This is our second time to stay in this particular unit and the 3rd time at Mahana Resort. The unit is beautifully appointed, well maintained, comfortably stocked with cooking appliances and extras all about the unit. The owners have developed a nice "Pay it forward" with cooking supplies and bar beverages.
We enjoy being on the ground floor as we spend a lot of time on the linai. We also appreciate the easy access of ground level and do not find our view to be any less quality.
We like the quietness of the area, the wonderful location to the beach and how nice the beach is at this location. We went for what we call our 3.5 mile Power Wave Walk every morning.
The Mahana is nicely located to some shopping and not too far away from more sophisticated 'serious' shopping if desired.
Our extreme disappointment this trip was the last minute notice of the building refurbishment. We appreciate that the building is well maintained. However, we made our reservations 9 months in advance and we were notified only 2 weeks before arrival of the impact of the planned refurbishment. We were greatly disturbed by the last minute notice as we spend a lot of money to make this trip and found it highly unprofessional to give guests a 2 week notice of such impact.
We hope that there is a lesson learned from this for the Board of Directors that they take seriously the impact of such work on guests and give them more notice in the future. I am sure that there were and are many more guests that are disappointed with the late notice and then it also makes for a customer service nightmare for management.

Mahana 118 is the nicest condo we've stayed at the Mahana, the decor is beautiful, furnishings were gorgeous, everything had a quality feel. The condo was spotless, the cleaner even stopped by on the first day to make sure everything was OK. The owners were very generous with their "pay it forward". It had every convenience, there was nothing not to like
Absolutely perfect oceanfront condo

This condo was meticulously clean and well maintained. It was completely remodeled with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, a huge tile and stone shower with tons of water pressure, floor to ceiling windows in living room and bedroom, upscale furnishings, tons of beach accessories, a large furnished covered lanai and a perfect direct oceanfront location. I have nothing negative to say about this condo and we will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Maui. I would recommend it to any couple seeking the best oceanfront condo on the market in Kaanipali. The owners' taste in décor is second to none. They gave their condo a subtle nod to old Hawaii without using pastels, bright colors, wicker or lots of floral decorations. It was very sophisticated and mature. The kitchen was stocked with every possible pot, pan, utensil and spice you could need during your stay. All of the lighting was dimmable, which was nice for a relaxing night in if you so choose. I'm telling you these owners thought of every possible nicety to make this condo stand out from every other one in Kaanipali. You simply cannot and should not look any further than Mahana 118 for the most perfect oceanfront vacation rental. It will not disappoint.

Mahana 118 is a beautiful, clean, modern condo. Walk onto the lanai, sip coffee, and watch the turtles peek out of the water as they meander through the reef just yards away. Sooo calming!

My husband and I stayed at this condo for our honeymoon in august 2013. When we walked in, our jaws dropped! It was truly the nicest condo we have ever stayed in. When you walk in, the views of the ocean are breathtaking. The views of the ocean in Maui are always breathtaking, but seeing it right outside of your bedroom within footsteps of your door is something else. We immediately dropped our bags, changed into our bathing suits and ran straight out into the ocean, about 10 paces away. It was incredible. This beach has some of the best snorkling- my husband went spearfishing every morning! We continued to do this everyday and felt totally safe just closing the sliding glass door and the blinds because this condo area was very calm, quiet and safe. The amenities were awesome. This condo had its own mini bar (take some, leave some!) a cooler that we used on the beach everyday, beach chairs, boogie boards, a portable fan, you name it. It even had extra contact solution in case I forgot mine! The bed was so comfortable, the towels were fantastic and it was beautifully decorated. We were so pleased with our stay here and it made for the perfect vacation. We will definitely be coming back. Couldn't ask for a nicer condo in a such a great centrally located area in paradise!

A fantastic place right on the ocean with an amazing view.
The interior is beautiful decorated with great taste. The apartment has got everything you could ask for. The proximity to the beach and the constant sound of the waves makes this one of the best placed I have stayed.
I will definately return.

