CalgaryInn of the Sea Resort

We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn of the Sea Resort. The manager of the property was very professional and was easy to deal with. This was our first family holiday, so we had a lot of questions that were answered via email quickly. We appreciated her recommendation to rent both the main suite and the hotel unit. Making reservations couldn't have been easier! The website page about this property is well done and gives a lot of accurate information. When we arrived, we found the accommodation was clean and homey. The well-equipped kitchen was great, especially since it was at least a 20 minute drive to the nearest family restaurant. The large family room in the main suite offered ample space for our family of 4 (two teenagers, two adults) to hang out and relax. The view from the family room is truly spectacular! We were visiting in the early spring, so the outdoor swimming pool was not open yet, however it looked like fun, overlooking the water. We did many day trips from the condo to see Vancouver Island, however we could have spent more time enjoying the condo and property itself as there was lots to do there. We spent a morning watching the sea lions play in the water, and when the tide was out there was lots of exploring that could be done. It was interesting to see all the sea life that lives in the rocks, including many sea stars. Our visit was very comfortable and quiet. We would recommend this property to our friends and family, and hope to enjoy this peaceful retreat again sometime.

This apartment really has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Every morning's breakfast was enjoyed on the patio with an exquisite view over the ocean and hearing the waves splashing against the rocks, roosters crowing in the distance and birds chirping among the trees. The area has many activities to enjoy - beautiful walking trails, artisan stalls on various nearby properties, days at the pool and don't miss the Cedar Farmer's Market! Of course, there are many options for day trips too (Nanaimo, Cowichan Bay, Genoa Bay, etc.). You will have a wonderfully relaxing time in a tranquil setting out of town!
The correspondence between myself and the owner was excellent from the start and she was very responsive and accommodating. I will not hesitate staying here again! -

Inn on the sea was the final part of a tour of Western Canada. We were a family if 4 with an 11 & 13 year old and this accommodation was perfect for what we need - which was to relax and recharge. The booking and confirmation system worked very well and we felt confident about what to expect. My only disappointment was realising on arrival that the plot was not front row on the sea as I had expected. It is in fact offset behind another block of accommodations although we still had a view of the sea off to one side. This initial concern was soon dispelled by the excellent standard of fixtures and fitting, kitchen equipment and a vast DVD library. The 2 kayaks and the crab pot were put to good use throughout the stay, providing hours of fun.
The location of Inn on the Sea is not on the standard tourist route. The drive to Victoria was the best part of 2 hours, so this may not be the perfect location for touring the island as local attractions are a little basic, but it's a great place if you want to sit, walk, paddle, fish or just relax.
We had a great time! -

We were very pleased with these accommodations. The condo was really nice and very well equipped. Terrific view and 3 great decks, one with a BBQ off the kitchen that was well used. The pool and jacuzzi (spectacularly located right on the ocean) were clean and not overly busy. The area is so beautiful and it was very convenient to visit our family in Nanaimo and Ladysmith and also do a bit of golfing on a nearby course where we had no difficulty getting a tee time. I look forward to staying there again on our next trip to Vancouver Island and have recommended it to several other friends with no hesitation.

Left on 07/17/2012 for a stay in July 2012
From the moment we drove into the parking lot of this Inn of the Sea property, we knew we had discovered a hidden "gem". The listing & photos of this condo are completely accurate - very clean, tastefully decorated, comfortable bedding/pillows, abundance of towels, well-stocked kitchen, cozy/comfy furnishings, books, large movie selection, games/beach accessories/children's activities, & a computer/fax for those who need to maintain business contacts...no detail has been overlooked! The owner is amazing - very personable, easy to contact, quick to respond, and she really cares about helping to provide you with a very memorable, pleasant holiday experience. The condo is located in a very private/ tranquil setting - a peaceful/serene paradise with the most amazing views; a vacation home that is very difficult to leave!! We appreciated the fact that this was a haven away from the city, but at the same time was very central, making any island day trip a possibility. We visited the local Crow & Gate Pub/ market, spent a day in Nanaimo with lunch at the harbour & some shopping, challenged ourselves to some ziplining/treetop obstacle courses at Wild Play Park, & took some time exploring the quaint towns of Ladysmith & Chemainus. At the end of the day, we were excited to return to our "home-away-from-home", & in fact, there were a couple of days where we didn't even leave...& spent those days relaxing on the deck, soaking up the rays, marvelling in the views, lounging by the pool, and combing the beach. This condo has something to offer anyone looking for an escape, & I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone visiting the island..it really is a paradise of it's own - a luxurious vacation home in an absolutely perfect setting. We had a difficult time saying good-bye, but we left with some island attractions still unseen, so we will be back. Until then, we will dream of this very breathtaking, peaceful bit of paradise.

