We have booked a one bedroom appartment as we had 2 teenage daughters with us and they were to sleep on the fold out sofa bed, but when we go to our appartment it had 2 full bedrooms one with king and one with queen size beds and 2 bathrooms which was fantastic.
The place is only 4 years old and the appartments look like display suites - buitifully furnished with full kitchen dishwasher washing machine etc. The windows are double glazed and it is blissfully quiet. There is wifi in the room, although when we arrived and our room was still not ready we had to battle with the staff to get access to wifi while we waited in the lobby.
Ther are activities and gym classes but fees apply to most plus there is a $25 resort fee on top of the room rate which is billed by the resort at the end of your stay.
The hotel is right on the beach and there is a boardwalk thet runs in front of all the hotels which is great for that morning stroll or jog. There are plenty of whales to see from the beach and we did not get any closer to them when we took a snorkeling cruise.
There is a deli which has local produce as well as sandwiches icecream coffee (decent espresso) and a restaurant which is quite good, need to book in peak time as the wait can be up to an hour. There are several other resorts with restaurants within walking distance, There is a small shoping centre with a supermarket within a 5 minute walk and there are 5 car hire places across the main road from the south tower. If you do not have a car than taxi to Lahaina, which is where all the buzz is, is about 15min $20 each way. There are shopping centres and restaurants that are closer to the resort than Lahaina, but it's such a gorgeous little town that we went 3 nights out of 5, which is probably where I would like to stay next time.
Tip: If you have snorkelled The Great Barrier, don't bother with snorkeling here.Response from Denise Russell - 02/05/2013

Thank you for the kind words and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. The condo you stayed in was not Konea 814, but rather another one as it was booked by an on-island broker, not us, the owners. Unfortunately, they had double-booked it and you received an upgrade due to their error.
We hope that you call us directly or refer your friends if you so desire. We have done a lot to make Konea 814 a standout condo by adding extra features, such as wall-to-wall mirrors and additional amenities to give our guests a wonderful Maui vacation experience.

Thank you John and Denise (Blue Moon Rentals) for a wonderful rental experience in Maui. We appreciated how gracious you were with accommodating our needs while we were in Maui. Honua Kai 814 was a beautiful condo with every amenity possible! Because this resort is brand new, it had everything you could think of in the unit we rented. I loved having a washer and dryer in the unit. It was so nice coming home with a suitcase full of clean clothes and not having to fight the washer and dryer crowds at some of the other resorts, which we have done in the past! The condo was stocked with everything you could possibly need. I am kind of a neat/clean freak and it was so nice and clean when we arrived. The lanai looked out over the island and while we didn't have an ocean view it was still beautiful! The bed was so comfortable! The resort itself was absolutely breathtaking. The pools are beautiful and the resort sits right on Ka'anapali Beach. There is a beach walk you can walk south towards Black Rock and then if you walk through the Sheraton resort you end up in the Whalers Village area. Such a beautiful walk to Whalers Village. If you choose not to do the beach walk, you can also walk on the beach all the way to the North side of Black Rock. This resort also has the famous Duke's Restaurant that sits right on the beach. We had dinner here and had a beautiful view of the Maui sunset. I didn't want to leave! We visit Maui 1 to 2 times per year and absolutely love the Island. We will visit again and will call Denise and John (Blue Moon Rentals). Thank you Denise and John for helping to make our vacation perfect!