The condo is fully renovated, and offered everything needed to house us for 11 days. The price per day was extremely reasonabel given what you get, and the view.. The view! It was perfect. We drove everywhere and did everything (almost!). My wife and I loved it. Would highly recommend. We shopped at K-Mart grocery for food for breakfast and lunch and took advantage of cooking at the condo when we could (to avoid eating out 3 meals a day for 10 nights was important!) but also took advantage of all the close by locations both North and South of the condo location for great food.
Best breakfast: The Gazeebo - 5-10 minutes North, get the White Chocolate Chip & Macademia Nut w/ Coconut Syrup pancakes.
Best Four Star Dinner (in Lahaina): Lahaina Fish Co - Lobster and Monchong!
Best Lunch: Leoda's Kitchen and Pie Shop - get the Seared ahi sandwich and any of there pies (not Hula though, you gotta go for the others)!
Best desert: of course, Hula Pie, served almost everywhere.
Activities we did: Horseback riding in West Maui mountains, Snuba (amazing!), Sunset Dinner cruise, 2 hr surfing lessons (we rocked it!, Maui Surf Boys, ask for Karl), took a Cessna to Big Island, saw and hiked the volcano, and went to a small hand blown glass shop (2400 Fahrenheit) and bought a souvenir, the owners were awesome!, Road to Hana (hit up Glen and his big dumb coconuts & ice cream stand, best ice cream ever!), and lots of shopping and driving and beaches! Snorkeled at Slaughterhouse Beach and swam with turtles! Too much to describe... and the best part is, no travel agent was used, so it is possible to plan your perfect vacation (or in my case, our Honeymoon) without the aid of others. Just trust in Google :)

We stayed at #118 Sept. 9th - 14th 2012. From the moment we walked through the doors, we fell in love with this beautiful condo. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and what a wonderful spot to do this. Beautiful Hawaiian art and decor throughout. The view and ocean sounds everyday were incredible. The "Times" store had everything and the short walks to the restaurants at the nearby resorts were great. We say a school of dolphins, which was very neat. The short drive to Lahaina was also great, the banyan tree is unbelievable. We even got to meet Mick Fleetwood at his new restaurant on front street. Had a wonderful evening their on the roof top . We did the Highway to Hana tour ( do the tour), and the Haleakala crater sunshine was so impressive. We can't wait to return to #118 and have already booked this great condo for Christmas 2013. We did encounter a bit of trouble with the blinds around the lanai and for some reason there was only 1 beach chair. ( maybe one broke and no one has noticed to replace it).Mahalo Russ % Carrie for sharing your condo with us.

What a great unit! The view was breathtaking! Nothing but ocean and the islands of Lanai and Molokai. Because of the ground level location we were concerned about privacy and seeing the beach traffic, but the beach sits lower than the unit and is blocked completely by a tropical hedge that does not impede your unobstructed view of the ocean...beautiful sunsets every night. We also loved that you could simply walk off the lanai and beach access was steps away. The beach is walkable in both directions, especially to the south as far as your heart's content. Ocean was swimmable with snorkeling right in front of the unit.
We loved being so close to Duke's restaurant. It was a 2 minute walk down the beach...perfect for breakfast or a sunset dinner. Grocery store was just across the street too.
The unit is super clean, in fact I would go so far as to say spotless, and it was decorated with upscale beach decor. The bed was very very comfortable, with good pillows, which was of the utmost importance to us. Also, the unit was very well stocked with everything you could need from kitchen tools, spices, cooking basics like sugar and salt, all the way to a small cooler, beach chairs, games, bug spray...they have thought of it all.
Only one drawback that we found: being ground level does mean you will get a little bit of foot traffic past the unit, usually between about 10am - 4pm, from Mahana guests headed to the beach or laying in the loungers on the grass. It was not too bothersome to us, and the benefits of being ground level with beach access right off your back porch outweighed this for us. Also, the unit had very good sunshades as well as black out window coverings which helped increase privacy.
Carrie and Russ, as well as the rental company Chase n rainbows, was very easy to work with. We would definitely stay here again.

For years we have stayed at another location in Maui however, this complex was closed for several months due to renovations. My wife's sister lives on Maui and she told us about Mahana. We loved our unit #118. It was very spacious with modern appliances with great views and a private covered lani. Air conditioning was a pleasant surprise and you are close to just about everything a family would need.
The few problems that we had consisted of a running tolet, bathroom sink that needed to be replaced, air conditioning that was not consistent and the internet was slow and didn't always work.

What a beautiful place. This is a jewel of a rental. Recently renovated and fully equipped, we had every convenience at our disposal. The location is perfect for shopping, restaurants, wonderful beach, nice pool and well-kept grounds. Everything has been planned and went very smoothly. The only downside is that we had to leave in one week. We will definitely make every effort to extend future stays to at least 2 weeks. Every effort has been successfully made to make your stay here as pleasant as possible.

