I am confident there is not a condo in Maui closer to the ocean with a better view. My wife and I slept like babies listening to the ocean every night as we slept. We saw whales every day, all day actually, right off the lanai. We also saw turtles most days and snorekelled with the turtles a few times. There is sooo much to do around the surrounding areas and more places to eat than you would ever need. Don't want to go out to eat, even better, because cooking a dinner in the condo and eating on the lanai watching the most amazing sunsets while waves are breaching in the water. That is the best spot in Maui to eat !!! There is no better place on Maui for the value. There is a 100% chance we will be back.

I did a lot of research on where to stay on our recent trip to the islands and found this on a vacation rental website and the description matches the reality.
The unit is located on the third floor of the Maui Kai complex which is smaller and more intimate than its neighboring buildings. The corner unit provided unobstructed views of the coast line and a perfect views of the Molokai which were amazing. There is an elevator near the unit which makes made it very convenient to get in and out without walking around the entire complex. Also, we saw many whales playing in the ocean with their new borns. It was a great way to start the morning and get moving.
What impressed me the most was how well appointment the entire unit was, especially the kitchen. We are food people and were able to hit the market (within walking distance) and cook our own meals in the condo. Dishwasher, coffe makers, fridge, freezer, plenty of cutlery and glasses, and beautiful countertops. Really don't need much more than this and there was plenty more. Great sound system pre-loaded with music with the speakers facing the lanai (yes, I noticed); books for reading about the island; Dvd's if you ever needed them; reliable Wi-FI for posting reviews; snorkel and swim gear in the closet; sleep number bed for a comfortable night's rest; very nice coin-op laundry 20 steps from condo; parking for your jeep; electronic key door for easy entry after too many mai tai's at the luau; did I mention the view?
Here's a tip: there is a book under the coffee table that gives a wonderful history on the Maui Kai complex and the unit along with great tips for getting the max out of your vacation.
This place is perfect for those looking for a couples getaway without the bore of staying at a hotel. Enjoy the island like a local does with a little slice of home right on the water. We'll definitely be back. -

Unit #301 is beautifully furnished and came complete with a gift basket filled with thoughtful gifts (fruit, candy, etc.). The bed is comfortable, the view is wonderful and the sunsets divine. We had a minor problem with the sliding door to the balcony but it was fixed almost immediately. The kitchen is furnished with everything anyone could want or need. If you want to be close to the beach, this is the place.

My husband, 3-year old daughter and I stayed at Maui Kai 301 from 10/4-10/8, 2012; a short visit but absolutely wonderful!
Shayla and Mark have a wonderful condo with everything you might need for your stay; from boogie boards, beach chairs, cooler, etc. The "Welcome Basket" that was provided upon our arrival was a personal and fabulous touch and it really made us feel welcome. Thanks!
The view from this condo is absolutely marvelous...talk about beach-front! My husband and I had our coffee on the lanai every morning and watched very beautiful sunsets. The beach in front of the condo is great, especially because the waves were so mild that my 3-year old daughter was able to float around without getting knocked over by big waves.
The location of this condo is fabulous. The building, although older, is kept up nicely and the staff is friendly. The condo itself is very nice and updated and was clean upon our arrival. The owners were very professional. I would definitely stay here again. -

My husband and I planned our dream trip to Maui and we didn't know what to expect. Shayla was available to answer questions, give advice and helped us in planning our trip. We stayed at Maui Kai for the first part of our time in Maui, and it was fabulous. The location is close to Front St in Lahaina so we were able to take in whale watching and enjoy shopping and sightseeing. We also spent time out on our lanai watching whales and listening to the sounds of the ocean. Shayla provides information on sightseeing, food, and anything else you could imagine doing on the island.
We had an unforgettable time in Maui and cannot wait to return. We would absolutely stay again at 301.

