Additional Location Information
I have lived on Maui for over 20 years. I owned and operated a very upscale Guest House in Lahaina for most of those years. I sold that a few years ago and downsized to this lovely townhouse in Napili. The difference living up in Napili is: It is cooler than Lahaina by 10 degrees sometimes. It is greener and the beaches are truly a wonder to behold!
Napili Bay is a place for everything. Swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and just plane old sun bathing and reading a book on the beach! It doesn't get better than this!

Albany ORUpscale Comfort - Quiet Retreat!
Left on 04/15/2013 for a stay in March 2013
This was our first trip to Hawaii - celebrating our 30th anniversary. We stayed at the "Jewel" for 8 days the end of March 2013. The room(s) were beautiful and my husband loved the shower (I did too)! The neighborhood was very quiet compared to staying in a condo complex. The beach is a long block away. It's an easy walk, just be aware that there's no sidewalks and streets are very narrow.
Julie is a fabulous host! She was very helpful with recommendations and directions. She has everything you need for the beach - chairs, umbrella, towels, cooler.
If you are a couple looking for a quiet, comfortable place to spend the evenings, you don't plan on cooking, and you are planning on being out and about during the day - I would highly recommend the Napili Jewel. It is designed for people on the go - not so much for home bodies who want to hangout and watch TV. We spent most of our time snorkeling and/or on the beach - so it was great!
Our biggest challenge was eating. Our next trip to Maui we will try and find a place with a full kitchen. My husband has celiac, and we did not find restaurants on West Maui as accommodating as websites made them sound.
Tip: The Gazebo restaurant is a great breakfast/lunch place Julie recommended and they did work with our GF needs. They are just down the street - a quick walk. If you don't like to stand in line for 45-60 minutes for a table - call in your order! It'll be ready in 10-15 minutes, about the time it takes to walk down there. You can pick up your food and have a picnic on the beach!

My friend and I stayed here for 10 days in March. It was just perfect for us. The small kitchen facilities allowed us to have simple breakfasts at home, and keep some snacks/drinks on hand. The place was incredibly clean and the owner Julie really has put a lot of thought into what she has included in the unit.It was so great to have nice beach towels, beach chairs etc. Although the unit is small it worked great for us and the patio is a bonus...had everything we needed...Julie is wonderful...

First of all, I'd like to say that the owner is an extremely nice person. The lodging is clean and quiet. On the down side, we really missed having a kitchen. We felt the that although the beds were comfortable, that they were small. We ended up sleeping in two different beds because of there size. The pictures made the lodging look larger than it is in reality. We also felt that the location was too far away from where we wanted to spend most of our time [beaches and shopping]. I would recommend this place if you do not mind what we viewed as shortcomings.

Seeking warmth on Maui
Upper midwestHigh quality accomodations
Left on 02/15/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Owner Julie Frank is very friendly, easy to work with before and after arrival. She was available to talk for concierge-like advice during our stay. Everything in this unit is clean and high quality as mentioned below.
Pros
- Everything is very clean and cozy. This is a quiet spot as part of a multi unit condo/townhouse group. Other than an occasional vehicle starting up we never heard any noise from 10pm - 630am.
- Every item here is of great quality. The bath towels & foam top beds are great. All soap, shampoo, body wash and paper products are provided. There are nice beach chairs/umbrella, mask/snorkle, a cooler w/freezer packs available for use at local beaches. Our favorites: Kahekili Beach park to sun/wade/walk and Onelua Beach to walk and explore.
- For morning walks the Gazebo cafe is about 3 long blocks away and Napilli beach is slightly further. Note: This area has hardly any sidewalks so don't plan to trek much at night. Honoapilani Rdoad is narrow with no sidewalks; it is dangerous to walk on that road at night ... this seems to be a problem around much of Maui that we saw.
- Julie has a set of restaurant recommendations and all those that we tried were superb - we did Star Noodle and Gazebo twice.
Cons
- Think of this place as a private bed & "breakfast" (not a full breakfast, but Julie provides some outstanding coffee beans for the coffeemaker) and you will be fine. This is not a big apartment/condo and storage is tight. There is little space for luggage or personal items. Adding a bar sink and a hot plate would help. That's the only reason for rating 4* instead of 5*. If we could we'd really rate it a 4.5 for the quiet and quality items mentioned above.
Note: We had most breakfasts in the room since cooler morning breezes made the patio a challenge. If we were around the apt for a light lunch the patio with full table and chairs works fine. We usually headed out to the beach or other places at noon and ate our evening meal in restaurants. -

