From the moment we arrived we were thrilled! Pulling up to Honua Kai was gorgeous and it kept getting better as we explored the unit. The suite had every single requirement for a worry free, extremely comfortable stay for my family. The kids had all the gear required for hours at the beach which saved us from needing to cover those needs. The openness and spacious unit allowed for the 4 of us to have privacy and peace when needs as the 2 master suites were self contained and beautiful. Our favorite part was probably the peace and quiet the entire hotel and unit itself had to offer- perfect!
We have already booked our return stay for the same time next year! -

My husband and I took our 3 children over Thanksgiving break and had the most amazing time. The Honua Kai Hokulani #210 exceeded our expectations. The grounds are stunning and the accomodations were fantastic. What we really liked about the location was that we were within walking distance to many things, yet the location made us feel like we were at a private resort. Our family would highly recommend this location.

i was very satisfied with this property. It is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The rooms are quite spacious, and easily accomodated our party of five people. The kitchen was very well stocked with utensils and even things such as spices for cooking. The unit also contained a variety of items such as beach chairs, umbrellas and snorkeling sets for guests to use. Some highlights include the large lanai with a partial ocean view, where we dined, relaxed, and watched some awsome sunsets. The huge bathrooms with separate tubs and showers and double sinks were beautiful. For entertainment the unit has ipods dock, free wi-fi access, high end flat screen TVs in living room and bedrooms. This is a great property for a family or small group. .And may I say, the location is fabulous. This is a great beachfront property. The resort also contained several large swimming pools, a restaurant on site, and a great convenience store in the lobby. A large grocery store is located across the street. The town of Lahina which has lots of restaurants and fun shopping is only a few minutes away by car. Finally, the manager was very friendly and accomodating. I also found the concierge service at the resort to be very helpful in arranging excursions and just giving me advice and suggestions for fun activities. I also spoke several times to the owner, Mr.Shotwell, and he was very courteous and helpful. In fact, the Shotwells seem to have thought of everything to to make their property a complete and and nearly perfect vacation destination. And as always, the island of Maui is simply gorgeous. i highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a spacious high quality vacation rental.

We visited the Honua Kai Hokulani 210 after a very busy and stressful year. The experience at the resort was just what we needed. We were welcomed by Monty who gave us the lowdown on the suite and then we were free to explore the incredible amenities at our fingertips. The most difficult decision we had to make each day was choosing which of the magnificent pools we should lay beside or whether the ocean was best suited to snorkelling or boogie boarding. The well appointed kitchen made meal time preparation a breeze and we all enjoyed a very restful night sleep in the very comfortable beds. The location of the resort is ideal- right on the boardwalk for early morning runs and five minutes from Lahaina (by car) for our Starbucks fix. The only unfortunate thing about our stay was that it ended far too quickly. I would definitely recommend the Honua Kai to friends and family. We are already planning our return trip.

We had a relaxing and comfortable stay at this condo in June 2011. It was spacious, well-appointed and clean, with comfortable beds and a quiet and private lanai. The kitchen was very well-equipped and there were ample towels, snorkeling gear and beach toys. We enjoyed the facilities at Honua Kai and the close proximity to the beautiful beach. The small gourmet store 'Aina' located in the building was convenient for coffee to take on early morning beach walks. This condo was very comfortable and served as a great base for our Maui holiday.

Honua Kai was everything I hoped for. The Resort itself is spectacular. Three separate and distinct pools to choose from, immaculate grounds and stunning views and sunsets.
We stayed in H210 for nine nights and the unit had everything you could think of. And traveling with 4 teenagers, we used it all. Boogie boards, snorkel gear, ice chest, this place had everything.
We snorkeled right out front of the resort and also made the short walk down to the Black Rock for more snorkeling. The best of all was Honolua Bay. It is a short drive north and walk down to the beach. The snorkeling was amazing. We even had dolphins come into the bay and put on a show.
Our unit seemed brand new, very clean with top notch appliances. It even had a queen size air mattress to make sleeping arrangements easier. Our dinners on the lanai were the best. The privacy afforded made our time on the lanai very peaceful and relaxing.
The owners of H210 have thought of everything to make your stay memorable. They were easy to deal with in setting up our trip. I can't wait to go back. -