We had absolutely superb time in this condo. Although this is our first time in Hawaii, we did stay later in two more condos in Maui and Big island.
- Superb host! The condo is very thoughtfully decorated and all of our needs were addressed. It had from snorkling equipment to salt to cooking oil, to beach towels. Seriously, could not ask more.
- Location, location!! You can walk barefooted all the way for 1.5 miles to black rock. We did that every morning and evening. The beach Kahipili is absolutely fantastic beach that we could find.
- Accessibility to shopping, other beautiful beaches and other sites.
Fantastic place. Strongly recommended by us and we will be staying here again when we return. -

My husband and I have stayed here several times and it never disappoints! Lovely condo and perfect location. The best feature is the wonderful lanai overlooking the ocean with a comfortable futon and table and chairs, perfect for a sunset cocktail! There is a grocery store nearby for your convenience and a boardwalk within walking distance that connects to beaches and shopping. This is a corner unit so you have an unobstructed view of the the ocean and beachfront. If you visit during whale migration, they are easily seen from the lanai.

You can't beat the location of the condo...practically on the water. Having coffee in the morning on the balcony and cocktails watching the sunsets was fantastic. The condo had all the ameneties: a beautiful kitchen, fabulous shower, comfortable furniture. Nice touches: a great welcome basket, great Hawaiian music CDs, binoculars to watch the whales, information on restaurants in the area and things to do. All around wonderful spot.

We just returned from our second wonderful stay in this condo. I do not think it is possible to have a better view, or be closer to the ocean. When you walk in, you feel a wondrous feeling of peace as you gaze at the ocean. It is a corner unit, so you have a sense of privacy. You can just sit on the lanai, and have your own personal whale show, if visiting during the whale season.
The condo is nicely decorated, and more fully equipped than most condos. The kitchen even has spices, plastic wrap, and foil. It is great not to have to buy everything! There is a comfortable king sized bed in a bedroom located in the back. This allows for a good night's sleep, as you can hear the ocean, but it will not keep you awake.
The owners, Shayla and Mark, really care about their guests, are super to work with, and are very organized. I cannot imagine a better experience. It was hard to leave.

Maui itself is heaven on earth. Staying in Maui Kai 301 was an added bonus. As the saying goes, "location, location, location". Sitting on our lanai made us feel as if we were out in the ocean, and we spent every day looking forward to the sunset.
The condo itself was beautiful and did provide everything we need. The welcome basket provided by Shayla was a special treat, and we surely plan to return to "our" island and to 301. -

There are so many wonderful things to say about Maui Kai 301, so I will start with appreciation for the owners, Shayla and Mark Middleton. Booking was super easy and we did not have one glitch in getting to or accessing the property. They and the maid service were very accomodating and got back to us quickly when we reached out to them. Our party consisted of my husband and our two sons ages 17 and 22.
The condo is so beautifully appointed. My husband and I recently built a custom home, so we totally appreciated all the upgrades that are evident throughout. The lovely bamboo ceilings in the master bedroom and bathroom, the travertine tile and granite in kitchen and bathroom, the modern railing on the lanai and tile terrace,. Everyone in our party loved the shower and the comfortable living room furniture which reminds you that you are in Hawaii, but is not the garish floral prints you usually see in island condos. The subtle turtle motif brings a smile whenever you discover one. I would classify the condo as a boutique luxury hotel suite.
But enough about the interior, the real beauty is on the lanai where the view is incredible and the sounds of the ocean are mesmerizing. While home, we always had our doors open to enjoy the breezes that flow through and to hear the crash of the surf. I slept out on the lanai on the futon the first night and you could find me there every morning with my coffee and every evening to read (they have good reading lights on the lanai...imagine that!)
From our perch, we saw a beautiful sunset every night, people surf fishing, a sea lion, turtles and out rigger canoes. What we didn't see was tons of busy tourist activity that we are used to seeing at large hotels...the boat tours, jet ski's, para sailing companies, lei making classes, waiters, waitresses and people hawking time shares. It was pure tranquility and it really made the difference in our vacation.
We have been coming to Maui for years and always stayed in large hotels, but this is the first time that all of us felt extremely laid back and at peace. We were concerned that our boys would be bored, because the condo does not have WiFi, but they got over that in one day and loved it. We had a car and drove to different beaches, but we also experienced some of the best snorkeling of the trip on the beach right outside of the Westin condos within walking distance. There are good beaches to the right or the left of the condo, so you don't necessarily need a car.
The grounds are kept up very nicely and the place is really quiet and beautiful...the whole focus is on the ocean and nature and it certainly hits the mark.
On the practical side, the boogie boards, snorkel equipment, beach chairs and cooler made it possible for us to be up and out to the beach on the first day...no rental shops to visit, so that was a real plus for us. Also, you are within easy walking distance to a large supermarket for fruit, sandwiches, beverages and whatever else you would need. On-site laundry is a nice perk too.
In summary, our vacation in Maui was so wonderful and Condo 301 at the Maui Kai was a major contributor to that. We would definately return to this little haven of Paradise and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience tranquility, tune in to the peaceful rhythms of nature and enjoy the good company of loved ones.Response from Shayla and Mark Middleton - 08/10/2011

