So happy that we found the "Pillow and Paddock" when we were searching for lodging during Derby week. Don and Francesca are the ultimate hosts and we felt at home for the moment we arrived. There are only a few guest rooms so there is definitely an intimate feel to the B & B. The rooms are very well appointed and the beds are extremely comfortable. You will not want for anything but Don and Francesca will go the extra mile if there is something that you need. A beautiful breakfast was served every morning and since we were there during Derby week, they had special events every night. Don't hesitate to book, it is a delight!

We stayed in the "Room With a View" for the weekend of the Kentucky Derby. The innkeepers were wonderfully helpful and accommodating regarding directions to Churchill Downs, hints and tips for parking and enjoying the races, and even helping others at the inn find tickets to the races. While the property is a little ways outside of Louisville, the drive in was reasonable, even with Derby weekend traffic.
Meals were excellent, and there is a "Guest Pantry" on the second floor with a coffee maker, snacks, and a refrigerator stocked with bottled water and soft drinks.
The room was as advertised; roomy, comfortable, and very homey. It's in what used to be the attic, so there's an additional set of stairs to get there, but this also provides a feeling of seclusion and extra privacy. In a welcome change from some places, the property is every bit as lovely as the photos on the web site indicate, and maybe even nicer.
Don and Francesca are warm and friendly hosts; they were exceptionally welcoming and did everything anyone could expect to make sure everyone had a great time.
We will definitely return for a weekend on the Bourbon Trail, or to bicycle, or simply to have a quiet retreat in a beautiful setting. -

From the moment my husband and I pulled up to this beautiful home, we knew we were in for something special. The owners, Don and Francesca, were extremely nice and detail-oriented. Their home is absolutely spotless. Everything was clean and fresh, and the attention to detail, from the delicious goodies left on our pillow every night to the real flowers in the cute vases on the breakfast tables were absolutely wonderful. The B&B; is easy to find in LaGrange, KY. Our first day there we went horseback riding and then went shopping in the small town of LaGrange, which had art galleries, some small cafes (we did not eat there, though), and antique/gift shops. The next night we went to Louisville for a Louisville Bats game. Francesca is an amazing cook, and both of our breakfasts were delicious (fruit smoothie, sausage, egg souffle, hashbrowns, toast and pineapple nut bread one day, and the next day a yogurt parfait, french toast with bananas, syrup and whipped cream, scrambled eggs and bacon). We did have lunch there the second day (as part of a living social deal) which was broccoli cheese soup, salad with chicken, mandarin oranges and nuts, and ice cream. It was all wonderful. The first night of our stay must have been Italian night for the couple and a friend of theirs who was in town because the smell throughout the house was amazing and left me jealous that we were not staying for dinner! The rooms in the house are beautiful, each with its own theme. There is a snack pantry (which happened to be right across the hall from our room). It has coffee/tea, soft drinks, water and packaged snacks (cookies, granola bars and popcorn) that are free for guests. There are also many games, magazines and movies in this room for guest use as well. We only had a few Diet Cokes and played a few games from this room. There is also a hot-tub outside, which had we have known this, we would have made use of it and brought our bathing suits. We will remember this for next time. If you need a getaway in a beautiful setting and you want to be spoiled with delicious food and total relaxation, I highly recommend the Pillow and Paddock.

Left on 12/20/2012 for a stay in December 2012
LaGrange (particularly when decorated for Christmas) could be the backdrop for the Capra classic "It's a Wonderful Life." Tidy shops and restaurants line Main Street where a freight train (toting tractor trailer sized containers) rumbles through every hour or so. From this nostalgic scene, it's a quick drive to the rambling roads through bluegrass country to the relaxed luxury of Pillow and Paddock. The sprawling, modern farmhouse is inviting on its own, but its the hosts--Don and Francesca--who make this house a welcoming home away from home. From the warm cookies on the pillow to the bountiful breakfasts each morning, every bit of our weekend stay was absolutely delicious! The bucolic surroundings offer the peace and quiet of the country, yet you're only a few minutes from the interstate, making it easy to spend the day in Louisville or travel the Bourbon distillery trail.

