The Market gite overlooks the Medieval Market place of Lagrasse, known as one of France’s most beautiful villages. This beautiful 3 bedroom apartment is steeped in history and we have worked hard to keep its character, providing a comfortable home from home for a family or a couple. There are two large double bedrooms, one with kingsize bed the other with double and single bed. The third is a charming single bedroom.
The lofty 17th century timber ceilings and the colourful 19th century floor tiles create a wonderful setting to enjoy the sounds of the village; sparrows chirping & swallows flying past the open window.

The medieval village of Lagrasse is listed as one of the prettiest in France. The gite has the feel of a rural location, with the lovely sound of the river coming thro' the open window and yet you have all amenities on the doorstep including excellent restaurants. Mediterranean beaches are only 45mins away; Carcassonne, Canal du Midi and many of the Cathar castles 30 mins. Budget airlines fly into Carcassonne,Beziers, Perpignan and Toulouse or you can take the train to Narbonne. A car is necessary if you want to tour but if all you want to do is read books, paint and draw or go for fantastic walks then we can arrange a pick up from the airport or station.

The apartment has bags of space, style and absolutely everything you would want - less a view. The kitchen is immaculate, bedrooms comfy and the apartment proved a real hit with my two young girls due to the table tennis, books, dvds, daft and loveable dog and an 'en suite river'. The river out back is the really special part; hours spent paddling and catching fish in the most peaceful and beautiful of surroundings. The surrounding hills are good for a run/walk and the sleepy little town is charming. Kate made us feel completely at home and it is a great place for those who want a place to relax and savour life.

We stayed in the Market Gite, which was extremely spacious, clean and had everything we needed to make the weeks stay comfortable. Although being on the Market side meant it was noisy in the morning, simply closing the shutters blocked out the sounds of the chatty postmen loading their vans.
The positioning on the river meant we could escape to a tranquil setting beneath the bridge with a cup of tea (me being 7 months pregnant) and a glass of wine for my husband.
Our springer spaniel was in heaven with lots of places to explore and being able to swim to her hearts content everyday!
For those that cant be separated from the tv, the hookup to satellite meant you had all the creature comforts of UK freeview channels, and if you grew bored of that, the DVD and book collection is very impressive!
If we plan to return (and I would were i not the type of person who wanted to try new places and countries all the time) then I'd opt for the balcony gite, as it looked adorable and had the added bonus of a balcony to soak up the views of the abbey, the river and the bridges.
