The unit itself was excellent - beautiful kitchen, ceramic tile, nice furnishings, and more than enough space for the five of us. We loved the view from the lanai overlooking the water and the palm trees. I had my coffee out there every morning. The pool and the miniature golf were a hit with the kids. The location was very convenient. The only complaints were the poor internet reception and the noise from the construction.

Papakea is a nice resort in an excellent location and with a perfect view. Although the condo itself was somewht average, the experience was substantially above average. The kitchen was large and came with everything we needed to cook and present meals. Grocery stores were nearby and were reasonably priced.
The owners provide users with boogie boards, putters (for the golf green) and other beach and sports paraphanalia. The view was absolutely perfect. With the sound of waves crashing on the beach, and beautiful views of Molokai and Lanai, we spent a lot of time on the deck soaking in the sounds and view. The swimming pool area was fabulous. The location of the resort is about 10 minutes north of Lahaina, and was convenient to everything on the west side. We enjoyed a barbeque by the pool area on one of the nights of our stay, and it couldn't have been more perfect.
On the negative side: The facility is a little old. The water pressure in the shower was weak. Two of the large curtains in the kitchen and living areas were broken and we couldn't open them very well. For the first 2 or 3 days of our stay, the hot tub in the pool area had too much chlorine in it, and its toxicity caused our eyes to burn.
Even with the imperfections of the place, I'd recommend Papakea, and would come back again.

very nice condo---great location at papakea resort; top floor ocean front. whales and more whales! condo in good shape--the loft area could use an upgrade; 1 bed broken so unusable; a twin. other beds in loft old and lumpy. a better fan up there would have been good as its gets hot and stuffy. dispite this we will stay there again. whats a lumpy bed when you've got the ocean and whales and a very nice resort in the palm of your hand?? mahalo!