Our daughter and family live near La Grange, Ky. For us to stay with them, we would have to put one of the grandchildren out of their bedroom, plus we do like our own space and quiet time after a busy day. We've stayed in hotels in La Grange on previous visits and they are very lacking in cleanliness. The Pillow and Paddock one bedroom apartment worked perfect. Francesca and Don are very genuine and take pride in what they offer. I hope the apartment is available for our future visits. We already have it booked for 10 days over Christmas.

Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in July 2012
I surprised my wife with a trip to the Pillow & Paddock for her birthday. Not knowing what to expect, but based on positive reviews, I finally clued her in as we approached Louisville. Once we arrived, we knew we were in for a special weekend!
Francesca and her husband were perfect hosts. Starting from the welcome emails I got, with suggestions for activities while we were there, to follow up emails asking if we had any special requests or needs. We stayed in the Gatsby room, which was elegantly furnished, and very peaceful. Next to our room was the community pantry, stocked with drinks, snacks, games, movies, and books if you desired. There were 3 other couples staying in the Inn while we were there, so we got to know them over the course of our weekend at meals and just relaxing around the house. Each room was tastefully decorated and unique, and the grounds were just lovely.
We were treated to a delicious breakfast each morning, complete with coffee and fresh juice. I had responded to Francesca's email about a dietary restriction, and she made sure to supplement my meals so I wouldnt miss anything. I appreciated the extra attention, eve though I did not require anything special.
Saturday night, we were lucky enough to enjoy dinner at the Paddock as well. Again, dinner was fantastic, and the company was even better. We really enjoyed laughing around the dinner table, and appreciating the laid back atmosphere that the hosts created.
Sunday before we left, we got to spend some time chatting with the Innkeepers about their lives, and I could really see how much they care about each other and their guests. They truly enjoy the business, and meeting new people each week.
If we find ourselves in LaGrange, KY again, or find that we could use a weekend away, the Pillow and Paddock will surely be on our short list.
Thank you for making my wife's birthday present so much fun! -

The entire house had such a warm feeling that is almost impossible to find elsewhere. The food was great. Each morning we woke up to a delicious breakfast and we were treated with a very tasty dinner one evening. The grounds of the property and the surrounding area were gorgeous. I can't say enough wonderful things about not only the Pillow and Paddock, but also the owners Don and Francesca. I have had the pleasure of staying here on 2 occasions, both for business trips to Louisville. The rooms are impeccably clean (so much more than many hotels I've stayed at) and the multi-course breakfasts are scrumptious, without equal. You feel so welcome and comfortable here. The property is beautiful and peaceful - the perfect escape from my stressful business days in the city. Francesca is more of a close friend than just an innkeeper. She goes above and beyond to make sure everything about your stay is first class.
If you have the opportunity to have "Dinner with the Innkeeper" I would Highly recommend it! Francesca's culinary skills are amazing. All of the guests dined together one of the evenings I was there. It was a very special experience that we all enjoyed tremendously. By far it was one of the Best meals I've had in quite some time and could easily compete with any 5 star restaurant.
I can't wait to return to this wonderful place! -

My husband and I had never stayed in a B&B; before and after our experience at Pillow and Paddock, I don't think we'll ever stay in a hotel again! The owner is the sweetest lady ever and a fantastic cook at that!! The property is beautiful, the room and bathroom were amazing, and just the overall hospitality was great. The property is in close proximity to the town of La Grange with some cute little shops there and great restaurants...go early though, most places close at 5. And it's fairly close to Louisville, so there's plenty to do. The landscaping at the house was beautiful and they've just overall done a great job in making it a beautiful retreat that we will gladly return to anytime. :)

Very pretty rural KY location, a few miles out from a tiny town with a railroad down Main St. Lush bluegrass, horses grazing next door, impossibly new & pretty house in & out. Generous rooms. Delicious (she used to own restaurants) meals include breakfasts (of course), but also one dinner & a box lunch. Hosts are charming, eager to share their experience & romantic lifestories. They also provide tourist info & opportunity.
We didn't use the TV, so cannot vouch for that, but a big home library of CDs, Dvds, books, mags, board games, snacks. We did use the bed--great mattress.
Owner bent over backward to open up a room for our chosen weekend--extremely accommodating. I don't know how they make any money at this--the whole experience is terrific value. This is how B&B; should be!
Gps got us close, but we did have to phone for the last half mile. Bout a halfhour from Louisville.