From the first email we sent Shayla, to locking the door behind us as we left, every detail went smoothly. The condo alone was wonderful, clean, and had everything we needed, from the full kitchen, to the beach toys. It's a beautiful condo, but that's just the beginning. I had the great good fortune of choosing Maui Kai 301 as the place to stay for a recent trip to Maui. I wanted to stay right on the beach, because I anticipate that it will be my only trip to Hawaii, so I wanted to do it right. I studied condo reviews for days and settled on Maui Kai 301 because of it's beachfront location, modern styling, and the beach toys that were available for guest use. One review I read said that the condo is exactly like what you see in the photos, and it's true. It is absolutely beautiful, inside and out.
I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay there on the third floor of the Maui Kai Resort, overlooking the Pacific. The condo was very well furnished, comfortable, clean, and the lanai! Wow, it was incredible. We left the sliders open all the time we were "home" so that we could enjoy the fresh breezes and the crash of the surf on the beach below. It was magnificent. We ate on the lanai, planned our day trips on the lanai, enjoyed sunning on the lanai. The view was stunning.
It was great to have a full kitchen during our stay. We ate out most meals, but prepared our own breakfasts in the condo. All the kitchen gadgets were in place, and the large refrigerator was great for keeping fresh fruits on hand for snacking.
We got a lot of use from the snorkeling kits. We drove to Kapalua, just north of Kaanapali, and enjoyed a picnic on a secluded beach there and the water was ideal for snorkeling. We even spotted a sea turtle and were able to swim with it for quite some time as it rose to the surface for air and moved on to another resting place. It was an experience I will never forget.

This Maui property is truly paradise. The view from the lanai couldn't be better - we saw whales breaching, seals and turtles. The modern conveniences of the condo are top notch. The kitchen has everything you need. There is a shared BBQ area available to use, as well as pool and hot tub. These areas are well maintained, clean and beautifully kept. There is coin operated laundry in the hallway. The property is located within walking distance of many local attractions including beaches, dining and shopping. You can snorkel right in front of the condo and enjoy the sights of turtles and many different species of fish and other ocean life. There was an orientation binder with lots of information including the evacuation route in case of tsunami, pamphlets on many of the attractions, restaurants and markets. There was a welcome basket waiting for us with a fresh pineapple, mango and papaya - delicious. You can drink the water from the tap! The frig also has an ice machine which is great for drinks, cooler or whatever. There is some extra equipment in the condo including boogie boards, snorkelling gear and beach chairs. The condo is beautifully decorated. I really enjoyed the fan above the bed and the shower. We also enjoyed the entertainment systems which included cable TV and stereo system. We brought our ipod and listened to our own music, but there is some there as well as some Dvds and VHS tapes. There is even a small library. The weather was perfect when we were there. We prepared our own meals, but also ordered in and went out to eat. I suggest Duke's at sunset - a very short walk down the beach. We are really looking forward to going back.

Maui Kai 301 was everything we expected and more. It was equipped with all the comforts of home but with a view to die for. The pictures that the owners have posted are exactly what you see when you open the door to Maui Kai 301. Sunrise is viewed from the bedroom, sunset is viewed from the living room. There was a lovely welcome basket in the kitchen when we arrived. They provided quality snorkeling equipment, beach towels & chairs, laundry soap and even mosquito repellent. There was nothing they didn't have that we needed or wanted during our stay. The pool, hot tub and cabana are also very nice. It's equipped with 2 Bbq's, a full kitchen, ping pong table, computer/printer combo along with lots of books, games, and CD/VHS/DVD library. We enjoyed the live music coming from the resort next door from the pool/cabana area nightly. Free coffee is served every morning in the office. This condo is walking distance to several large resorts with restaurants and also a strip mall with a grocery store, Pizza Paradiso (fantastic), Gelato, etc. What we enjoyed most about our stay at Maui Kai 301 was the view/location, the quality and cleanliness of the condo and how quiet it was. The Select Comfort airBed remote control was not working correctly but it was not a big concern for us. The only drawback for some might be no Wi-Fi service in the condo. Great location to sightsee from and it was perfectly and beautifullly appointed with everything needed...our favorites, the balcony and "rain" shower. Oh...and the pool and hot tub!!!Only regret...we should have stayed on longer!! Mahalo Mahalo Mahalo!!!