My Husband and I had a wonderful stay at Julie's place in Maui. It was clean and equipped with every amenity we needed to make our stay confortable. We especially enjoyed the large shower with removable shower wand. Julie's suggestion for places to eat were excellent. The location was quiet and comfortable, and the free parking is a bonus. Her advertisement shows Lahaina as the location, but it is actually 8 miles north in Napili, still very close to the Lahaina attractions.

Great place. a bit small but you're in maui... you want to spend most of your time outside. very close to honalua bay (great snorkel spot). The bed was comfortable and Julie had plenty of helpful restaurant recommendations for us. My wife and I like to make food on our own instead of going out to eat and even though there wasn't a stove or kitchen, we were able to use the microwave and grill to make dinner. and there was a cooler and ice blocks in the fridge for us to take food with us. She also had snorkel masks, towels, mats, and boogie boards. All the complementary items helped us a lot. this place is perfect If you plan to eat out most of the time.

We spent 5 nights here exploring Maui. The hospitality and recommendations were excellent. Two bedrooms were a plus, beautiful spacious shower and bathroom, even if the walk-around space is tight. We did eat several breakfasts on the patio from local store purchases. The beach chairs, boogey boards, beach towels and tote bags were very useful and added to our enjoyment of the Maui water. Cable TV and wi-fi, tour books and many excellent restaurant recommendations including Hana drive highlights rounded out our experience. I love being in the water on Maui, but the food is now a close second.

Left on 11/15/2012 for a stay in November 2012
My wife and I stayed at Julie's little hidden oasis on our honeymoon after staying at a number of other locations on the island. It was very well equipped and had everything we needed! It's great that Julie provides beach towels, chairs, cooler etc. for her guests to take to the beach or on day trips. In fact, we can't say enough about the hospitality, and the fact that this place was by far the best value of any of the units we stayed in was a bonus!
This place is right near the coast with close enough access to the highway that it makes for both a relaxing and very convenient stay.
Mahalo Julie! You were a most excellent host and we enjoyed our stay very much.

We thoroughly enjoyed our "first retirement" vacation and staying at this exceptionally clean and comfortable suite. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and Julie provided us with all the information we needed to make our stay very special. The beaches nearby were really nice - And, we did have the opportunity to do a lot of island exploring, which was fun!
We appreciated the beach chairs, towels and little extras provided (the freshly ground coffee was amazing)

My husband and I had our first trip to Hawaii to celebrate our 20th anniversary and stayed at the Hidden Jewel Napili. We couldn't have been happier. Julie has thought of everything you need for a relaxing get away, from beach towels and chairs to take with you during the day to everything you'd need at your home away from home. The true "hidden jewel" though was Julie herself. Truly welcoming and full of information on what to do and see on the island without being overbearing. I can't imagine a better place to spend our vacation. Thank you, Julie!

Left on 01/22/2012 for a stay in January 2012
We stayed in the lower level of a condo/townhome with a bedroom and bathroom, both of which were extremely clean. The bathroom is nicely updated. There was a bedroom with a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishes, flatware, etc. We ate our breakfast there every morning usually outside on the little patio behind the unit. One limitation of the unit is that there is not much of a seating area so that we could eat inside or just sit somewhere besides the bed. The unit is about a five minute walk from a nice beach, but you don't feel like you're "at the beach." You're in a modest residential neighborhood in Hawaii. Julie, the owner, is onsite and extremely friendly and helpful.

