House decorated in keeping with the Early California Spanish Revival theme. The house is two miles up from the beginning of the road, the ultimate get away spot. Private! Please take a look at a google map of the area. We live up in the hills overlooking the Diablo Valley and Oakland Hills. We are at 1000ft altitude. Panoramic sunrises and sunsets. Private 3 acres with parking for several cars. We are 35 minutes from downtown SF. The shopping and dining in Walnut Creek is 10 minutes away. Take a walk around Lafayette Reservoir or visit in September for the Lafayette Art and Wine Festival. Perfectly situated for a wine country tour of either Napa/Sonoma or Livermore Valley! Or just stay at the house and relax in the pool, sauna, or hot tub. Play a game of pool, read a book!! Enjoy the birds and the quiet.

We stayed here for a few nights for a family reunion we were having down the road. This house in unbelievable! With enough room for lots of people and a view that is just amazing! In the hot tub at night you can see the whole view of the mountains and the towns, as well as the beautiful stars. I highly highly recommend this rental as it is truly a stunning place.

I could go on for pages about the myriad beauties of this home. Perched high on a mountain overlooking a gorgeous Bay area Valley (a view I especially loved from the hot tub), this home is an exquisite gem. There is a marvelous stone fireplace where my wife and our friends spent most of our time since the pool table was in the same room. The other place we spent a lot of time was the jacuzzi tub that looked directly at Mount Diablo. Ridiculously romantic. Our friends very much enjoyed the sauna, endless pool, and fabulous bookcase that takes up an entire wall in the kitchen. Mrs. Schneider was a wonderful remote hostess, who answered all of our questions and was available whenever we needed to ask more.

My family, friends, and i were here celebrating Thanksgiving 2011...And totally blown away...Not only was there enough room for 12 people to sleep, but every room in the house was spectacular.The weekend was a blast..The views were amazing, the hot tub was always full, and there was always a line for the next game of billards..We were supplied with everything we needed to prepare and serve 16 people for a wonderful meal...I am already anxious for the next gathering i need to plan...it will for sure be at the Schneider residence...Thank you so much again, Doug and Karen. Without writing a book I would recommend this house for any occasion. We celebrated our 3 year anniversary and my 40th Birthday here. This house house is large but so comforting in many way's. Around every corner you'll find a surprise in intentional decor with personal humor and delight.The views made us feel like we were back in Italy. I love this place. Thank you Doug and Karen for making such a place.

We held our wedding at the Schneider Residence, and the experience couldn't have been better. The views are amazing -- *truly* amazing -- and the home was the perfect setting for our event. There are oddities left and right that made our stay fun and interesting -- an endless pool, balconies and more balconies, sculptures, gorgeous gardens (seriously gorgeous), hanging lights, a large bear, and more. Our wedding guests are still asking us how we found such a perfect venue.
Karen Schneider was wonderfully helpful in preparing us for our stay -- they had serving dishes galore for us to use, and she made sure everything was ready for us. My family stayed in the house for 5 days, and we loved (and will never forget) a minute of it. Perfect! It's a fantasy land!Response from Karen Schneider - 05/20/2011

I had my wedding here and it was so beautiful, private and charming. We had 32 guests and there was plenty of parking. The large dinning table was perfect for laying out the food spread. Guests were well entertained using the pool table. We had fun with 12 of us being able to sleep at the house. The photos from the wedding came out very nice. Getting to the house can be a little challenging, but everyone thought it was well worth the effort. We used the hot tub at night and it was so relaxing and beautiful with the view of the valley. The lights on the trees give a dreamlike ambiance.

We rented this house for our family to attend our son's graduation from nearby St. Mary's College. It worked out great! We were able to host a beautiful graduation party for friends and relatives - something we could not have done had we been in a hotel. Very cool house!

When your GPS says you have reach your destination don't get discouraged. Check the address and you will realize you are not there. You will climb a road to a home on top of a hill with a view that is beyond words with a lovely home to go along with it. A total wonderful experience