My husband and I stayed at this condo for two weeks and were both very sad to leave. The condo does have anything you might need during your stay. I loved being able to open up the lani and bedroom window and not turn on any air conditioning for two weeks! The constant sound of the waves was very relaxing and I will miss this more than anything. The staff at Mai Kai was very professional and friendly when we needed some assistance in getting the internet to work. We loved the shower and appreciated the gift basket upon our arrival. We would be happy to return to this condo when we go back to Maui some time in the future.

Aloha Kim-
It was a pleasure to have you both with us for two weeks.
What an adventurous arrival you had! I am just so glad when you arrived at, what, 3am (???!!) you found Maui Kai 301 waiting with open arms :)
We had a chance to get a few days in the unit ourselves just after you left. What a unique pleasure (even for us Islanders) to spend 4 blissful nights sleeping under the stars, above the surf...
Thank you so much for taking such good care of our place!

Every morning was spent on the beautiful lanai sipping coffee, playing cards or dice games and enjoying our breakfast, which was easily prepared in the well-equipped kitchen. It was a perfect way to start each day. After the daily activities (which can be just outside the door) we gratefully arrived back at #301 for an evening of relaxing and absorbing the beautiful sunset; only to be lured asleep by the sounds of the waves that are directly below us. It truly was a special vacation and Maui Kai #301 was an integral part of it!

The Maui Kai is such a perfect place to stay on Kaanapali Beach! You are truly "on the beach" as soon as you step outside the building, and the sunset views from the lanai just absolutely cannot be beat. We walked the entire stretch of beach and are convinced that we picked the best place to stay for our family. Our kids found a new favorite sport with snorkeling and they were able to do it right in front of the condo, so there was no need to pack a bunch of equipment any distance. Unit 301 is beautiful and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. We really enjoyed all of the extras - the beach towels, snorkeling equipment, beach chairs, and every kitchen item you could possibly need. After going to the market across the street, we were able to make many meals at the condo and keep up with our son's ever increasing appetite without having to constantly go in search of food. The grounds are beautiful and are constantly being tended by a very friendly staff. We hope to return to Maui again soon and we would absolutely stay at the Maui Kai, and especially unit 301, again. Thanks to Mark, Shayla, and Kathy for such great service and for sharing this beautiful place with our family!

This condo was beautiful, from the granite countertops to the rain shower head it couldn't have been more comfortable. We loved sitting on the balcony and watching the whales. The Maui Kai Beach Resort is in an ideal location. The beach is beautiful, there are many amenities available nearby and it's well positioned for day trips around the Island. Unit 301 is very well appointed with up to date decor and finishes throughout. The owner has thought of including in the unit, everything you need for a relaxing and trouble free vacation. There's everything from sunscreen to snorkle gear in the unit for guests to use. The view from the lanai is like none other, especially with the hundreds of whales breaching and accompanying their babies in the waters off this coastline. We never tired of seeing them. The owners and housekeeping staff went out of their way to be of assistance and answer all our questions. When we arrived, there was a fruit basket waiting for us which included enough fruit and cookies for our entire stay and an aloha canvas tote bag to use during our stay and to take home.
We loved everything about our stay in Unit 301 and there was nothing essential missing. The only suggestion we would offer is to make wireless internet available for those who may wish to stay in touch with the outside world. -

Spent our honeymoon in Maui at Maui Kai 301. It was amazing!
The condo is immaculate, the beach is awesome, and Shayla does an amazing job preparing the condo. Everything we needed besides food was already in the condo and ready to go when we arrived. The DVR and HD TV were appreciated while we weathered the tropical depression on our first 2 days.
About half a mile walk down the beach towards the black rock is the best beach we've ever been to!

