Columbia, MissouriAnother great stay at Honua Kai...best unit yet!
Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in May 2013
This was our 3rd time staying at Honua Kai. The 1st time we rented through the resort and the 2nd time through another owner on vrbo. Konea 339 was my favorite unit yet. The service through Chasen Rainbows was great and I appreciated always being able to talk to someone when I called. The payments were processed quickly and everything was planned very well. Since I have been to Honua Kai before, I'm very particular about the specific unit. I had always wanted to stay in one with a wrap around lanai and am was not disappointed when I finally did on this trip. I was a little nervous about it being on the 3rd floor as I prefer higher floors with better ocean views. I actually really liked the view from this unit. You have obstructed views of the ocean since it is on a lower floor, but ended up loving that it was even with the palm trees. It was great to relax on the lanai and hear the palm trees in the wind just a few feet away. There were only 2 minor maintenance issues during my stay (missing remote control and light burning out) but both were fixed by the Chasen Rainbows staff very quickly. I would definitely rent this unit again as it is now my favorite of the 3 I have stayed in so far. I also liked that this unit had a key pad on the door so I didn't have to keep track of key cards for the door. My only suggestion would be for Chasen Rainbows to include beach towels in the unit. You have to rent them in advance from them for a small fee, but it just seems like something they should include in the price to improve guest satisfaction. Another great stay at Honua Kai and I can't wait to plan my next trip.

Lafayette CaliforniaWonderful spot for families, we will be back!
Left on 03/14/2013 for a stay in February 2013
This was our first time at Honua Kai, and we loved it! This unit is clean, large, and being a corner unit it has better views than most. Great ocean view, and very comfortable unit. Only downside to renting without booking directly through resort is no towel cards-so be sure to rent them through chasing rainbows. Also our washer and dryer never worked and that was a pain, and chasing rainbows didn't do anything to help with that, we were at a laundry mat with no reimbursement-I didn't feel like fighting over $50 in laundry when on vacation-I guess we could have but it would have ruined the trip. We will definitely be back, we love the place!

Left on 01/20/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We were fortunate to have been able to take our children and grandchildren (13 in all) for a once in a lifetime holiday to Hawaii. We stayed in three of the condos - 339, 229 and 919. Each condo suited each family and we appreciated the fact that we were able to cook and have our meals in 229(the largest gathering area). It was everything we had planned for and were truly happy with our experience.

The unit was great..perfect for 4 adults and 1 child, we were super happy! However, the service we received at Honua Kai was disappointing, they did not want to assist us with anything, they would ask if we rented from an outside agency and if so we should call them. We sometimes had questions about the resort itself and the staff was incredibly rude. We have been to Hawaii many times and we have never been treated like this before. We love Maui and will be back but definately not to the Honua Kai...

Kirkland, WAHonua Kai Unit 339 - Great Homebase for a Family Vacation in Mau
Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We absolutely loved our stay in Honua Kai Unit 339. The wrap around lanai is a wonderful unique feature of this property, which allows for great views of the ocean. The building is brand new, and it really shows - everything feels new, clean and inviting. Check in and check out were easy, and we felt right at home in the condo from the minute we arrived. For the same price as two hotel rooms at a much less nice resort, our family got two bedrooms and a spacious living room to share, so the value is good, too.
I am deducting one star for location only because the beach directly out front of the property is rocky and not a great place to snorkel. The property has great pools as an alternative, but if great beach/snorkeling is the primary concern this may not be the best location for you. Also, this resort is not part of the walkable area with shops and restaurants - it's more set off on its own. So if you want to eat or shop outside of the on-property restaurant and mini market, be prepared to drive. -

Hello,
We just recently stayed for 11 days at the beautiful Honua Kai Resort.
This was our first time staying onsite, we had previously stayed in Kahana on beachfront condos. Honua Kai was much prefered for our family of 5, with children from 3 - 11. First they loved the pool, and the beach was great, and Dukes onsite ( although be forwarned lots of coral and very sharp ! hurt myself very first day) . Some may not like how big it is, but we never were over crowed even during peak season. Our suite was so beautiful, clean, commortable beds, love the full opening lani doors. Loved this unit ! Piedmont, CAPerfect Maui Vacation!
Left on 11/30/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Honua Kai is a beautiful and well managed property in west Maui. Unit 339 is a spacious 2 bedroom unit with a wrap-around lanai. Swimming pools and several jacuzzi's, a groument market, and the restaurant Duke's complete your perfect vacation experience. Lahaina is 10 minutes away by car. You can get to Kaanapali in 5 minutes, or you can choose to walk. Very convenient, but the small distance away from the busy area is actually nice.
The unit is managed by Chase'n Rainbows - These people are great. From my initial contact of availability inquiry to check-out, they were very, very helpful and always got back to me right away whenever I had questions (via phone and e-mail). I will definitely rent condos through them again for our future visits to Maui. Thanks! -

Honua Kai is a wonderful resort development. Unit #339 is a well appointed and spacious suite, with modern appliances and a great lanai. Two minor issues (which were not addressed during our stay): (1) the safe did not function; and (2) the screen on the smaller lanai window was damaged. The pools at Honoa Kai are very nice, and the whole complex is well maintained. Our family will definately go back on our next rip to Maui.
