Description from the owner
It's The End of the Trail, both literally and figuratively.
It's where you walk/hike/bike hundreds of miles of stunning desert trails and return to mature palm trees above a saltwater heated pool. Where you sit out on the kitchen terrace and throw the ball for your pup while dinner is simmering in a fully stocked kitchen. The End of the Trail is where you lay in a Costa Rican hammock and look out to mountains, lemon trees and desert birds flying by. It's where you let a waterfall crash on your shoulders before taking a break to watch the game in the private poolside cabana. A quick hot tub (is there such a thing?) and a little stargazi...Read more

Additional Location Information
Very very private! No neighbors on one side, and no neighbors across the street where the mountains start, you feel like you are off on a desert retreat, yet you are only minutes to the fantastic shopping along highway 111 that stretches from Indio to Palm Springs.
Hit the Saturday farmer's market in the historic La Quinta village 5 minutes away and bring home fresh strawberries, citrus, avocados and other delicious treats, and eat at the six person dining set in the cabana under two fans, or seasonally a patio heater.
La Quinta Cove hiking trails are literally at your doorstep. From short hikes on well groomed trails to rugged hikes high in the Santa Rosa mountains, including to a beautiful palm oasis, you'll see many different types of cactus, and might be lucky enough to spot a roadrunner, jack rabbits, coyotes, and bighorn sheep.
For road bikers, we are on a bike lane. Two blocks to a bus route means groups sharing a car have options.
La Quinta historic downtown has wonderful cafes, bistros and restaurants. There is no shortage of restaurants in La Quinta at large, there is something for every taste and budget.
It's twenty minutes to the Living Desert, a wild animal park focused on desert animals, plants and education which is wonderful for all ages. It's forty minutes to Soak City Waterslides.
45 minutes to PSP - Palm Springs International Airport. Part of the airport is open air, and car rentals are right at the terminal, making it easy and pleasant. Try Allegiant, WestJet, and Alaska, and many others depending on where you are coming from for flight options. Other options are to fly to LAX in Los Angeles or ONT and drive to La Quinta.

Peterborough OntarioOutstanding vacation!
Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This was an outstanding family vacation. We had an absolutely fantastic stay. The owners have attention to every detail- right down to a personalized welcome basket of goodies on arrival. The layout of the home was wonderful- so many areas to explore for the kids. Well appointed with everything you could ever want-- from kids toys to kitchen items to cozy towels and linens. The beds were super comfy with lovely high end hotel quality bedding. The house was immaculately clean, a very important factor for us due to allergies (which did not flair up once so thank you!!).
There was tons to do in the area from hiking right outside the door, to the Living Desert, to checking out the local restaurants and areas. We did an amazing three hour hike which I would totally recommend at the Living Desert. The owners went out of their way to send very helpful and informative emails for traveling routes, activities for families, and any other number of things that we asked, which was immensely helpful for our first trip to La Quinta and the Palm Springs area.
The uniqueness of the house added such a wonderful element. The property offered so much to do from soccer and tag in the backyard, to rooftop stargazing (a real hit with the kids), hot tubbing and swimming in the pool. We really didn't need to leave the house but wanted to explore the wonderful area.
Our family, with 3 young boys, could not have had a better time. Out of all the homes we looked at renting, I am so glad we chose this one! The online pictures don't do it justice- it is even more amazing in person. It was like our own personal resort. La Quinta was a lovely and family-friendly area and the home was exceptional. But the kind and thoughtful owners were really the icing on the cake. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this vacation property!

Vancouver, CanadaAmazing desert oasis!

My wife and I stayed at The End of the Trail for 5 days this past fall and it was an amazing experience. The place has everything a family or group needs to relax and has tons of great spaces to eat and gather plus lots of amenities - pool, great hot tub, deck, cabana, lawn and more.
There were lots of supplies and all instructions were provided - it was a great experience.
We went hiking right from the front door and played tennis at free local (really good) tennis courts and, of course, played golf. Stores and grocery are close by car.
Angela really seemed to look after all of the details and everything was exactly has promised. She followed up on all of the details to make sure we had a great time.
Thanks for a great experience. -

We loved this home and would happily stay there again. The service we received was excellent from beginning to end, with any queries immediately and effectively dealt with. The home was spotless, very well stocked with all amenities, and well located. One lovely feature was the private, grassy lawn adjoining the house which is perfect for childrens games or badminton, bocce, lying in the grass and cloud watching. There is a very good mix of shops nearby, and a wonderful supply of restaurants. We particularly enjoyed being able to cross the road and walk straight into a park for lovely walks and hikes in the mountains.

Dear angela, Thank you for sharing your gorgeous home with all its charm and uniqueness. Such beautiful decor throughout with amazing attention to detail, which really impresses a guest and made my stay so welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed the dips in your inviting pool while watching the hummingbird feed and the roadrunners visiting your yard. It was so nice to soak up the California sun while being rejuvenated in your relaxing spa. The breathtaking views from both your home and on the hiking trails were exhilarating. Your thoughtfulness and thorough instructions were easy to follow. All of your labeling in the kitchen and throughout the house made staying here effortless. The quaint shops in La Quinta and surrounding towns made touring very interesting and enjoyable. Unfortunately, it is the "End of the Trail" for me, as I return home today. I thoroughly look forward to returning to this beautiful paradise with such an amazing property and fantastic owners. Many Thanks! Lfc

OttawaA beautiful private escape with all the amenities
Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
I rented the End of the Trail for a week in august and I couldn't be happier with my choice. It's a very peaceful escape that has everything you could possibly want, whether you're just relaxing or need to stay connected.
I've never hiked before but I went every morning I was there. The trails that start right across the street are beautiful and seem endless. There are challenging mountains to climb or flat trails and I saw all sorts of interesting desert creatures; it was truly an amazing experience with nature.
The house has everything; multiple rooms/areas to dine, a large kitchen, quality bbq, fully wired sound/music throughout the house and outside leisure areas, Tv's throughout, a mist system around the pool to cool down on extra hot days, a top quality hot tub, a cabana with fans and great ambience, a spa like fountain in the pool, etc. I had work to do while I was there so the gorgeous office with Wi-Fi and free long distance calling was also a key feature for me.
The owners are very nice people, easy to work with and have a genuine interest in assuring your stay is a great one, and you have everything you need.
I enjoyed my stay so much that I've already started planning a return trip with a group of friends. I highly recommend this property to any group of friends, couples or families. It's resort quality but totally private and much more peaceful.
Thank you End of the Trail owners!

We could not be more satisfied with our stay at this unique vacation rental home. My wife and I and two other couples stayed for a week in July for some trail running, hiking and relaxing in the desert. "End of The Trail” is located literally at the trail head to some of the best hiking trails in the Palm Springs area.
After spending a few hours each morning on the trails we couldn't wait to get back to the house for a refreshing dip in the pool and some serious relaxing. This amazing home had everything we were looking for and more. The mister around the pool area kept us cool in the afternoon sun and the covered patio area by the pool was our favorite place in the evening with the ceiling fans and lighting providing a great atmosphere. We also loved the sound system with speakers throughout the house and pool area. With the ipod adapter you can simply plug in your Mac device, use the apple TV or put on one of the many cd's that are in the cabinet.
We all loved the La Quinta area and look forward to returning to "End of The Trail in the near future. We highly recommend this vacation rental home to anyone looking for a fun well stocked house in a perfect location.