This was the best vacation we have ever had. From the moment we first contacted Shayla until our checkout day, everything was perfect. When we arrived, there was a beautiful welcome basket waiting for us with fresh fruit, chocolates, and coconut cookies. What a wonderful treat after being on such a long flight.
The accomodations were immaculate and the view, well what can I say? It was spectacular. The view actually created a problem for us since it was so beautiful we didn't want to leave the lanai! Every morning we were treated to seeing Sea Turtles or Manta Ray's swimming by. We also adopted a group of birds that came to visit us every morning for breakfast.
You could really tell that the management company cared about the property. Everytime we did pull ourselves away from the lanai to venture out and explore the island we saw somebody cleaning or performing upkeep on the property.
Shayla's attention to detail is amazing. Everything we could ever need was there. My husband and I were just in awe that somebody could think of everything. It made for such a pleasant experience.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Shayla!! -

We were more than thrilled with the condo that Shayla rented to us. Befoe our arrival Shayla was sooo helpful in our planning process. We wanted for nothing when we arrived. The description of Maui Kai 301 is totally accurate and precise. We did awake to waves every morning and fell asleep on the lanai a few times. The shower and bathroom is top quality. I would compare the shower to what you find at Spa Grande. The rainshower head was our favorite part of the condo.

Gold Canyon AZMaui Kai 301 inspires the artist, lulls body and soul into dream
Left on 07/25/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Even though we arrived later at night parking was easy which is not the case with most other resorts in this popular area. Maui Kai 301 is Ideally located with easy access to the elevator and being a corner unit it offers awesome views in all directions from the patio. We skipped the mirrored bedroom with king size bed and chose to sleep on the spacious lanai in a very comfortable futon. Here after much stargazing we were "lullabied" to sleep by waves crashing on the shore, literally, directly beneath us. At dawn surreal pink and purple colors spread across the water and sky, perfectly framed by palm tree branches. I took a video from my bed to prove I wasn't dreaming. The owners have decorated with large canvases of local photos that are enough to inspire the artist in everyone. All the appliances, dishware and furnishings are top notch, making tasks simple, meals feel elegant and even taste better! I was especially pleased with the water filter pitcher and very roomy refrigerator. The walk-in shower with luxurious showerhead is phenominal and the towels are thick and soft. Another nice touch is that many extras are provided like candles, spices, condiments, games and books, boogie boards, beach mats and even sunblock. Just like the owners other unit in Hana, its hard to need anything. :) Infact its so comfortable its easy to be lulled into just laying around appreciating it all. But if you can move yourself outdoors the beach in front of the condo and next door is really great for swimming, waves and snorkeling out around the buoys. AND there is a patio area with lounge chairs for getting sun without sand if its too windy.

We spent 10 days at the Maui Kai 301. I should say 10 days in the Maui Kai 301 because we didn't want to go out. It is a perfect spot. Any closer to the water and you would have to swim. The lanai is comfortable with an unobstructed 180 view and privacy. The condo is like a home with everything you could want for a great vacation. We cooked in most nights and the kitchen was very well equipped.
There were beach toys, a comfortable bed and a great shower. The location was perfect for long walks on the beach and food. We found the best Mai Tai's around next door for $4.
After 10 days in the Maui Kai 301 we spent 3 days in the owners other condo at the Hana Kai. We were reluctant to make the drive but we are glad we did. It's not so bad if you take it slow. It is very green and very different from the rest of Maui. Hana is quiet and peaceful with amazing waterfalls and beaches. Once again the condo had everything you would need and was very charming and comfortable. We didn't have any trouble with noisy neighbors but it could be the luck of the draw. The condo overlooks a black sand beach and it's walking distance to the little town. We had a great dinner at the Hana Hotel and and a couples outdoor massage while listening to the ocean. We have been to Maui many times but never left so relaxed or so upset to have to leave. I would highly recommend both condo's and I would not miss the opportunity to stay a few days in Hana. We are booking again a year in advance to be sure we get to return. -

This is the second time we have stayed at Maui Kai Unit 301. Although we thought it was great the first time we stayed four years ago, we were thrilled at how this unit has been updated. It is absolutely beautiful. If being near the ocean is a priority, this is the best place to stay. You can sit on your lanai and watch the whales and sea turtles all day long. The owners have thought of everything when furnishing this unit, even including beach chairs and boogie boards for the kids. My husband and I and our two 17 year old boys had more than enough room. After staying here, we have all decided this is so much better than staying at a crowded and cramped hotel, regardless of how nice the hotels in the area are. This was cheaper than the hotels on Maui and you get much more for your money. There is a grocery store across the street and we enjoyed not having to go out to restaurants for every meal. Nothing beats enjoying your breakfast or dinner on the lanai while your watching the whales or the sunset. We would not stay anywhere else on the island and look forward to staying here again.