Hokolani 210 exceeded our expectations. The Shotwells have thought of everything. It is a wonderfully comfortable 2 bedroom/2 bath outward-facing condo. There is a credenza in the sitting area that has a drawer filled with info on the area and another with "beach-reading” books. There is an eating table for 4 and also 3 stools at the kitchen counter. The kitchen is fully equipped. Cupboards and drawers have everything you need (foil, olive oil, steak seasonings etc). The laundry had detergent and dryer sheets. The "fun closet” has everything you could possibly want (beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach pails and swim noodles). The bedrooms are large and the king beds are comfortable (feather mattress pad and down blankets & pillows). There are two big bathrooms with plenty of towels. Each bath had a travel size pineapple-scented shampoo and lotion to get you through the first couple of days. The lanai is possibly the best part of the condo. It faces the Westin Villas (about ½ mile away) and looks down on a walkway that connects to the beach walk (a board walk).
Honua Kai has 3 pools (one big pool, a lagoon type pool with a water slide and a lazy river). Although the pools don't open until 8 am, the chairs fill up immediately with "towel -chair savers”. The hotel market has yummy, but pricey treats (4 cupcakes = $20). The hotel restaurant (Duke's) is average. There is an underground parking garage ($10 per day) and also a self-parking lot that is free. There is a local grocery store (reasonable prices) that is about a 10 minute walk from the front of the resort.
Thank you Shotwell family for offering the use of your vacation home. It was so nice to have such a comfortable place to stay after a long, lazy day in the sun. Hopefully your condo will be available on our next trip to Maui!

We had a great, relaxing stay in this spacious condo for 2 weeks in late March/11. It is very clean, and extremely well equipped, including all you need for recreation and the beach. It's great both for adults and kids, with the pools and gardens very well maintained and cleaned. It has ready acess to snorkelling on the beach, and great golf courses both north and south. Everything you need is within walking distance, and you can walk along the paved beach path all the way to the other end of Kaanapali. The local property manager was very prompt and helpful. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for a great Maui vacation.

While perfect weather was a key factor in our perfect vacation, it got off to a great start when we arrived at the Honua Kai. This unit is gorgeous and perfectly located close enough to everything! Out the door, a few steps down the hall (but perfectly far away from the elevator) take the elevator down to the pool and gardens area. The Beach is perfect for a mix of snorkeling and Stand up Paddling. The condo is located perfectly between Kapalua and Lahaina and has all the necessary amenities nearby. Grocery, pizza, farmers market all within walking distance.
The unit itself is perfectly outfitted with all the comforts of home: Cozy living space, huge bathrooms, towels, beach chairs, beach toys, snorkel gear. They have really tried to think of everything. The beds are sooo comfortable. After a good nights sleep, breakfast on the lanai starts off another day of play in the island. We will definitely return again and again. -

We stayed in condo 210 from January 21st to the 25th. The condo was everything we wanted and so much more! It was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed for cooking and going to the beach (towels, chairs, coolers and snorkel gear). The bed was very comfortable and the bathrooms have wonderful soaker tubs and seperate showers.
The Lanai was huge and had the very best in patio furnishings and the view was pretty amazing too. In the morning I would sit on the Lanai and watch the sun come up over the mountains, the view of the ocean isn't the greatest but you have privacy on the Lanai.
Overall I would definately give this condo 5 stars. Hopefully we can stay here again.

First time back to Maui in 17 years for my husband and I and the first time ever in Hawaii for our children, girls ages 13 and 16. Our stay at Honua Kai was Picture Perfect!! The Shotwell's condo had everything that we needed to have a perfect stay. They had beach chairs, umbrella's, coolers and snorkle gear... pool and beach are a stone's throw from the unit as well as an excellent restaurant/bar named duke's. Beautiful setting day and night!!! You are sure to have a fabulous time if you stay here!!! We will definately be back...
