape, old villa, with perfect family and good party layou
Left on 08/01/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Right at the beach; we could not have asked for a better location...even the little road between us and the beach served us well as it kept all that sand out of our casa on the shore. We slept with the veranda doors open and felt rested, in 72 degree nights, while it back home it was 102 degrees. Beds are amazingly firm and good. Kids did the beach every day. Conveniences like a very functional outdoor grill, showers by the house, many tanning lawn areas, beautiful and large living/dining area for parties, great large and fully stocked kitchen, super powered and sized washer and dryer (all soaps, everything, thoughtfully put there), a "I'll do anything to make you happy with a smile" concierge at a text's notice, even at 2:00 am on a Sunday morning (we are so ashamed and he was so nice)...describes this place. Go em! We'll be back.
