This was an ideal arrangement for my husband ,myself and son.
We chose the location as it was near our daughter's apt in La Jolla, Ca, only a few blocks away from the beach too.It had excellent kitchen , dining & living room space. The size of the Master was fine. The 2nd bdm is a loft space to the right at the top of the upstairs. It doesn't have complete privacy but was still fine for our 26 yr old son.The only full 2nd floor bathroom is small . I would advise having the hallway window open to provide more air circulation in general. The steam from the bathroom set the smoke detector off 1 morning ! During the hot monthes in this region ,I'm sure you will need to use all fans that are provided in the house. There is no air conditioners.
Think the exterior of the the cute Victorian gingerbread style' could use some touch up paint, over all .I'd recommend it to a couple or young family w/ 1 or 2 youngsters.

Great location (very short walk to the beach, quick drive down the street to everything in La Jolla), a beautiful neighborhood just to talk a walk around. Very unique, historic house, it felt very quaint and memorable and relaxed. Despite the age of the house, staying there was still quite comfortable. Kitchen and bathroom are both small, but they worked for us. Very close to the other two houses on the property, so while it feels private indoors, the outdoors patio areas are actually quite open to the neighbors and to the street. Overall, we just wish we had more time to spend in La Jolla. We had a nice romantic trip for the two of us, but I also think the house would be a lot of fun for a family with kids.

Cozy home in a great location

The Yellow Cottage was just right for our family of 3 with our son in the second bedroom. The 2 nights my mother-in-law stayed over, we set up an air mattress in the living room it was a bit cramped. We cooked many of our meals in the little kitchen and on the grill and dined outdoors. Its very close to the other two cottages, but they were vacant while we were there so we had lots of privacy. We could or bike to the beach, which is beautiful or village which has 2 yoga studios, many restaurants, and plenty of shipping. Most things in the bedrooms were neatly organized but a little untidy in the living area and kitchen, which could use a better selection of pots and utensils. Overall, it was a great experience.
The perfect home away from home!

We loved the yellow cottage! The location was perfect-very close to the beach and everything else! The cottage was very cute, warm and comfortable! The grounds were well kept and very relaxing! I would definitely recommend anyone staying at the yellow cottage. The service was so friendly and accommodating that it make our whole vacation experience smooth and enjoyable. We really look forward to our next stay!

We rented both the Yellow Cottage and Heritage place to accommodate our entire family for a week's visit to San Diego. The set-up was perfect with the front door of the yellow cottage only a few steps away from the back door of Heritage House. The baby monitor allowed us to put some of the kids to bed and still hear them next door.
The location of the houses was great! The house was clean and well supplied. It was great that there was a washing machine right in the house.
However, there were a few mainenance issues with the house. It "rained" in the kitchen when the shower was on. Unbeknowst to us, this was not a new problem and it was alleviated by having the drain plug in a certain position. However, this should not be a continual problem. Secondly, one of the shutters kind of fell apart when we opened it. We were able to fix it, but again this is a sign of some easily resolved maintenance issues. Both were reported.
Overall, it was a great space and we were happy with our week in the two houses.
Cute House-needs cleaning

The house was adorable and it was in the most perfect locations. We could easily walk to the beach and it was close to restaurants. The rental company was efficient. The house was not clean. The shutters in the house were filthy. When I opened the shutters the window sills hadn't been cleaned since the house was built. There were cobwebs all over the ceiling.