We had the great pleasure of staying at The Inn of the Sea Resort at the end of June 2012. The condo was amazing, incredibly clean, and fully equipped, there is even a good selection of books and Dvds if you want to stay in and relax. Being a family of 4 with 2 teenagers (18 yr old girl and 19 yrs old boy), it was a real plus that there were 2 twin beds in one of the room... Who wants to sleep on a hide-a-bed when on vacation. There were 2 kayaks available for our use, it was great, seal came close to us (+/- 25 ft) while we were on water. We would definitely go back and recommend it to our friends and family.

Vancouver, BCExcellent vacation home

This condo at the Inn of The Sea is an excellent getaway home-away-from home place or a comfortable base for an adventure on Vancouver Island's many attractions.
First, about the condo:
You will have everything you would need and wish for, from top of the line kitchen utensils and appliances, electronic equipment, sports gear, free Internet, fireplace, comfortable living room and bedrooms, a skylight! in the dining area and a breathtaking view from your living, outside balcony and bedroom. Rain or shine, it was an excellent time we spent here.
Vancouver Island has many attractions and if you like hiking ,boating or fishing, art or sports, festivals or just want to relax and find serenity, this is a perfect spot for your exploring.
We played every day tennis on the court of this complex, tried the hot tub and next time we will try also the outdoor pool (we do like more hot weather for this and it was not the case this June) ,while also visiting a petting farm, farmer's market and enjoying other outdoor activities. One day we took a trip to Victoria where we lingered around the main harbor and visited the Royal Museum with its dinosaur exhibition which our 4 yr old son really enjoyed.
Evenings we played a variety of board games (provided!) and gazed to the beautiful water in front of us. Some fishermen got us fresh shrimp and fish, we actually used the BBQ quite a lot with all the fresh sausages and local vegetables we've got from the weekly farmer's market.
In summary, rest assured the condo offers everything you would need and wish form a vacation spot, go prepared for an adventure and exploring what the area has to offer. -

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo. The listing description was exactly as described. It was a very clean and well kept unit. The grounds of this condo are very well kept and very clean. I would definitely recommend this unit to friends and relatives. You must visit the Crow and Gate English Pub. Also have breakfast at the Frog and Puddle. Great food and close by.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks on Vancouver Island with this condo as our home base. The condo is lovely and so well stocked all you need to do is add food. The balcony overlooks both woods and ocean and we spent many hours watching seals and boats on the water.
There are so many things to do around Nanaimo. You can Kayak, the condo has 2 kayaks for your use. There is also sightseeing, shopping, beach-combing, swimming, hiking and so much more. Great place to stay and have a wonderful getaway. -

As you take the last fork in the road, the trees reach the clouds, your smile widens as lush vegetation lines your yellowbrick path to shangrila. The sounds of songbirds greet you as you take in the fragrances only known to this area of the island. This my friends, is only the beginning. You have arrived.
As we came up the stairs our hearts were beating faster and faster. We were in awe of our surroundings. I pulled back the vertical blinds in the living room, and the ocean came alive from one end to the other. Spectacular.
From the plush furnishings to the elegant decor, this condo (penthouse)is in mint condition.
I love to cook and I bring my own spices. Lo and behold they were already expecting a chef, perhaps from the Ritz Carlton. Fully stocked with everything you can imagine in a 5 star resort. Everything in the kitchen was top notch. All the bases are covered here.
The complex is beautifully manicured and beachcombing for unique pieces of driftwood is a must. The water here seems to stay amazingly calm so paddling and taking awesome photos has been outstanding and effortless.
A couple of seals have been keeping a watchful eye on us.
After a day of sightseeing and endless photo ops, its priceless to return to Doug and Peggy's heavenly penthouse to unwind.
On those rare rainy days you can catch up on your reading with a wide variety of novels ,games and toys for the kids.
This was once in a lifetime for my wife and I to share with my Dad 83 years young and the love of his life 87.
We will never forget our memories here thanks to the genorosity of two people that went for their dreams and hold an open invitation to those of us taking the time to smell the roses, that are a staple here. Enjoy!!!!!!!!

My 2 year old twins enjoyed the big views of the forest and ocean. Such a calming, sweet serenity takes over and there's not a care in the world here. It will be a hard place to leave. The owner has taken great care to provide everything you need for an enjoyable stay. You hardly have to bring a thing! Her kitchen is fully stocked, the bathroom towels are Egyptian cotton and there's even toys & games for the kids! We love it here!!!