Owner
Aloha Barry:
I am very sorry to hear you had a terrible stay on your recent trip to Maui. Our records show you stayed in Maui Kai 301 over two years ago in 2006 (from 11/27- 12/13 for $225/nt to be exact) not just a few months ago in 12/2008 as stated in your review. The timing difference somewhat reassures me that you must not have been thinking of our unit (or our Resort!) when you wrote this review.
Because we are located directly on Ka'anapali Beach, three miles long, I do not understand your comment about 'no beach access'. Just for the record, for those who may not have visited our website, we have posted aerial photographs that show our resort is practically IN the water! Of course we provide beach access! There are two sets of stairs: one set is directly out the lobby doors, the other set is at the north end of our sundeck. Maui Kai Resort also provides water spigots at the top of each set of stairs for rinsing the sand off of your feet (or easy rinsing of all the 'beach goodies' we provide in our unit including: snorkel gear, boogie boards and beach chairs!). Our gorgeous sandy beach, is not only world famous, swimmable and offers great snorkeling, but was recognized with top honors by Dr. Beach as 'Best Beach in America' on his top ten list.
I don't know what you mean by "The condo was misrepresented". With dozens of photos posted online as well as multiple 360 degree virtual tours it seems impossible for us to misrepresent any aspect of our accommodations. You can visit Maui Kai 301 'virtually' before you ever step foot in our Resort- including full 360 degree tours of our master bedroom, living room and our spacious corner balcony. In fact, we include Resort tours of our beachfront as well as our cabana area with its BBQ grills, heated pool, hot Jacuzzi, public kitchen and community computer too! Our virtual tours are not a succession of photos on a slideshow that could potentially hide something from the viewer. Our tours are taken by a professional and are actual stitched images of each location. Our high quality tours can be enlarged to full screen on your computer offering great detail and allow you to move the mouse around to view what we offer as if you were truly there.
I also have never heard anything remotely close to your statement that "the condo was barely livable" in all these years. Of course, you might not even recognize Maui Kai 301 anymore. We upgrade our unit every year as we live on island and are always interested in improving our accommodations. We hired a professional team to completely remodel our kitchen and bath the last two weeks of December 2006- just days after you left. We built a magnificent custom bathroom with a hand-made shower folks come back for! This custom turtle inlaid natural stone shower has custom designed 'wavy glass' enclosure that is big enough for two! (We are now a real favorite for Honeymooners and special Anniversary celebrations, as you can imagine...)
We completely opened up the kitchen and installed sapphire granite and stainless steel full size appliances too. We also upgraded our outdoor furniture to a custom teak barstool set crafted in Bali- the bar height allows you to enjoy the 180 degree oceanfront view without the railing getting in your line of sight like regular chairs will do- it's magnificent! We have since added a top end Select Comfort adjustable 'Sleep Number' King sized bed (allows each side of the bed to adjust separately to achieve perfect personalized firmness for a fantastic night's sleep) and added lots of original art from Window To Paradise. These gorgeous fine art giclees are huge! Our newest addition is a 5 foot by 7 foot Hawaiian canoe scene that adds an amazing ambiance to the kitchen, augmenting its already incredible oceanfront location.
I wish you had contacted us back in 2006 (if this is truly your honest review of your stay in Maui Kai 301?!) instead of waiting two and a half years to inform me of your 'disappointing' stay. We live on island, and personally maintain and manage our condos. We are always a phone call away to help support our guests in getting oriented to their new 'Island Home'. We certainly would have helped you understand how to reach the beach... and would have been happy to augment our Orientation Book (provided inside the condo to help you feel like a 'local' right away!), with more tips about our favorite things to do and places to eat across the island for a truly memorable island vacation.
With kind regards-
Shayla Middleton

Lahaina is a great area on Maui and Maui Kai 301 is an excellent condo to stay in. One of our favorite parts of 301 was spending the early morning out on the lanai, with a large cup of coffee and the ocean breeze. We even slept on the lanai a couple on nights...yes! This unit is right on the beach, so close the waves lull you to sleep at night. We also liked that it was a corner unit, makes the lanai much more open and comfortable. The inside of this unit has obviously been completely remodeled with Granite countertops and the works. NICE! When we go on vacation we want to stay somewhere nicer than our own house and this place definitely delivers that. Have fun on Maui!