We stayed at the Mahana from Dec 28th to Jan 4th. The view is very nice but we were disappointed with our stay for the most part. Our door to the patio from the living room did not open and we requested that it be fixed and it never was. The air conditioning in the bedroom never worked right and we cooked on most nights. We tried to open the patio door but it was so noisy that it kept us up most nights. The frying pans & some of the dishes were so disgusting and worn out it was hard to even cook in them. Salt & pepper were left as a minimum spice w/out anything else which is so inconvenient when you are trying to self cater w/out having to buy everything yourself and what a waste if it is thrown out (and expensive for the traveller). We have stayed at other condos who have provided those spices and it has been such a convenience. In addition, the beach chairs were so worn out they were practically falling apart. Please put some quality articles in your condo and people will appreciate it for the price you are charging. We stayed in another condo after our visit to the Mahana and it was like night and day. So impressed with the quality of contents of condo. Overall we were not impressed with our stay and we will not rent from this owner again. It was also very overpriced for the size of the condo and for what was in the condo. Read more
Response from Chase 'N Rainbows Real Estate, Inc. - 02/10/2012
The owner of this condo owns four condos at the Mahana and there are photos of each condo available to look at plus virtual tours. They have always received positive reviews for each condo, until this one particular time. The Mahana is recognized as one of the best run facilities on Maui and the onsite management and maintenance is second to none. Our management team have always responded quickly and professionally to all guests who have any concerns or maintenance issues. According to our records there were no requests made to our office regarding the air conditioning although we do see a report saying that the slider door had been adjusted same day request was made. As for the "noise" when the door was open, the only sounds that can be heard at the Mahana are those of the wonderful waves, as the Mahana is very quiet. This condo is cleaned by a professional cleaning company and the maids check all cooking utensils and dinnerware after each rental as they empty the dishwashers. The owners always come to each condo twice a year, adding or removing anything necessary and also leaving behind many extras for the guests comfort including all kinds of spices, condiments, non perishable packaged goods, baggies, wraps, canned items, extra canned beverages, extra culinary cookware besides the norm, recipes, medicinal supplies, lotions, sprays, emergency supplies, cleaning supplies, games, books, cd's, dvd's, games, binoculars, a stocked bar, bar extras, iPod/iphone docking stations, to name a few. The owners review guest comments both online and from the guest book left in each condo. They always ask guests to tell them if they'd like anything purchased for the condos and they stock it. They do not deter their guests from purchasing items such as beach chairs, beach umbrellas, etc., and leaving them behind for the next guests, but they have no way of knowing the condition of these left behind items in between their visits. Since reading this review, we sent our team to the condo to do an inspection and are quite happy to report that there are plenty of spices in the cabinets, the cooking and dinner ware is in great condition. As for the prices and size of all one bedroom condos at the Mahana, all prices are set and both are comparable to all other condos in the rental program for those seasons. The owners strive to make each of their fully remodeled condos the most comfortable, best stocked and tastefully decorated home away from home for their guests! At this point our history of positive reviews speak for themselves and we hope that folks reading this review will just come to Maui to experience firsthand how terrific this condo really is! Mahalo!

The condo suited our needs perfectly! Well decorated and suited to the needs of renters. Views and sounds of the ocean were beautiful looking out of the floor to ceiling windows! The only negative is that of coral hitting us while swimming even swimming where it was suggested. Personally have not understood why people swim in pools at other resorts we've been to. Truly understood it this time given the coral problem. Location was ideal for all activities.
Loved it here in Maui!

This condo is great. I loved the fact that it is on the ground floor with a great outdoor space and opens to a grassy area with the beach just steps below. The condo is so well stocked with all of the basics that are needed for your stay and all of the extras that you didn't think you needed that make your stay really special. We really enjoyed our visit. The only complaint would be the pull out sofa has some loose springs on one side that need to be repaired so that the mattress stays in place. We also didn't care for the artificial plants that are inside and on the patio of the condo. I really don't think they are needed since there is so much natural beauty at your windows. Our family really enjoyed our time in Maui at the Mahana.