My husband and I stayed at Pillow and Paddock for a weekend get-away from Indianapolis. We arrived in the afternoon and met Francesca who showed us to the Room with a View. It was gorgeous! The furnishings were beautiful and every detail was attended to. We went to a local Irish pub, which she recommended, in La Grange and had a nice dinner, then returned to find chocolate-covered strawberries on our bed. While sleeping in the big, beautiful bed, we enjoyed listening to a thunderstorm in the distance and spring peepers in the brook. We awoke to the sunrise and a cool breeze coming through our window. Breakfast was excellent! There were fresh fruit cups with the biggest blackberries I've seen; an egg, cheese, veggie and sausage casserole; fresh tomatoes; toast and preserves; and potatoes. All beautifully presented. Overall, this bed and breakfast and its host are charming, laid-back and beautiful. We will return, but we'll bring friends next time!

My wife and I took a weekend away from the city-life of Cincinnati. The location is unique and calming; sitting in the placated country-side just outside of the historic LaGrange town center. We were greeted by the most warming innkeeper who accommodated us more than what we paid for. Our room was eclectic, relaxing and quiet. We spent the day in downtown Louisville and downtown LaGrange and ended our evening with board games and coffee provided by the innkeeper. Breakfast was a wonderful country-cooked meal that added the last touch to our trip. We had an mishap with our payment and the innkeeper was completely understanding and allowed us to mail the remainder of our payment. Overall our time at Pillow and Paddock was very memorable and we are making it a part of our annual getaway weekend!

It looked like a magazine cover and, by the way, the bed was so comfy!! They provided me with my initiation info, left me a snack and let me snuggle in. How special was I!! When I awoke and looked out the window...wow! The property is so lovely and peaceful. The multi-course breakfast served each day along with the Derby chat and camaraderie with other guests was wonderful. Don and Francesca hosted some special events for the guest over the weekend. The location is convenient to Louisville, and LaGrange is a charming town to explore on its own. In addition to Francesca's particular hospitality I enjoyed visiting with her very clean and well-behaved schnauzers. We are part of a group of friends who make an annual trip to Churchill Downs for opening day festivities. Last april we made the fortunate discovery of this lovely Bed & Breakfast and had a wonderful stay in this beautiful home! The rooms are all exquisitely appointed, each with a distinctive style. The innkeepers are very friendly and charming and enjoy making guests feel quite at home. The excellent breakfast, served in the beautiful formal dining room, was delicious and plentiful! It turned out to be a lovely weekend and our stay at the Pillow and Paddock was a highlight of our trip. We plan on making this B & B a regular part of our visits to this area.

We went here for our anniversary. Absolutely loved it! Francesca and Don were gracious hosts - the rooms and surroundings were decorated beautifully! Visiting over breakfast, the other guests were delightful and we loved the scrumptious breakfast that was prepared by our innkeeper.
We also loved La Grange, a town full with history and if you love trains - it is a must! We have already booked for next year! -

Scottsdale, AZPampered at Pillow and Paddock B & B

We had the privilege of staying at the Pillow and Paddock during the 2011 Kentucky Derby. The innkeepers, Francesca and Don, are so warm and welcoming. They couldn't do enough to ensure our comfort, and the inn was a wonderful respite to return to after the hectic Derby festivities (convenient to Louisville, but located in peaceful surrounding country). The inn itself is furnished beautifully and very welcoming. Guests have use of a game room and mini-kitchen to enhance their comfort and entertainment. Breakfast was phenomenal. Francesca and Don make all their guests feel like old friends, and we can't wait to return!