We have been to Hawaii 6 times, Maui 3 times before, but this was the BEST vacation we have ever had! A big part of this was the condo we stayed in; with it being so close to the ocean --- have not experienced this feeling of being so relaxed and excited. The view from the condo is Out of the World --- you can not describe the view. It gives you a feeling that you are staying right on the beach, but are high enough for security purposes. The condo has all of the extra' that you need to enjoy the water events and more. We liked the space and upgrades to the condo. The owner gave us a welcome gift that was much appreciated.
The location of the condo is Outstanding. We enjoyed the strip mall near the condo and found Excellent places for food, plus stores. The condo is a few miles from a major shopping center, where they have the GREAT fish taco's.
One thing that would make our stay better would be to put a PC in the room, so we could access the Internet.
We talk about our trip all the time and REALLY look forward to going back in the near future. -

Maui was the BEST vacation spot I have ever been to, and this condo was the icing on the cake. A great location, stunning views and a huge comfortable bed! Yes, you can watch the whales jumping from your room. Very clean. VERY highly recommended!

When you picture your vacation in Hawaii, in complete paradise, THIS is the place in your mind! Wake up to the sound of waves, walking out your door right onto the beach... perfection! If there wasn?t such beauty outside, I would have been able to live in the shower! A great treat for your trip to paradise!

If you are looking for a direct beachfront, spacious, beautiful, more-than-fully equipped condo with a fanatastic corner lanai and view of whales and sunsets then you have found it. To be honest, I hate to let the secret out - I better book my next trip soon!
We travel alot and the little things in this condo are what make it even more special - a huge "thank you" to the owners - no worries about whether paper goods are there, the closet is full with beach accessories, every dish and kitchen tool is in the cupboard. The large, flat screen TV did not get turned on while we were there, I am afraid: I couldn't pull myself away from watching the whales from the lanai.
I spent much time on the internet searching for the exact right place to stay, and I definately felt that I had found it. I would not be able to stay anywhere else on Maui.
Have Fun and Live Aloha.

The Maui Kai Beach Resort Condo 301 - Lahaina, HI was the most magical vacation my family has ever taken. The unit was top notch!! Everything (and things we didn't even think of) was provided for us in the unit. The ocean view was unbelievable from the lanai. The ocean is literally a stones throw away. We watched the whales breach from our unit while eating breakfast on the lanai! We will go back and stay here again. I would recommend this property without hesitation to anyone.

An absolutely lovely unit in a perfectly positioned condo high-rise. The waves literally come to the back (front?) patio of the building. Everything you need is in walking distance too, so you don't have to rely on odd or inconvenient means of getting food and water and other basics... Just shop at the grocery store and cook in your own kitchen!
This place is great because it's not a hotel, so you can stay in Hawaii and not feel like a complete tourist.
Peace and Good Waves.

The condo Maui Kai 301 was one of the most beautiful condominiums I've ever stayed at...Everything was FIRST RATE, impectably clean, updated...absolutely perfect. This was my 3rd time to the islands, and I've stayed in quite a few rental properties as opposed to hotels...Out of approx 10 properties, none could come close to this one. (And I must say, the new furniture in the unit is now even nicer than before!). Don't hesitate in considering renting this unit, as you won't find anything as nice, at such a reasonable rate. And the owners were wonderful too! See you in 2010 :0), only this time, I'll stay longer!

We stayed at the Maui Kai Room 301 and were just overwhelmed with the ever changing beauty just outside.
The condo was very clean and well equipped.
The beach is literally a few feet away and very quiet. The beach is not a classic swimming beach due to the rocks present. We experienced terrific sunsets and daily whale sightings.
The condo is located in a great central location. All the owners and renters were very friendly making you feel right at home.
Our pre-teenagers used the pool every night.
If you are searching for a quiet retreat with a great view this is the place to be.