Our entire vacation was wonderful. The Mahana is the best place to stay. All oceanfront condos and spacious. Chase N Rainbows Real Estate does a good job. This is my second stay at the Mahana and I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Maui. Both condos that we stayed in were fully stocked and clean, which is very important to me. Both Condos where oceanfront ground level. 118 & 111 is where we stayed.

My wife and I decided to take the first solo vaction in 5 years since we had our kids. After some reaseach we decided to book through Chasn Rainbows.
We knew we were paying a premium for the suite but the location was a key factor for us. The place is exactly as you see in the picture and advertise. The suite has everything you need and the location is absolutly amazing.
The only thing I wish we had was daily maide service but other than that I wouldnt change a single thing about our trip and chosing to book our condo through Chasin the Rainbow.

This is the most wonderful condo. Only steps away from the ocean, we fell asleep each night listening to the waves on the beach. Close to great restaurants and shopping. We really appreciated having a washer and dryer in our condo. Also, the personal touches like everything you could think of to cook, have a picnic on the beach, etc... were so nice! The most memorable thing the owners did was to have have a beautiful island flower arrangement waiting for us upon arrival. Our honeymoon was so enjoyable and special. Highly recommend this condo!

Mahana 118 is a beautifully renovated room directly on the Ocean. We have stayed in several rooms at the Mahana, and this if by far the nicest. However, we inquired before booking if there would be construction when we were there since we have had this issue before, and were told there was nothing scheduled. When we arrived, the unit above was replacing floors and was drilling and pounding from 7 am - 5 PM for most of the days we were there, which made it very difficult to relax and enjoy the unit. We had to leave everyday just to get peace and quiet, not what you would expect from an oceanfront room. The complex should have scheduled "construction weeks" so visitors are aware and don't have to deal with it on their vacation. That being said, the room was beautiful, very upgraded and had everything you could want. And the area is great, quiet overall, great beaches, snorkling, sun, etc. Maui is my favorite place and I will continue to come back every year, but I might have to look at other accomodations next time because of the construction noise issue.

My husband and I stayed in Mahana 118 during our honeymoon. It's a beautiful, renovated apartment. Everything was clean, comfortable, and worked perfectly. I know that some people don't like to stay on the ground floor, but I have to say that thought it was an ideal spot. It was wonderful to open our lanai door and to have the beach right in front of us. The unit is on the far end of the complex, so it felt very private. I was a little concerned that there would be people hanging out right in front of our windows, but that absolutely wasn't the case.
The Mahana complex is well maintained and in a great location. The pool and bbq areas were great. I really liked that it was just north of the more resorty stretch of Kaanapali beach. That made it feel more quiet and relaxing. For people who want the beachfront West Maui experience but don't want to stay in a big resort, this is really perfect. And, within the Mahana complex, I think that #118 is a fantastic condo.

The place was really nice -- a little too nice for our 2 1/2 year old. If the floors in unit and lanai were a little yet, our son would wipe out. Also, it is right on the beach, but you cannot swim in the ocean right in front. You have to walk a short distance to a swimable area. The pool was nice, but small. We used the Honua Kai's pool the whole time -- that was great! The view and location could not be better! I would stay there again, but wait until my son was a year or two older.

This beautiful home is literally right on the beach. The kitchen is fully furnished with a only a very short walk to the local grocery store. The bed is huge and very comfortable with lots of fluffy pillows. There is an available grill on the premises. The only negative thing I have to say about this beautiful home is that the pull out couch that our nanny slept on was very uncomfortable. I would definitely recommend this property to another couple--we had a great time!

We have stayed at the Mahana twice before in other units, but this one was the nicest! We always like to stay on the ground floor for the convenience of the lawn and quick access in and out. Unit 118, was beautiful decorated and very modern. I thank you and appreciate that everything was available for use. We have been in some units, where many areas were locked. We had full access to everything, and tons of storage. Plus it was so nice to find many spices and things that were left by previous guests. So often you arrive and the only condiment is a salt and pepper shaker. This was another welcome treat! The location was great, right on the water and close to the newly opened Dukes and Times Market, though we recently discovered the Napili Market about 4 miles north of the Mahana. Much nicer and more reasonably priced. The only thing that I might add is to add to the unit is some additional glassware. (Larger wine glasses and some Martini glasses. Both my husband and I are Martini drinkers, and love our Red wine in a larger glass. Other than that, it was awesome and we will definitely be back to this particular unit next year! Thanks for your lovely hospitality! Jan and Dave