This Napili Jewel was our first accomodation on Maui. Arriving from a long journey from the other side of the planet, it was really relaxing and getting us into the aloha feeling. Being greeted with a lot of aloha and realy careing help for all our questions, we enjoyed our stay and the wonderful coffee Julie provided for us! On top of it she helped us get a wonderful massage with a very special woman! We had breakfast at great place nearby, and the beaches are terrific. In the evening we enjoyed sitting on the privte lanai. All in all we had everything we needed and more. We recommend this cosy, super clean, thoughtful and careful organizied place with all beach equipment one needs, quite place for single or couples, who want their privacy.

Jewell of Napili is very nice, although it is a little small. It is the downstairs portion of a townhouse, and consists of a living room/kitchenette, bedroom, and bathroom. The kitchenette is inside a closet and has a mini fridge and microwave. We actually needed a full kitchen for our stay because we planned on preparing some meals ourselves instead of dining out every night. We only stayed here three nights, so it worked out o.k.

It is infortunate that I was not on island when these wonderful guests stayed at my place in Napili. They did fail to mention that I have not just one bedroom but two. I believe that I have more to offer that most very upscal Hotels. In most Hotels you get a coffee pot and cups. I have just what anyone needs to keep a small amount of food on hand in the fridge, fresh coffee beans are an added perk with my beautiful coffee pot and coffee grinder and of course a microwave for your convenience. We have some of the best food and restaurants on Maui. It is beyond me why anyone would not want to take advantage of this while you are on vacation. Also, I am a little surprised I was not give 5 stars by this lovely guest on cleanliness. I never reuse any bed linens at all. Everything is freshly washed when you check in. I am a complete clean freak and take such pride on presenting my rental in primo condition. My place is certainly larger than a Hotel room and I pride myself on attention to detail. Everything has been renovated and new and beautiful! The reality is, you can stay with me one block from the beach for $99- $129 per night (depending on the season) or stay in a one room Hotel for $250-$400 a night. I am proud of what I have to offer my guests and I really care! Mahalo Nui Loa, Julie

Julie was fabulous to work with for our vacation. Â We e-mailed back and forth before booking and she answered all of our questions promptly. Â She was so accommodating and provided us with more than enough amenities in this condo. Â We had boogie boards, which we would have had to rent otherwise, beach towels and a nice patio and outdoor dining area to relax at. This is not on the water, but that doesn't matter! The beach is literally down the street and such a short walk. Â There are stores and fabulous restaurants within driving distance. Â She provided us with restaurant recommendations and even made a reservation for my sister for her birthday dinner!

These two sisters were just amazing guests. They certainly were raised right. Very considerate! I was so taken back after they checked out, I went downstairs to start laundry in the rental and found they had left me a beautiful card and one of the most majestic orchids I have ever seen! We stayed at Julie's place for a week. Our best week and best accommodation in our six week long Hawaii holiday.
I do not have enough words to tell how a wonderful person Julie is. Besides she helped us with useful information on what to do and where to go in Maui; she was there with us when the tsunami threatened us after the big earthquake in Japan.
Julie's house is in a very good location. Not in a crowded resort, but in a neighborhood of locals. It is close to the best beaches, like Kapalua best for snorkeling. You can also walk down to Napili bay.
The place is fully equipped with everything you need; new and high quality! Full beach sets with towels, chairs, umbrella etc. You have refrigerator, coffee machine, wi-fi internet. The room is equipped with both ceiling fan and air-conditioner. There is enough space for your stuff and you have a nice lanai where you can rest or have a dinner.
The apartment is spotless, very clean; the bathroom is beautiful; the place is full of nice details.
I highly recommend Julie's place, as its owner fully understands what it means to be far away from home and makes this stay of yours perfect.Response from Julie A. Frank - 11/18/2011

Meeting this adorable couple was such a highlight for me! We went through a tsunami warning together and it was just one of those experiences in life where you bond. I have lived on the islands for many many years and so I have lived through several Tsunami warnings as well as I was here when we had "Iniki". Kaua'i got the worst part of that and Maui got it's share as well. Fortunately I am not located in the evacuation area. I am very calm with these events and knew how to share that with my guests. I did whatever I could to help make them feel safe and "not alone". I kept my door unlocked to my part of the house so they would not feel isolated and could get me at any time. We were very lucky because Japan was not. I pray for their recovery! I took my guests out to breakfast the next morning before they checked out. I wanted their last memory of Maui to be a positive one. We got to know each other well and I cherish that time together! Aloha, Julie

We loved this suite. It was comfortable, quiet, and easy to come and go from. The bed and pillows were very comfortable! We had our own parking spot, as well as an outdoor lanai for casual meals and enjoying the evening. Julie provided big fluffy beach towels, boogie boards, beach chairs and umbrella. Julie started us out with a list of local eateries, and suggestions of what is in the area. We are on the go during the days, and this was the perfect base for day trips. It's near several good beaches, golf courses and restaurants. The nearby shopping center had coffee, and a great ribs and barbecue joint. Julie was a wonderful host. She let us use a second bedroom to lay out our luggage, and went above and beyond to return an item left behind.
This is in a residential neighborhood, which is quiet and peaceful. If you are looking for a bustling resort with lots of other travelers to meet, or want to spend your day sitting by a pool, it's not what you want. Also, it is not a full kitchen - great for warming up food and making breakfast, but you won't be making a gourmet meal here. Again, for us this was perfect, as we are on the go most days, and yet had a comfortable bed for a good night's sleep. We hope to come back again and again!

The Hidden Jewel was the perfect place to stay during my recent visit to Maui. It's located in a private, quiet residential area that is a short walking distance to the beach, the market, and many local restaurants and golf courses.
It has a private entrance and a tranquil, secluded patio with lots of beautiful potted plants and green trees. This area provides a nice place to enjoy a cocktail and unwind for the day, or even to have a cup of coffee and plan the day ahead.
Julie Frank, the proprietor, is professional and personable and went above and beyond the call of duty to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable. She keeps this unit in impeccable condition, and provides beach chairs, beach towels, coolers, umbrellas, etc. to make spending time at the beach easy and enjoyable.
Julie is a long time resident of the island and made excellent (and accurate) recommendations for activities and for dining. I very much enjoyed my visit -- thanks in large part to the location of this unit, but also to Julie's guidance.
My only regret is that I wish I could have stayed longer!! -

This Maui high-end residential area was fantastic. The elegant rooms were well appointed and very comfortable. The best of everything, classy and stylish. Best of all was our host Julie who made our visit fun by showing us the great restaurants, exciting places to go and seeing to our needs while preserving our privacy. The separate entrance and garden like private patio were a joy. High speed internet. mini frig and microwave, fine linens, towels and flat screen tv left nothing to be desired. The bathroom was lovely and provided dainty toiletries. Next visit I plan to stay longer.

If you're looking for a relaxed and peaceful place to stay on Maui this is it. We prefer not to stay in the hotels surrounded by hundreds of other visitors so a vacation rental is the perfect match for us. The location in Napili is perfectly situated near the beach (Napili Bay) and many great restaurants (Gazebo, Sansei). The owner, Julie, has a great set up with everything we needed from a mini fridge and coffee maker to towels and chairs for the beach. The room is spacious with a large closet. The bathroom is beautifully done with granite and travertine. We loved the spacious shower. There is a very nice patio off the room where we enjoyed reading and lounging. Everything felt very private and comfortable. We even had access to a washer/dryer for a small charge, but it was worth it to have clean clothes without paying exorbitant hotel laundry prices. We will definitely stay here again!
